Kobushi [Male Riolu] — “Gi, Yu, Jin, Rei, Makoto, Meiyo, Chugi.”Kobushi is the first pokémon that Jei ever received, getting him from his grandfather, Melchior. Kobushi is an unusual little Riolu, very serious and a bit rough around the edges, he wears a sakkat on top of his head like a wandering ronin when out of his Poké Ball, leaving Jei and her family to face palm. He’s had Kobushi since he was 10, and the two have been friends since their first meeting. —Gift from Melchior.
Ability: Inner Focus Akagane [Male Pichu] — “...Is it tasty?”This pokémon was given to Jei to train in his travels by her father, Takahisa. Akagane is the deep color of copper, this being what earned him his name. Mischievous and a bit spoiled, he is usually seen pilfering through Jei's satchel for something to eat. —Gift from Takahisa.
Ability: Static Chu [Female Smoochum] — “...ara?”Chu is probably the most scatter brained pokémon that Jei could ever have the fortune or misfortune to own. Jei entered a writing contest. Though he earned second place, he is sometimes left wishing he hadn't. Hoping that Chu would straighten up with training, Jei decided to take Chu with him. Chu is easily distracted, and usually spends all her time staring off into space. —Received from an advent.
Ability: Oblivious Tamago [Male Togepi] — “Happy Happy Joy Joy~”Tamago is not long out of his egg, and usually spends most of his time sleeping. Lazy and care-free, he’s spoiled and tends to stick close to Jei most of the time, preferring the obvious shelter that he offers. Despite his laziness, Tamago is a very happy-go-lucky pokémon when active, and it takes a lot to phase him. —Gift from Melchior.
Ability: Serene Grace Taikou [Female Happiny] — “Get plenty of rest and drink lots of water.”Taikou is caring and sweet, loving and kind, everything one would expect from a model Happiny. Hatched from her mother’s Chansey, she is a very motherly type, often fussing at Jei for drawing instead of eating and spending too long traveling. She has been with Jei for a while, and the two have a companionable friendship. —Gift from Rachel.
Ability: Natural Cure Okibi [Female Magby] — “Night of fire~!”A gift from his father and the second of the two pokémon resulting from his Magmar, Jei took the pair to the Magby his younger brother now works with. Hot tempered and brash, she’s a fiery little thing and prefers to charge in first without thinking. Still, she’s one of Jei’s two strongest pokémon at the moment, and one of the only two he ever really sends into battle. —Gift from Takahisa.
Ability: Flame Body

Jei’s appearance is very gender ambiguous, and this leads most people to being unable to determine if Jei is male or female, and Jei isn’t very helpful in clarifying. Biologically Jei is female, but most of the time they present themselves as somewhere in-between, preferring an androgynous look for themselves. Keeping their chest bound down, and wearing loose shirts that don’t usually betray a curve, they take great care to make certain that people either look at them and see a male at first glance, though even this can change.
In terms of clothing, Jei’s outfits vary depending on the day and how they're feeling. They have a pretty wide wardrobe for a person their age. They carry a grey shoulder bag that houses the notebook they're always scribbling in, food, and a couple of spare Pokéballs. They also wear a yin yang necklace at their throat, a symbol of balance, and a keepsake that was given to them by their grandfather.
Height wise, Jei is 5'8, with blonde hair that's kept cropped short, and now with the addition of multiple ear piercings, that connect to a stud that goes through their lip. These are actually clip-on, and Jei takes them off whenever the mood strikes them to be more serious. Their fashion doesn't change much between male and female, except that pants are exchanged for skirts and sneakers are traded out for hiking boots.

On a personal level, Jei is a very conflicted individual. And that's before you factor in their gender fluidity. Dealing with a mild level of body dysphoria, and also struggling under the fact that, despite presenting as male, they won't ever be fully comfortable as male or female has left Jei a mess - sometimes. If you can strip down past the issues and anxieties that they have over their body, however, what lies beneath is a reliable individual who has a goal in mind for their life. In conversation, Jei will refer to themselves as male or female, and will usually answer when someone calls them either he or she, though that can be sometimes difficult to deal with when they're intentionally dressing as one or the other, rather than the middle ground they usually walk.
With an impulsive streak that means they tend to leap before they look, Jei can get themselves into some pretty prickly situations. But they're fast enough on their feet to get out of them, at least most of the time. They make and lose friends as easily as anyone else, but take things like promises very seriously, even if the friendships forged around them eventually fade. Being an older sibling has given them great patience with younger children and baby pokémon, something that their family insists will make them a good breeder in the future.
One of the most unique traits about Jei, while not an extension of psychic power that they're aware of, is the fact that they're incredibly empathic to those they surround themselves with, both pokémon and people. This is usually displayed in that they can easily tell when something is bothering someone, and can typically tell almost immediately what’s bothering their pokémon.

