After an amount of bickering and deliberating, Nikolai finally managed to convince Avery to spend some time picking up and buying supplies in Saffron. While the stores of the shining city weren't as large as those of Celadon's, it was still easy to lose one's self in the places... and that presented the ability for Nikolai to get... well. Lost.

Which was not actually something Nikolai intended to do. He just didn't plan on traveling Sinnoh unprepared, and as such, he was currently checking the racks of heavier jackets for a decent find.

Fingering the leather of one of the trimmed jackets on the rack infront of him, Nikolai critically considered the price. It would be an easy matter to purchase. Stas was literally rolling in it, and his father had given him a card to access the account in question. The thing was, Nikolai didn't like to rely on his father's money when he could avoid it.

And they could have avoided it if they had turned around to Celadon and packed. Now they were stuck with buying new. Scowling at the thought, Nikolai swung the jacket over his arm and then checked that off his mental checklist.

Nikolai had said supplies. It took Avery a bit of convincing that that's what the blonde actually planned on doing (as opposed to running back to Celadon). The bargaining chip was what finally won the battle.

So, like the simple-thinking man he was, Avery got exactly that: supplies. Cold-weather clothing didn't cross his mind in the least. He was born in Snow Point City during the peak of winter. The last thing that occurred to him was how cold it could get.

When he couldn't find Nikolai, Avery began thinking that the guy really did go back to Celadon. But after roaming around, searching for the blonde man, Avery slowly began reasoning that maybe he got lost or something. It took Dallas tapping the blue on the shoulder, as well as pointing to a shop window, to finally find and locate the blonde.

Avery gave a soft sigh of relief as he walked into the store and over to his reluctant companion. He eyed the leather jacket, then raised a brow. ...Then promptly lowered it. Nikolai might look good in leather. ...And leather would look good on the--- no, don't go there.

"Just a head's up: you don't need to worry about scarves until we get further in Sinnoh."

At the sound of bells, Nikolai galnced towards the door, seeing a familiar flash of blue hair and the tall frame of a Blaziken. Snorting absently, he turned to inspect the assortment of gloves and heavier socks infront of him. Just as he was taking his pick of the warmly-lined gloves (his own weren't as practical for cold weather), Avery pipped up.

"Just a head's up, you don't need to worry about scarves until we get further in Sinnoh."

Nodding mutely, and then only very slightly, Nikolai grabbed a pair of the socks and then examined his choices. Jacket, gloves, heavy socks... a long-sleeved shirt or two would probably be sufficient. If there was one thing that Nikolai absolutely despised, it was the cold.

Shaking his head and muttering under his breath, Nikolai began to walk in the direction of the knit shirts. The last thing he wanted to happen on this stupid trip was to get sick.

Avery kept relatively quiet, not wanting to bother the guy more than he already had. Seemed like Nikolai was getting the thickest fabric of anything he could find. Which...told Avery one thing.

"I take it you don't like the cold, huh?" He had to frown at this. Not only as a Snowpoint native or an Ice trainer, but for working Nikolai so hard into going. "...It doesn't get that cold until the point where northern Sinnoh and southern Sinnoh meet, you know."

Giving a snort in reply as he selected two plain long-sleeved shirts. Nikolai eyed Avery carefully. Tucking the white articles over the black of the ones he had already gathered together, the man began his trip towards the register while digging in his jacket pocket for his wallet.

"I happen to despise the cold. And since you of all people want to go to Sinnoh as the seasons are turning towards winter, to the coldest part of the region, I'm not going there without proper clothing."

Setting the new clothes on the counter-top, he eyed the cashier coolly as she checked his things out and began to fold them up and tuck them into a paper bag. Tilting his head back in Avery's direction, he shook his head without a word.

Glancing back away from the blue, he sighed. It would be better if he kept his temper and didn't get upset with Avery. That hadn't proved a good course of action last time. Best to see this out and be rid of the man forever.

Avery frowned once more. This time, he even gave a small grumble as he scratched the back of his head. He hadn't thought about it turning to winter soon. He watched as Nikolai took his things to the counter, and, with a quick stride, the bluenette made to intercept the bill.

"Then let me pay for this as an apology. I didn't know you don't like the cold." As he handed over his card to the cashier, Avery ran a hand through the hair that was loose from his ponytail. "...Ericson's going to lecture me about this," he muttered under his breath, then proceeded to clear his throat and address the blonde once again.

"Is there anything else you need, then?"

Reaching to grasp Avery's hand before the card to get to the cashier, Nikolai found himself too slow to stop the blunette from getting it to the girl. He frowned as the plastic made its electronic journey through the payment device. Shaking his head, he glanced to Avery, arching a brow.

"You didn't need to. For one, those gloves are probably more expensive than your entire get up."

Without a reply to the cashier's customary "thank you, come again," Nikola grasped the bag and made his way outside.

"Is there anything else you need, then?"

Going down his mental check list, Nikolai held up his and and started counting off on his fingers. "Basic Rocket conduct says we should have food, equipment for camping, spare clothing, trekking equipment for when in need of camping. Also if possible a GPS and other various supplies." Nikolai was, definitely... very by the book.

At this, Avery simply had to shrug. He wasn't one to wear designer everything like some people, but he didn't have a problem with paying for an outfit or two now and then. Besides, it's not like he did much growing since he was 17: everything from then still fit.

"I don't mind," he stated as he accepted his card back and tucked it away in his wallet. "It just means that my friend gets to yell at me when he sees what I spent it on."

