The Deputy Governor-General was seen today leaving Rideau Hall in a horse-drawn carriage escorted by four Mounties in full ceremonial regalia. Upon arriving at the green fields in front of Parliament, the Administrator exited the carriage as the traditional 21-gun salute shook the grounds with each fire.

He was taken to a small pedestal on the ground, covered by the red carpet that follows all the way into Parliament. He stepped on the pedestal, firmed his posture as the Vice-Regal salute began to play by a nearby military orchestral company.

"ATTENTION!" Cried the Sergeant of the Queen's Own, after the end of the hymn. At his word, the redcoated soldiers in front of Parliament aligned in perfect column formation - all wearing their ceremonial uniforms including the black trebuchet on their heads. "THE ADMINISTRATOR!" He cried again, signaling the arrival of the Chief Justice. He was escorted by the sergeant as the Deputy Governor General inspected his troops.

At the end of the inspection, the national anthem began to play as the Chief Justice made his way into the Parliament.
