Respect - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
R-E-S-P-E-C-T! FIND OUT WHAT IT MEANS TO ME! This is the most important rule on the entire board. Let's not go pick fights because you think Panic! at the Disco is better than Fall Out Boy.

We as people demand respect. Respect comes on many levels. Generally, we ask that members respect one another enough to do things like follow the rules, be mindful of the wishes of their fellow members and not use derogatory terms or make inflammatory remarks. There is a certain level of tact that we want people to display.

The staff isn't asking you to do away with your opinions, they're asking you to kindly keep them in check and not ruin the fun of the board by talking about topics that society understands to be uncomfortable. (Racism, abortion, etc.) So, please, if you're racist or otherwise... be racist. Just keep it off my board. c: I don't care what your reasons are, I hope they're good ones, but if I see personal attacks, you will be reprimanded harshly.

As I said, respect comes on many levels. If you're not capable of getting along with someone, and the staff understands that not everyone is capable of getting along, kindly ignore them and move on with your roleplaying. If another member and you are having a hard time getting along, the general rule of thumb the staff follows is that you just do not talk to or about them. If you do, they tend to view it as instigation and that can result in you getting a warning or a ban.

Flame Wars - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
If any are started, contact any of the mods and we'll take care of it immediately.

Spamming & Advertising - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Please don't spam stuff on our boards. Spamming also includes short messages and double-posting. Avoid doing this at all costs and you won't receive a punishment from the sattfies. Really this shouldn't be a problem unless you're here for the wrong reasons, but chances are if you're reading this, then you're a good person. c:

If you're here to advertise, we have a board for that. Feel free to use it as you wish.

Cursing & Violence - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
We don't care if you guys swear and curse at one anothers' characters as you RP, but it better not get out of hand. We don't want to see swear word after swear word in one post. Keep it limited, okay? Next, about cursing OOC... If you're saying something about a particular topic, or it's just part of your speech, that's okay, but no direct attacks. Violence levels can get just as high as it gets in anime and games and maybe a little higher.

Illegal or Explicit Images[/ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The rules are lax, but we do not want to see any adult images or links to adult sites on here. If you want to tell people about something funny you found that is a bit risky then link to it and make it clear in your post that it is not work safe/mind safe or that it's explicit. The last thing we want is a member grounded from using the computer because he clicked on the wrong topic while their parent was in the room.

Signatures - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Please no more than two images per signature. Just please recognize that the size of the image should be, at most, 550x300px and nothing over. So, keep that in mind. If your signature is deleted, it's because you didn't follow this rule. However, there is an exception to this. If you have clickable eggs/Pokémon from sites like Global PokédeX Plus or DragonCave or the like, you may have all six (or however many eggs you have in your party) in your signature in addition to your one or two signatures.

Listing your characters in your signature is mandatory.

Activity - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Be sure to stay active. If you are going to be absent be sure to post in the Hellos & Goodbyes forum. We run a check for activity every now and then. Sometimes it is in the form of a thread in where there will be no emails sent out, other times it is using a prune function.

We reserve the right to prune accounts with discretion, meaning even if there wasn't activity check, we sometimes will prune accounts if your account says you haven't logged in for x amount of months.

Active Threads - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
While we don't want to limit how many active thread a character may have, we have to realize that Pokémon is a different fandom than others. It's a whole world. Therefore, we would prefer that you keep the number of threads for each character to a smaller amount but, you have free reign. Just, please, if you're going to region hop, make sure you're not opening a thousand threads with no one to RP with. Find a partner before hand, that's all we ask. There is only one real restriction. You may have no more than one Gym Battle thread active per character.

Character Limitations - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Members may have a total of ten canon characters, though which kinds they can have varies based on the canon. Players may have:

---No more than two Arc Characters (which are player characters and rivals from the games).
---No more than five Major Characters (which are Gym Leaders, Elites, Frontier Brains, Team Bosses and select others [typically someone who was once one of the aforementioned but is not any longer] with no more than three of any one kind).
---No more than five Minor Characters (most other characters, including Pokémon Conquest characters, of which you can have no more than three).
---No more than two Legendary Pokémon (one major Legendary and one minor).

An example: The player Mary has Ash and Gary, two Arc Characters, and she also plays Misty, Lt. Surge, Erika, Archie and Giovanni, five Major Characters (three of which are Gym Leaders, she  couldn't exchange Giovanni or Archie for a fourth Gym Leader), and five more Minor Characters. She still has room for two Legendary Pokémon to max out at fourteen characters. (Yes, there is room to have a huge number of canons, but most people don't take canons in the first place, so the harm is not seen.)

The Character Lists boards lists what type of canon each character is.

There is no limit on the number of original characters one may have. And original Gym Leaders or Elites or the like do not count towards your canon total.

Point of View - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Roleplays should take place in Third Person Limited POV. Second Person POV should never be used. First Person POV can be used for thoughts, but not for the bulk of your posts. We only restricted this for quoting purposes and for unity among the role plays in the forum. Third Person Omniscient, obviously, would be god modding, as you are in the head of other people's characters. It's okay if you're in the head of the Pokémon you own though, because they're yours.

Roleplay Tense - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
RPs should be in past tense, preferably, with allowances where appropriate.

God Modding - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Nobody likes it when you can't hit them and you have it to where you basically win every battle that you get yourself into. If you are caught god modding, you'll be PM'd a warning and if god modding continues, we will temporarily ban you from the site for two days. If the problem continues, then further action will be taken. Remember... things aren't always going to go your way. Twisting it so that they do is something that the admins and moderators frown down upon. Not everyone is fortunate.

Areas Currently Undefined - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
If an area or location is currently lacking in the canons that dwell in it, then it can not be affected on a large or damaging scale. "You can not destroy that which does not yet exist." There is a need for at least one of the canons in that place to have been claimed by a non-staff-stand-in before it can be affected by something highly altering.

This is to say, for example, you can't run around and blow up Cerulean City until someone plays a major canon that dwells there, like Misty. This, however, is up to staff discretion. If you're unsure, PM MizuJakkaru or BoriBam, and they'll give you an okay and maybe even add it to the plot upkeep thread.

Being a Wild Pokémon - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You can not, unfortunately, be a registered Wild Pokémon character here, but you may play them as secondary in your threads, or play your character catching their Pokémon. If you want to make a Pokémon character with a full blown profile, the place we do allow for it is in the Non-Canon category, in the Mystery Dungeon forum.

Now that you've read the rules, you're ready to RP with us here at PokéFiends. Please put the word "cheese" at the bottom of your first profile to let us know you've read the rules. You might also want to read some of the other threads in the Trainer's Guide forum, as they help clarify some of the things you can and can not do with Trainers and Pokémon here.
