Shamo [Male Darmanitan]: ~ "Now... it's just us... Let's stay together."
Shamo and Brody are a lot alike, in particular, Shamo shifting from zen form to rage form. Brody is known to have a bad temper, while hard to evoke, it's incredibly contrary to his usual timid and docile state. Shamo is quite similar, although far quicker to fly into a rage. This is actually to Brody's benefit, as Shamo typically acts out Brody's anger for him. With the loss of his family, Brody is even more dependant on Shamo's presence. Without him, Brody would likely have broken and fallen into a suicidal and self-destructive state. But he still has his trusted friend at his side, and ready to do battle with him.

Ability: Zen Mode
Move Pool: Hammer Arm, Rage, Incinerate, Thrash, Overheat, Work Up, Superpower (Rage Mode), Psychic (Zen Mode)

Brody is a very large young man standing at 6'10". He's always been large, healthy as his father used to say. From an early age, Brody was set to train, his mentor made sure that he was well taken care of, more than his father most of the time. He trained Brody to be strong, and capable of taking care of himself. A look at Brody makes that quite clear. He's well built from head to toe with well-toned muscle. He's rather light skinned, gently tanned from time spent out in the sun. He has rather dull greyish black eyes that often look quite sad or timid with a shy expression usually left on his weathered face that seems well beyond his age. All while his spiky black hair is held back by a headband across his forehead and runs down to just between his shoulder blades and is more akin to his actual age.

Typically it will only be his top half that is exposed. From the waist down he always wears loose fitting pants that allow him to keep a wide range of motion, just as his mentor instructed was important. The often baggy white pants always tuck into relatively large brown boots trimmed with gold accents. Around his waist is tied by a rope belt, what at first glance appears to be a large red sash that drapes around his waist and parts of his legs. When he loosens this belt to pull the fabric up and over his shoulders, he reveals the garment as a traditional red robe used by his mentor and his mentor's mentor before him. His arms are usually left bare, minus a small selection of matching armbands and bracelets he wears. This is his traditional martial arts wear, but his usual attire isn't much different. Usually, a red shirt or tunic with white pants tucked into boots. A simple palette of colors he's fond of.

Most of the time Brody is an incredibly docile young man. Even when practicing martial arts, he has the ability to remain surprisingly calm. Despite his size and intimidating stature, a look at his face shows his earnest and soft expression. For one socially competent it is easy to pick up on Brody's inherent introverted nature and kind heart. He constantly stumbles over words in his head as he tries to think of what he should be saying. He's quite reserved and is more than content to stay in the background and let others take charge. Trusting their judgment is better than anything he could come up with. It's self-demoralizing that he does, making himself think that both he and his ideas are worth less than others. His mentor has done as much as he can to help Brody break these bad thoughts, but he wasn't willing to push Brody too far.

Unlike some, Daizen realized that there was a line to never push Brody past. This is because Brody has a very bad temper, perhaps the worst of his generation to say the least. One that is less a simple mood shift, and more to a complete psyche shift. Brody's self-hate and any other negative emotions can pile up, and ultimately they can reach a breaking point. Brody's mentor and his father have accidentally pushed Brody to this point. He flies into a violent rage with a surprisingly calculated demeanor. In many ways, everything Brody represses comes out in a violent fit. As he takes out any emotions through fury and destruction. It's very much a temper tantrum, but with his sheer size and power the outcome looks more like the rampage of wild beasts. Luckily for all in his general vicinity, it is very difficult to force Brody past this point. Meaning he remains a calm, reserved, and calculated young man; practically a wallflower.

Brody was not born on happy terms. What should have been a routine delivery suffered numerous complications. These complications ultimately leading to Brody's mother dying as a result of childbirth, her last wish being for her son to have a name akin to her home back in Unova. Stricken with grief, Paragus for a moment considered abandoning his son, casting out that which had robbed him his wife. However, as he looked at his newborn son, he couldn't bring himself to commit such an act. In Brody, Paragus saw his wife's last wish, he would take care of Brody, and on that day, his son saved him. If not for Brody pulling through from the troubled birth, Paragus would have had nothing left, his broken heart would have pushed him to death, but the hope of fatherhood brought him back and gave him purpose.

Raising Brody alone wasn't easy, he was a growing young boy, and Paragus was a low-class working man. He pulled extra shifts when he could, and found additional work outside of his usual job just to help ensure his son would be well taken care of. Secretly, Brody began to figure these things out, and slowly he started to hate himself for it. He learned the truth of his mother's death, he learned what lengths his father was going to, and he blamed himself for all of it. This negativity all began to well up inside him, slowly eating at him until one day he couldn't take it anymore. One off-handed remark, a slip of the tongue, something meant with little intent, was all it took. A neighborhood boy triggered all of Brody's frustrations, and in a fit of rage, Brody pounced on the boy, beating him just shy of death.

