Rayquaza is an impressive serpentine dragon stretching a little over 85'. His entire body is covered in glistening emerald scales which shine brilliantly as he soars high in the ozone watching over the planet. Glowing gold lines run along his body in a simple symmetrical pattern. At his arms and at two additional points along his body are sets of four fins with red trim that are used to help Rayquaza properly maneuver through the sky. The tip of his tail fans out into two small horizontal wedges lined with a similar red trim. Rayquaza has two thin arms that are tipped with three clawed fingers Rayguaza commonly uses to grab prey and opponents. His head flows smoothly into his body similarly to many snakes. Likewise, his jaws contain a few noticeable fangs used in conjunction with his powerful jaws to quickly dispatch opposition. His jaws are also lined with a similar red trim to his fins and tail.
Upon Entering his Mega form, Rayquaza’s scales become even more pristine, and the energy within begins to seep out of his body as his size increases dramatically well over the hundreds. This energy takes a ribbon like form that reflects the ancient markings that line his normal body. All of his fins shift to become more angular and streamlined. The fins on his lower jaw jut forward like blades. His entire being becomes much more savage in appearance, the form complementing his already aggressive nature.

Angry is a word often used to describe Rayquaza's personality. However, the people who address him as such often only see him when he's summoned to help maintain the balance of the planet, a task that would likely make most angry. In fact, Rayquaza actually tends to remain rather calm as he patrols his home in the ozone layer or Sky Pillar. He holds himself to a level of respect above most others, and typically only intervenes when no other option is available. His aggression stems from years of watching people ravage the world for their own selfish desires. He's sworn to maintain the balance in the world, and he views most people as wanting to disrupt that balance.
Rayquaza has only placed a select few humans on a level that deems them worth his time, and even then, he remains arrogant towards them. His own followers, the Draconids, have faced incredible challenges where Rayquaza refused to intervene. Perhaps, though, this is all just a front that Rayquaza produces to hide how much he does truly care for the inhabitants of the planet he guards. Time and time again he's thrown himself in harm's way, not just for Pokémon, but also people, and while he'd have to admit the truth, it was thanks to humans that he regained the power of mega evolution via Dragon Ascent. It matters not what form he takes though, Rayquaza will always view himself as superior to his counterparts, no matter how much he may need them.

The sky was alight with surges of electricity that danced around wildly. The Clouds rolling and gray, encircling the massive stone tower that stood alone on the small rocky island. The wind howled as it blew through the spire, the Pokémon that dwelled within shuddering, not at the howls of the wind, but at the roars that echoed down from the spire’s top. It was here that the sky was clear, the heavens parting around the two dragons that hung in the air above the tower below.
“BOY! You still refute your place in this world!?” It was the prime who spoke. His roars halting the storm itself for a moment before the lightning continued its dance. His tone was always harsh, but now it was truly intended to spite the young Rayquaza who had returned seeking an audience. “Yet again you come before me seeking my guidance when you refuse to hear it in the first place! I grow tired of your foolishness!” If the boy had come seeking any form of comfort, he would not receive it.
“You are always like this, unwilling to look at the world and see that your way of thinking is flawed! You slander me and my actions, yet you refuse to take action yourself!” Now the lesser dragon let his words flow. His tone was not the same of his elder. He had no place to be harsh, but he’d wield his truths in defense.
“WATCH YOUR TONGUE BOY!” Again the Prime’s words silenced the storm. However, this time the sky remained quiet far longer as if it was afraid to continue. But alas, one rogue bolt of lightning shot out, breaking the silence with a roar of thunder. The blast of light casting grave shadows on the two dragons locked in each other’s glares.
“You tell me to watch my tongue; because you know I speak the truth.” The lesser dragon’s tone took a slight shift. It now had more confidence and was poised to strike out with its truth. “All you do is sit idly by as the world shifts. You are supposed to help make sure the world remains safe, balanced, and in order. Yet you dwell here and let the world boil in turmoil.” The prime remained silent, he had no words to contest.
“You slander the humans as lesser beings unfit of our help, yet without them, the world would have been thrown off balance. Two organizations sought to threaten the balance of the planet, but you failed to intervene until the humans sought you out. The young girl with them was one of your last living followers, but you didn’t take the time to care for them.” Still the lesser dragon lamented, and still, the prime remained silent.
“And what of our Mega form and our means to access it. You let it fall into history as you let the world tick by. Without humans, you’d never have regained your ascended power. You continue to harass me about my meddlings in human affairs, but you refuse to admit that without them, you’d have failed in your duties.” Finally he was done, and with him, the storm to stopped its rumbling.
The heavens that were parted around them closed. The rain that fell now coated the two dragons as they hung there in silence. The lesser Rayquaza waited in anticipation for what the prime would say. The words of his father, he couldn’t wait to hear their hypocrisy. But as time went on, his anticipation faded. The prime had yet to respond. His head merely hung as his gaze was aimed to everywhere but his lesser. The rain against the stone was the only sound that was made.
“You’re right. Is that what you wanted to hear? Is that why you came? To prove your own agenda?” The prime had finally broken the silence, but not in an expected way. His tone was uncharacteristic of him. It felt like a completely different being was speaking. “Do you expect me to refute my flaws? Do you think I’m unaware of my hypocrisy at times? My pride has always been my greatest flaw. Do you not think I knew not of its consequences?”
“I will not apologize for my past actions. I will not apologize for my words to you. But I am not so arrogant that I can’t hear the truth of your words.” The Prime's gaze finally returned to the lesser as he spoke. “The humans have done much for me… for us. But they constantly disrupt the balance of the planet they call home. They disregard their actions’ consequences. I grew tired of them, and I became reluctant to perform my duties.”
“But your words ring with truth. My cold heart was wrong to cast them all in the same light. There are humans that have striven to help keep the world right; I’ve just been too stubborn to admit it. I will not change my ways, but my way of thinking, that can be altered for the better. I want you to return to your ways, intervening as you please in human affairs. But know this, if you ever speak to me in such a way again, I will remove you from this world.” With that, the prime let out a piercing roar that silenced the rain and parted the clouds. The lesser Rayquaza circled the tower before soaring away into the breaking clouds. The Prime remained in his place above the tower.

Unlike Rayquaza (Prime), Rayquaza (Black) shows a much greater interest in the affairs of people and Pokémon. Rayquaza (Black) is notably the son of Rayquaza (Prime), but rather than follow in his father's footsteps, he chose to directly help choice individuals change the world. Notably, he partnered with Nobunaga, to help him realize his ambitions, and he has done similar for many other notable people. While both Rayquaza's are capable of taking a human form, it is Rayquaza (Black) who has gotten the most use out of his mortal form. He's taken up his human persona on many occasions to play an even more direct role in pushing change in the world. Much to his father's anger.
While Rayquaza (Black) may act mostly independent of his father. He still swears fealty to his superior. It was he who gave him the gift of transformation into a mortal form and the ability of mega evolution. Despite their differences, in the end, they have a common goal; the protection of the planet. Rayquaza (Black) would lay down his life, just as his father would, in order to protect the planet and creatures on it. He simply isn't consumed by the same arrogant pride that his father is.
However, Rayquaza's (Black) eagerness to intervene in mortal affairs has not always yielded the best results. He is often quick to take action, often before he grasps the consequences of his actions. Many wars have been fought, many lives lost, due to Rayquaza's (Black) interference. His eagerness makes him gullible, and often he realizes the mistakes of his actions far later than he should. However, he remains the son of Rayquaza (Prime), and may Arceus have mercy on anyone who dares attempt take advantage of Rayquaza (Black).
