Name: Lance Wataru Nickname: Age: early- to mid-thirties Trainer Orientation: Good, Elite Four Birthplace: Born Viridian Forest, raised Blackthorn City Family: Parents - unnamed Siblings - unnamed Cousin - Claire Additional Notes: Having been born in Viridian Forest, Lance has peculiar abilities that are unique to those who, like him, were born in that particular forest. He is capable of making a sort of empathic and telepathic link with any Pokémon, psychic or non-psychic, and is also able to heal his Pokémon himself through a mystical power and without the aid of items or a Pokémon center. (based on Lance's abilities in the Pokémon Special Manga. Specific Chapters can be cited if necessary) Starter Pokémon: Dratini(now his highest lvl Dragonite) Pokémon On Hand: Gyarados - lvl 89 Dragonite - lvl 87 Dragonite - lvl 87 Charizard - lvl 83 Aerodactyl - lvl 91 Dragonite - lvl 100 ![]() Gyarados - lvl 89 Gyarados has been with Lance almost as long as his oldest partner, his elder Dragonite. During the time Lance has spent with Gyarados, the two have grown quite close. Gyarados is the most talkative Pokémon in Lance's line-up, often holding entire conversations with Lance through the telekinetic connection her Trainer can establish. She is also the most protective of Lance out of all his Pokémon, including his oldest Dragonite, and won't hesitate to use a full-force Hyper Beam or Giga Impact against someone who threatens her trainer. ![]() Dragonite - 87 This is one of a pair of twin Dragonites that Lance has. He found him and his twin sister as a eggs while in the Safari Zone hunting for Dragon Types, when he was still traveling Kanto for the first time. This particular Dragonite is somewhat mischievous still, although his more down-to-earth sister helps keep him in line. Whenever Lance participates in a double battle, he'll quite often send out this Dragonite and its twin. ![]() Dragonite - 87 This is one of a pair of twin Dragonites that Lance has. He found her and her twin brother as eggs while in the Safari Zone hunting for Dragon Types, when he was still travbeling Kanto for the first time. This particular Dragonite is quite reserved and serious, although this is offset by her brother's mischievousness and tendency to drag her into trouble with him. She's usually the one to get them out of it all, too. Whenever Lance participates in a double battle, he'll quite often send out this Dragonite and its twin. Charizard - 83 Although newer to his team than his other regular team members, Lance has had Charizard for a long time. This laid-back fire type is very well bonded with all the other Pokémon Lance has, both boxed and in his team. However, do not let Charizard's somewhat lasy nature fool you: he is more than a capable battler, and is ery good at getting quick wins, especially against the ice types that are brought in to counter his dragons. Aerodactyl - lvl 91 Aerodactyl was the third Pokémon Lance ever owned. He received it from a scientist while visiting Cinnabar so he could help him with an experiment. After the experiment was over, Lance was allowed to keep the Aerodactyl, which had grown attached to Lance. Now, the two are as inseparable as Gyarados and Dragonite are from Lance. Aerodactyle is quite frequently paired with Gyarados in double battles. ![]() Dragonite - lvl 100 Dragonite was Lance's first Pokémon, and continues to be his strongest. Dragonite is Lance's closest friend, the two having become very much alike in personality. Dragonite is absolutely relentless in battle, not stopping until either himself or his opponent has lost decisively. However, he does try not to overdo it, especially against opponents who have already been weakened. Boxed Pokémon: Salamence lvl 79 Garchomp lvl 79 ![]() Altaria lvl 80 Lapras lvl 74 Kangaskhan lvl 75 ![]() Arcanine lvl 76 ![]() Electivire lvl 72 ![]() Snorlax lvl 69 ![]() Steelix lvl 70 Tyranitar lvl 67 Feraligatr lvl 64 Flygon lvl 69 Appearance: Lance stands at about 5'11" tall, his spikey hair easily adding several more inches(if you were to include it). His spikey hair is swept back some, the spikes pointing behind him and looking like they could take out an eye of anyone who accidentally ran into him from behind. For clothing, he wears a blue-ish balck jumpsuit, with red running down the front of the torso and stopping halfway down his inner thighs. The Cuffs of the sleeves are red as well. He wears a pair of tall, leather, zip-up boots because he never learned to tie his shoes, and completes his looks with a fire-resistant cape that is brown on the outside and red on the inside. Picture: ![]() Artwork by Sugimori. Personality: Lance is a natural-born leader, since he takes charge of just about any situation he finds himself in and leads those with hiim out of them to success. This kind of attitude also carries over into his training and battling somewhat, as Lance always keeps his head in a situation, no matter how dire or serious. This allows him to think clearly no matter what is happening around him. However, all this seriousness about him does not mean he doesn't have a sense of humor. When the situation does not call for him to be deadly serious, he has a sense of humorr, and laughs and jokes like a normal person. He especially enjoys spending time with his Pokémon, just flying through the sky with them Personal History: Lance was