Marionette [Female Meganium] — Sweet, darling puppet dangling from my heartstrings.

Marionette is the fully evolved Chikorita that Johnny started off with. She was given to Johnny by his mother, and the two have been the best of friends from that day on. “Mari,” as she is often called, is very sweet and affectionate. The only time she acts fierce is in battle or when protecting her trainer. She is capable of taking a hit.

The petals around her neck are a calm blue color. Her eyes are a soft purple, and her skin is a vibrant green. Marionette was imported from Johto.

Swalot [Male Swalot] — You can’t eat his hat. It lacks fiber. …And everything else, too.

During Johnny’s high school days in Sunyshore, the boy and his friends left for spring break in order to camp in Eterna Forest. Swalot, at the time a Gulpin, belonged to one of Johnny’s friends. While trying to solve the mystery of why the Gulpin wanted to eat the friend’s hat, said friend threw Gulpin’s Poké Ball at Johnny and told the boy to keep it. Since then, Johnny has taken care of the disowned Pokémon, and even made him into a sturdy member of his team.

Abrem [Male Abra] — A Psychic Wonder.
[Ability: Synchronize][Level 55][Gentle Nature]
Abrem was hatched knowing the move Barrier. During Johnny’s high school days, he was assigned to take care of a Pokémon egg. The egg wasn’t meant to hatch, but it did, and the little Abra refused to leave the pink-haired boy’s side. Abrem, now grown up a bit, is an easy-going Pokémon, but constantly clings to his trainer. Growing up, he would always steal Johnny’s bandana. The boy gave up on keeping the thing, and just let Abrem have it.

As the case goes for most Abra, Abrem is able to access a limited amount of moves that would be seen in Kadabra or Alakazam.

Lucid [Male Lapras] — The power of dragons in one fluid motion.
[Ability: Shell Armor][Level 49][Relaxed Nature]
The very day Johnny left for Sinnoh, he came across this Lapras. Lucid had approached the sullen boy, and rested his head on the young man’s lap. The two sat quietly, enjoying the sounds of the water and the forest. When it was time to go, the Lapras looked so sad. It was then that Johnny decided to capture the Pokémon, and Lucid has been with him ever since.

Though he is very relaxed and calm, Lucid is a powerful ally. He obediently follows Johnny’s orders, and very rarely will he let anger and frustration shine through. The only time it is obvious that he’s enraged is during the heat of an excruciating battle.

Cadaver [Female Skarmory] — A steel machine with iron wings and an adamantine soul.
[Ability: Keen Eye][Level 45][Adamant Nature]
Cadaver was a gift from Johnny’s stepfather, Hennessy. She was quite young at the time, so she seemed innocent and gentle. Despite Johnny’s attempts at raising her to be a gentle Pokémon, Cadaver turned out to be quite brutal. She doesn’t know when enough is enough, and will keep striking at her foes. Obedience isn’t something she is fond of, and expresses it daily.

"Keep the smiles lasting forever."

 

At first glance, most people would mistake Johnny for being female. His exotic appearance is inherited from his mother. His hair, much like Elaine’s, is a bright pink, long in length, and has a very flow-y look to it. His eyes are almond-shaped and dark in color. Johnny has a tall-and-lean build, but he sometimes walks with a limp in his right leg.

His outfit stands out a little less than his hair, thankfully. He usually wears a green vest over a white, long-sleeved shirt. Black pants or jeans are very common, as well as a pair of brown boots or Velcro-strapped shoes. Johnny used to sport a black bandana with a white Poké Ball symbol on it, but has given up on wearing it due to his Abra.

Though his accent has changed drastically over the years, it always shows when he’s frustrated or upset. This “accent” has a very Germanic sound to it.

All-in-all, Johnny is just out to have a good time. Whether it’s with friends, family, Pokémon, or that guy from down the street, to be exact… He usually always has a smile on his face because of this. Johnny is the type of person who will go out of his way just to cheer someone up.

While he believes that happiness is the foundation of progress, he knows that some things cannot be warded off with a cheerful expression. Sometimes, you have to get dirty. Sometimes you have to fight tooth and nail in order to survive. Johnny is a survivalist, but more importantly he is a defender. If any of his friends are in a bind, he’ll step in to help them, or at the very least give them his support.

"You said you’d never tell anyone…"

 

For the most part, Jonathan grew up on Tangelo Island. He had quite a group of friends from whom he drew love and support. This group, including Johnny, was known as the “Peacocks.” They were the outcasts of the island, essentially. But if you messed with one, you messed with them all. It is likely that Johnny developed his defensive personality from this group of people.

Before Johnny met his friends in the Peacocks, he was a secluded child. He showed no signs of interest in leaving the house. Xavier was upset with this, and Elaine grew worried. It was she who ordered Marionette, Johnny’s Chikorita, to be imported. The boy and the Pokémon took to each other like butter on toast. The two would later be great partners, but only ever battled for fun or protection.

While growing up on Tangelo, Johnny got active with sports. This was short-lived, seeing as during one friendly game, Johnny tripped over a Pokémon buried in the sand. Said Pokémon turned out to be one angry Kingler, which proceeded to crush Johnny’s right knee in its strong pincer. The Pokémon was fended off quickly by the boy’s friends, but his knee was too damaged. He was informed that he’d never be able to walk on it again, but years of therapy and practice have proven otherwise. He’s able to walk and run just fine, now (albeit with an obvious limp after so long), however; jumping or landing with that leg is a no-go.

During high school in Sunyshore, Johnny experienced many things: love, hate, friendship, heartbreak…even betrayal. But he never let it keep him down. He struggled through the inevitable divorce of his mother and father, and was honestly glad to see his mother re-marry. She was happier with this new man, and in turn Johnny would learn to be happy with his new family.

Now, with the experiences of life backing him up, Johnny seeks to expand his horizons. He’s taken on the Kanto League Challenge, and has so far obtained the Boulder Badge from Pewter City. Recently, Johnny has made his way to Cerulean City, where he plans to challenge Misty for her badge.
