Joint Base Oceanus

Welcome to Joint Base Oceanus, a floating military facility. Arguably the most iconic aspect of the Republic of Seafoam is its massive floating military facility, which houses all of its armed forces and is the size of any major mainland city. Though it qualifies as a naval base, Seafoam's floating military base is cross-service, and includes all the facilities necessary for the complete support, upkeep, and housing of Seafoam's armed forces, which number close to around 750,000 including noncombat personnel. Access to Joint Base Oceanus is restricted to military and civilian contractors only.

Locations Around Joint Base Oceanus

Interior Lagoon
At an average depth of sixty feet, the lagoon is able to accommodate the drafts of all vessels in use by the Republic of Seafoam Navy. Only the immediate mile in every direction from Joint Base Oceanus is restricted to military traffic only, leaving the remaining eighty percent of the lagoon free for use to all. Temporary restrictions apply when military vessels are entering or leaving the lagoon. The interior lagoon of Seafoam offers a vast variety of diversions, most popular being snorkeling and parasailing. A large and diverse number of Pokémon species populate the lagoon, primarily shallow-water and tropical species.

Seafoam Territorial Waters
Encompassing a fifty-mile bubble in all directions from the archipelago, the rich tropical ocean of Seafoam is filled with numerous ways to enjoy oneself. Thirty miles to the southeast of the island chain, the sea floor drops precipitously into a deep sea trench where many species of Pokémon that inhabit deeper waters, such as Chinchou, Huntail, and Gorebyss. Natural coral reefs are found along the north and eastern shores of Islands Five, Six, and Seven, home to species such as Clamperl, Corsola, Quilfish, and Staryu. The Corsola, Seafoam's most abundant species, are also known for gathering together in large numbers all over Seafoam's waters and making their own mobile, 'false' reefs. Scattered to the south and southwest of the archipelago are numerous scuttled ships, mostly of World War II-vintage battleships and aircraft carriers. These create artificial reefs loved by divers worldwide, and host more aggressive species such as Cloyster, Carvanha, and Sharpedo. Solo diving is not recommended, and divers should carry repellant. Lastly, the migration routes of Wailmer, Wailord, and other cetacean species passes through the eastern expanses of Seafoam's waters during the spring and autumn months.