They had to move, for the sake of their future livelihood, they couldn't stay there anymore. They moved south and found a suitable place to live in Vermillion City. Paragus got a new job working in the shipyard, Brody became part of a new community. Before the episode, Brody had just started taking lessons at one of the better known Saffron Dojos. Such a luxury was no longer an option. Interested in finding a way to perhaps focus his son's issues, Paragus sought out a local instructor. A former Master at a little known Dojo, Daizen Yagami. He was an interesting man, not at all like the instructors at any formal Dojo. Brody would be his only student, and he'd be taught in a way specifically designed for him. This was the start of his martial arts training. Daizen combining methods from schools of martial arts spanning the globe to create a tailor-made style to fit Brody, a style that was more than just learned moves, but an extension of one's very self.

Daizen had taught Brody everything he knew, all that he could, but he still permitted his student to come and train. They'd spar from time to time, his old body still capable of providing new techniques of different styles that Brody had never seen. it was always fun, and while he'd come close on countless times, Brody had never won. This was in part to Daizen always doing something new as a means to better prepare Brody for the wide variety of ways people could fight against him. However, Brody's losing streak would end on a fairly tragic day.

A small Darkness outbreak had hit Vermillion. Little more than a few Grunts that appeared and attacked close to Daizen's home. Daizen and his Sawk fought to help kill the Darkspan creatures. Brody arriving on the scene late to find Daizen delivering the killing blow to the last Grunt. All would have been fine if not for the young woman who was on the ground bleeding out. Brody rushed to Daizen's side as he inspected the wounds before lowering his head in shame. Without a word, Daizen slowly produced a small knife from a pouch on his hip and slid it into the young woman's skull. She was going to die, her wounds were to grave, and by the time medics would have arrived, she'd have needlessly suffered only for them to preserve that suffering a bit longer.

But Daizen didn't have time to explain his actions, it was hard to tell if he would have been capable anyways. Brody had witnessed the action, and it broke him. He'd watched the man he cared for like a father, kill a woman who he thought could have gotten treatment. A wellspring of emotions came up in Brody, and once again, he went berserk. He lashed out at Daizen, a man more than capable of defending himself. Brody wasn't just in a rage though. He moved with precision wholly unexpected for what would have been considered a blind rage. Every action had purpose and precision, from years of training with his master, it seemed he was one step ahead of every move. Each swing hitting its mark and beating the old man down. When authorities arrived, they managed to finally restrain the enraged young man, and it took three of them and the coaxing of Paragus to bring him back to his senses. The only words he shouted as he was being dragged away from Daizen were. "YOU KILLED HER! WHY WOULD YOU KILL HER!? YOU KILLED HER!"

Daizen would go on to face criminal charges and wouldn't see Brody again. Brody got off from the incident due to the circumstances deeming Brody both legally insane during the time of the event, and a shaky account of self-defense. Brody was only ashamed of what he'd done, no matter how much his father comforted him about how what he'd done was right. he shut down, even more than his usual reserved self.

Another Darkness event would occur that would shatter all he had left. The events in Alola pulled numerous people through, including Brody and his father. They landed on Poni Island South of the Battle Tree, and all around them, they witnessed a horror, unlike anything they'd seen before. But the Horror for Brody was far worse. Paragus was a broken man, and he fell into the Darkness' ploy and promises. With wide eyes, Brody watched the father who'd cared for him for years reel in pain before melting into the same monsters he'd seen his Mentor fighting before. Tears forming her lashed out, tearing apart the monster that used to be his father with his own hands. He couldn't help but collapse after committing such an act. He was ready to die, why had he held on to his life so dearly, what did he really have that was worth resisting for? He would have easily died there in the open if not for a young man with a Gallade who came and grabbed his arm, pulling him to run after towards an impressive tree in the distance. perhaps here he'd find a new reason to hold onto life. If not, at least he could lay down his life making sure others who still had purpose didn't have to.

Mixed Martial Arts: Daizen taught Brody a wide range of techniques and teachings from martial arts spanning the globe, all to give his student a style that fit who he was as a person. As such, Brody doesn't follow any particular martial arts set, instead, pulling from a wide variety in a more personal style that capitalizes on his size and strength. There are still some faults in his technique that need to be ironed out with experience and practice, but he's an incredibly capable young man as it stands.

Unique Abilities_______________________________________
└-Powers unique to the character.

Rage Drive: Brody has a high latent natural power to harness Ki, a fact he is completely unaware of. As a result, this power is only triggered in moments of extreme emotional shift. Fueled by all manner of negative emotions, and lead on by anger, Brody enters an enraged state with his body passively focusing and harnessing his Ki to boost his abilities. While this does not result in a change in his physical state or appearance, it does route Ki to increase the output of force and effort used by his body, effectively increasing his strength. This Rage Drive is incredibly difficult to trigger and requires a compounding of emotions. While in this heightened state he retains little recollection of his actions afterward. The longer spent in this state takes a toll on his more higher cognitive functions, hindering speech and reason to favor heightening reaction speed and focus. Once entered, Brody can remain in this state as long as he remains conscious, only falling out of it after the emotion has been worked out, or he is removed from the situation. Afterward, he's left physically and mentally exhausted. In a way, this ability is more of a curse than a boon for Brody.