Name: Rachel Motomori — "Just because I prefer younger men doesn't mean I'm not a woman of experience."Age: 41 Gender: Female Relationship: Mother Trainer Orientation: Good Trainer Class: Pokémon Breeder Rachel is the daughter of Melchior Zaman, Wife of Takahisa Motomori, and the mother of Jei, Wes, and Kaiya. A pokémon breeder by profession, she spends most of her time working, and when she isn’t working, she’s tending to her family. As a mother she’s caring and loving, supporting Jei through their gender confusion and encouraging him to be whatever he chooses. Name: Takahisa Motomori — "What? Oh, yeah, I thought the angle of the light on that one was really good."Age: 33 Gender: Male Relationship: Father Trainer Orientation: Good Trainer Class: Pokémon Breeder, Artist Jei’s father Takahisa is, in few words, a pervert. Younger than her mother by almost a decade, he was an artist long before he decided to become a Pokémon breeder. Ending up with Rachel by the virtue of her pregnancy with Jei, and staying with her because they fell in love, he prefers older women, is excellent at math, and carries a rubix cube on his belt on a chain, messing with it when bored. As a father he’s a bit scatter brained, but cares genuinely for all three of his children. Name: Wes Motomori — "Daaaad! She's being bossy again!" Kaiya Motomori — "Mooom! He's touching me!"Age: 10 Gender: Male / Female Relationship: Twin Younger Siblings Trainer Orientation: Good Trainer Class: New Trainers Twins, Wes and Kaiya are a handful and a half, and the one thing that Jei is happy to get away from while on their journey. Born when she was five, the two have been inseparable ever since and are prone to getting into trouble. Wes is the more aggressive of the two, getting into constant fights, while Kaiya is the sound voice of reason between the two of them, trying to keep Wes out of trouble. They haven’t yet begun their own journey.

The eldest child of Takahisa and Rachel Motomori, Jei was born in Rustboro City. At the age of three, her family moved from Rustboro to an area not far from Oldale Town, where their parents established a Pokémon Breeding Center. This business dominated the life of the family, and Jei was no exception.
Aside from the business, Jei had always been the center of her family’s world, and when her twin siblings came along and things suddenly changed, Jei became withdrawn. Around this time she grew closer to her grandfather, Rachel’s father, Melchior. He was a prominent force in her life, and despite the fact that they lived a good distance apart, they kept in constant contact.
Jei’s family life became more strained as the twins grew, and she went through a period of gender confusion at age 10, the same time her grandfather gifted her with her Riolu, Kobushi. It was around this time that she started dressing as a boy, migrating from skirts to pants, blouses to loose shirts, and binding down what little bit of a chest she was starting to develop. She made the transition from being confused about what she was to being absolutely certain at age 13, the first time she was asked to a dance by a young man from her school.
Much more recently, Jei broached the subject of becoming a pokémon breeder with his parents and was met with immediate refusal. Despite his experience, he knew only one side of the relationship a trainer has with pokémon, and they insisted he go on a journey of his own. He refused adamantly and it wasn’t until his grandfather interjected with the suggestion that he use it as a chance to grow that he finally relented, and began his pokémon journey.

He chuckled when the wrench hit the other guys foot, and winced slightly as he fell back to the ground. “Yanno, it could be you’re just getting frustrated and not approaching it right. Maybe take it apart entirely then put it back together?” He shrugged his shoulders, and reached out to poke lightly at the Torchic looking under the sakkat with an outstretched finger.
“I can draw decent.. maybe if we work together? You take it apart and I sketch the pieces, see if we can fit it back together like a puzzle? I dunno, I’ve never been very handy with fixing things,” he extended the bottle in his other hand out, offering the other boy a drink.
“I mean, anything has got to be better than what you’re doing, right?” Jei glanced at Kobushi, who was shaking his head at the curiosity of the other pokémon. The Riolu finally just reached up and slanted the sakkat further forward, giving a sort of grin at the Torchic.
