The streets are decorated with paper lanterns and streamers. People and children move and run among the stalls and attractions of the festival, dressed in traditional garb. The atmosphere is light and carefree.
Origami paper cranes and various other paper decorations glitter and flutter all around. Games and stalls selling souvenirs and food for the festival also are set up around the streets. But the voice of an old local woman catches everyone's attention.
"Gather around, children," smiled the old, wizened story teller. "Let me tell you just why we celebrate this eve, the seventh night of the seventh month."
With that, the woman spread her arms above, gesturing to the glittering Milky Way, and spoke.
"According to legend, there once was a young princess known as Orihime who loved a young herder named Hikoboshi...
Orihime was the Princess of the Heavens and her father, Tentei, was the Lord of the Stars and the Universe. She was well loved by her father, because Orihime was blessed and she wove beautiful silken cloth. So, because she loved her father, the princess worked very hard to weave cloth every day upon the river banks of the Milky Way.
But, Orihime was lonely and for this reason Tentei was concerned.
So the Lord of the Stars arranged for his daughter to meet with Hikoboshi, a young herdsmen who tended a herd of Miltank on the other side of the Milky Way. Hikoboshi and Orihime fell deeply in love, like no other pair of lovers could. Shortly after, the pair married.
However, once married, Orihime no longer wove the beautiful cloth that her father loved, and Hikoboshi did not tend his herd, allowing the Miltank to stray all across the heavens and the Milky Way.
Tentei became angry which his daughter and his son-in-law and separated them across the Milky Way, forbidding the two to see each other forevermore. Saddened so by the loss of her husband, Orihime begged her father to allow to see the husband she loved so much, in tears. She pleaded that Tentei allow her to meet with Hikoboshi.
Moved by his daughter's tears, Tentei consented. He would allow the two to meet upon the seventh day of the seventh month, so long as Orihime worked hard and finished her weaving.
When the first time for them to meet came, however, they found that they could not cross the river of the Milky Way, as there was no bridge. Orihime began to cry. The princess cried so much that a flock of Taillow came and promised to fashion a bridge with their wings so that she could cross the river.
And so, every year, on the seventh day of the seventh month, the two lovers are reunited, as is their deepest and truest wish."
The old storyteller smiled at the faces of the children before her. Even some of the older people gathered to the festival had stopped to listen to the tale. She nodded, gesturing again towards the lanterns of paper that glowed with light. Towards the bamboo that stood in pots all along the festival's stalls and many aisles.
"This is why, listeners, on the seventh day of the seventh month, that we hang our own wishes upon the branches of the trees. This is why we set those wishes upon rafts at midnight and set them alight... in hopes that they too may, one day, come true."

Bella listened to the tale of the lovers, a smile across her face. Her dark red hair was let lose in beautiful waves down to her mid back. In celebration she had decided to wear something that she had mad herself. A white corset with no straps is what consisted of her top, the back low cut and coming to a V. The corset continued from her waist, separating in the front and cascading out a foot, the white silk turning into a threaded lace that made a star pattern. Under the she had regular black shorty shorts and then a pair of white and black converse. Her bangs were pined back, so they cascaded behind her ear. The clip was her own design as well. It was a small yellow star that had white and gold ribbon coming out the back. A white feather also came from the top, complimenting her garment.
She turned and walked around the many markets that dotted the area. She loved all the different stores that layered such events. each one reminded her of something different she had seen on her travels. Some even made new memories. Bella stopped at a small jewelry store, a crystal star necklace catching her eye. A shadow moved through the street, no one seeming to notice it. The shadow creeper along the markets, a white paw fluttering from it as it grew closer to Bella. Suddenly, it leaped and landed right beside the girl, the store owner jumping in shock. Bella didn't even seem to notice.
She looked down at her absol, smiling and patting his head.

Seth leaned against a tree as he listened to the old woman's story. A tale of two lovers, and of wishes. He thought it was a nice story. Most likely not true, but nice, nonetheless.
The young man then let out a small chuckle as he began to walk down a path towards the river. His Charmander, who was walking alongside him looked up at him curiously. "Sorry." he said, a smile still lingering on his face, "Just remembering a friend." Indded, he was. Seth's friend, Amy, would have probably scolded him for thinking the old woman's story was just 'nice'. She would have thought the story was romantic, and inspiring.
Then, remembering Amy made Seth remember his Squirtle. Last time Seth had seen his first Pokémon, he was giving him to Amy. He remembered the Turtle Pokémon breaking it's Poké Ball, and refusing to look at him. Seth looked down at Charmander and hoped nothing similar happened with him.
After a couple minutes, Seth and Charmander reached the river. The young man could see the wishes of others hung on the trees, and got an idea. He took out a wish tag he'd recieved earlier, and began to write, "I wish to become a better Trainer to my Pokémon. -Seth Rhidos" "Char, char!" Charmander exclaimed. "You have a wish too?" Seth asked. Charmander nodded. "Alright, have at her" Seth said, handing another wish tag, and a pen to the Pokémon. After a couple moments, Charmander handed the tag back, and Seth smiled.
On the wish tag was a drawing. It looked like a stickman next to a lizard-like creature. "Very nice." Seth said.

Lyn listened as the old women finished her story about the two lovers. She walked away and started to browse the booths for anything she might like.
"All this stuff looks so cool I wish I could buy it all, but I'm limited." Lyn said dissapointedly and started walking towards a tree with wish tags in it's branches.

There are dozens that you would probably expect here. Among them, however, was one who people would probably not expect.
A long elegant kimono framed a female body, obi tied ceremonially at her back. Wooden sandals held her taller still, and her movements were marked with uncharacteristic grace.
An ornate looking veil, fashioned to accompany the kimono adorned her head, and draped about her shoulders, tassels chiming softly, the tiny bells woven into the fabric jingling as she moved. Her hands were folded in front of her, beneath the veil, into the sleeves of her kimono, and it was from beneath this fabric that she watched, and enjoyed the festival, long straight brown hair framing inquisitive eyes.
It was with a gentle touch that she pushed away the minds of others, but here, in a case like this, the atmosphere and the minds of others were filled with pure thoughts, thoughts which she could appreciate and enjoy, rather than fearing and running from.
A petite looking Espeon moved at her side, it's tail swishing back and forth as it weaved through the crowd with her.
She had lingered on the outskirts of the area where the old woman told the tale of two lovers. And after the tale's finish, she had broken away from the crowd to pin her own wishes upon a low hanging branch. She had wishes of her owns, dreams of her own.
And if anyone could understand the hopes and dreams of a girl destined to be alone, perhaps it was Orihime.