He listened quietly as Nikolai went on and on about what they needed. Camping equipment, GPS, and spare clothes weren't things he had gone to get earlier, so they still had some time to spend in Saffron.

"...Okay, not sure where to find a GPS system here, but I'll work on that. I did get some non-perishables and medicines: they're going to be shipped to the shipyard." He paused to open the door for Nikolai, then eyed the bag he was carrying. Always the gentleman (well, when not off his rocker), he had to ask, "Do you want me to carry that for you?" as he gestured to said bag.

"It just means that my friend gets to yell at me when he sees what I spent it on."

Arching a delicate eyebrow at that, Nikolai shook his head. Avery's friends were of little concern to him, and if the blue wanted to wash his own money, Nikolai didn't care. He could have afforded the clothing, easily, and he hadn't asked Avery to pay for it. There had been no need to do what he had done, and if he got shit for it, well, it was his problem.

Frown deepening as Avery offered to carry the bag, the blonde shook his head once more. "What do I look like? ...On second consideration, don't answer that. I wouldn't want to hear your answer."

With that, he turned and left the store. Honestly. It was a bag of clothing. Like he couldn't carry it. Glancing to one of the street signs, he dug for the name of it in his memory. If they were currently on 5th street, then Silph Co. was on 1st. Stalking off in the direction of the well known gadgetry store, he didn't even bother to give Eskridge a second glance.

PokéNavs made for a decent GPS system. He sighed. Oh well... now he would have a spare, since his other one was back in Celadon.

"What do I look like? ...On second consideration, don't answer that. I wouldn't want to hear your answer."

Avery gave a slight glare to the back of Nikolai's head. As he followed after the other, he casually stuffed his hands in his pockets.
"I was just trying to be polite. I swear, everything I do it's like you want to shoot me for. ...Scratch that, you'd probably shoot me for no reason." And for some reason, he just had to grin at his own statement.

As they neared the different streets, it clicked in Avery's head about that GPS thing Nikolai mentioned. He never spent much time in Saffron, so he'd forgotten all about the famed Silph Co. The longer he spent in this town, the bigger of an idiot he felt. So in order to get his mind off of things, he simply stated that he'd go take care of the camping equipment. It's a good thing he had a couple of muscle-packed Pokémon on hand, too.

Nikolai shrugged his shoulders at Avery's words. Truth be told, he was ignoring every other word out of the blue's mouth. He was here to get the blue off of his back, not to listen to him. Infact, Nikolai would be content to spend most of the trip ignoring Eskridge completely.

Turning down 1st street and heading for the rather large and tall building shimmering in the sunlight due to its glassy exterior, Nikolai continued onward undaunted.

Still, he had to frown. Other than Eskridge buying spare clothes, they seemed like they would be finished shopping after this. He went down the list in his head again, for probably the fifth time. Hmm... it certainly seemed that way. If he was forgetting anything, they could always pick it up in Vermilion.

With that in mind, he stepped through the revolving glass doors and into the large complex that was Silph. Co. Granted, he knew Silph wasn't the creator of the PokéNav. That was Devon's doing. But still, they two companies had sort of a merger, so they might be able to find a Nav here, if they were lucky.

After reading over a map maybe three times, and stopping for directions an even amount (the guy was never good with navigating inside a city, for some reason), Avery found the camping supply store. The selection wasn't as wide as Celadon's, which Nikolai would probably bring up. Another reason why Avery's an idiot.

Knowing Nikolai would hate sharing a tent with the blue, Avery actually considered getting two. But that would mean more time spent setting up and taking down. He made a note to argue that fact if it came up and settled for a somewhat spacious one where the blonde could easily claim one side as his own. Sleeping bags, compass (computers weren't always exact), other nameable camping equipment... All paid for and packed tight and ready for a strong flier to carry.

"Okay, Aeros," Avery started as he pat the rock type's snout, "You're going to have to carry this for me, okay? Dallas, you stay with her to make sure she's safe." With a nod from the fire and a caw from the rock, Avery went back to where he had left Nikolai. Aeros took to the sky, while Dallas kept an eye on her from below.

He had asked the first attendant he had seen to direct him to where he could purchase a PokéNav. Then, with a frown, the girl informed him that she hadn't seen any in stock.

Another ten minutes later, and after having checked numerous times in the computer catalog for the Navs, and then later checking the store rooms themselves, the event ended with Nikolai being rather PokéNav-less.

Sighing to himself and chewing a moment on the inside of his cheek, Nikolai finally shrugged and left the store. Standing absently outside the doors to wait for Eskridge, he lost himself in his thoughts.

Father, simply, was going to be furious about this. Nikolai for certain was going to have to get in contact with the man before he left Kanto at all, to inform him what was happening. Infact, if he wasn't already beside himself with anger, Nikolai would sheer his hair off.

Aeros landed a few feet away from the blonde before her trainer even got there. The fossil Pokémon eyed him cautiously, making slight clicking noises as she settled on the ground.

"Any luck?" Avery asked as he walked up to Nikolai. He had his arms crossed behind his head the entire time. "We don't have much left to do here, do we?" He was doing his best to make it less obvious that he was getting antsy and eager to leave.

Looking up as Avery neared, Nikolai shook his head. "None. We'll do without." Then he shrugged at the second question. "That's your call, not mine. You're orchestrating this all, as it were."

WIth that, Nikolai eyed the Aerodactyl and then rose an eyebrow. Interesting color, that... Sighing and flicking some of his hair over his shoulder, Nikolai returned his gaze to Avery, awaiting the blunette's decision.