born in Viridian Forest during a trip his parents were making to the area, which gave him the telekinetic and empathic powers he uses to help him train his Pokémon. Very soon after he was born, they returned to Blackthorn City, where Lance grew up a relatively normal boy. The only difference was his strong affinity for battling, which only grew stronger after he received his first Pokémon, Dratini, at age 10, from his grandfather. Almost immediately, Lance set out to journey around the regions, capturing and raising Pokémon. He did this for years and years, honing his skills, until finally he became the Gym Leader for Blackthorn City, his hometown. He held this position for several years before finally passing it on to Claire, his cousin, and setting off to travel again. He traveled for years before finally being approached by the Indigo League and being asked to become a member of the Elite Four. At first, he declined, but after being asked several more times, he accepted and was instaled in his new position as not only a member of the Elite Four, but also as their Leader. Once again, he held this post for quite a while, long enough to see Gary/Blue/Green and Ash/Red pass through, barreling right over him, and earning a place as a Pokémon Master and the title of Champion. After so long, though, he grew tired of the position, and resigned, returning to his travels through the Regions. However, he just couldn't stay away from the League, and once again he returned to Indigo Plateau, but this time as a challenger. He barreled through all the Elite Four members that had been installed in his absence, and became the new Pokémon League Champion, the current position he holds. RP Sample: Lance stood there, arms crossed as he waited to see if this new Challenger would make it through to battle him. He honeslty had to doubt it. Very few were able to make it past Will and Koga, and even those who did had to make it through both Bruno and Karen as well right afterward. Of course, this one might surprise me, and for that, he stood there, waiting, his eyes locked on the door as he waited. He was itching for a good battle. He hadn't had one in a long time. It was one of the hazards of becoming one of the most powerful trainers in the region: you hardly got a challenge anymore. He just shrugged it off, though. He'd been at this training thing for a long, long time. It had been....well, over 20 years now. That was a very long time to train Pokémon. There were a lot of people that gave it up long before that. But, Lance wasnt one of those people. Being a trainer had shaped his entire life since he'd first received that Dratini at 10 years old. They'd all been through a lot together since that day, and all their hard work and sweat paid off. Lance rolled his shoulders as he heard a sound on the other side of the door. Moments later, the large, metal doors creaked open to reveal a young boy, maybe no older than 14 or 15, stepping through. The boy straightened, a hard look of determination on his face as he looked at Lance. "Well, ready to finish your League challenge?" Lance asked the boy, unfolding his arms and pulling out a Poké Ball. The boy simply nodded and pulled out a Poké Ball of his own, and they both sent the red and white spheres flying throug the air to release their contents..... Lance paused for a moment as his Aerodactyl appeared on the floor of the arena, facing off against....a Metapod? What was this all about? He thought Bugsy was the only one who messed with the coccoon Pokémon in a real battle. Maybe not, though, and he should expect the same tactics from this boy as he could from Bugsy. "All right, Aerodactyl, start things off with Supersonic!" Lance commanded, and Aerodactyl obliged, sending a wave of soundwaves at the Metapod. "Metapod, get out of the way!" the boy commanded his Pokémon. Sure enough, just as Lance had thought. Just like what Bugsy did with his Metapod and Kakuna. "Aerodactyl, Wing Attack!" he said. Aerodactyl obeyed the command immediately, shooting forward as the Metapod launched itself upward and backward to dodge the supersonic attack. "String Shot!" the boy said, and metapod obeyed, shooting a single strand of silk from its shell, onto Aerodactyl's wing. As Aerodactyl's attack hit, the string held. The knockback momentum sent Metapod swinging around on the string, coming back around behind Aerodactyl. "Now, Tackle!" the boy said, and Metapod followed the command, slamming into Aerodactyl's back hard. The ancient Pokémon let out a small cry of pain and reached over, biting the string off of its wing. "All right, Aerodactyl, Hyper Beam!" Lance said. That would give distance, since getting in close would apparently be less productive against this Metapod. Following its trainer's command, Aerodactyl flapped backwards in the air, and send a beam of power at the Metapod. Even though the boy told it to dodge, it wasn't fast enough, and the beam hit it full on, kicking up a cloud of dust with it. When the dust cleared, Metapod was unconscious on the ground. "That was good," Lance said, grinning from ear to ear,"I can tell, you're going to be a good opponent." The boy grinned back as he returned his Metapod to its ball,"And I can tell this is going to be the best battle of my life. Now, let's keep things going, Typhlosion!" A Typhlosion? Well, this certainly was going to be interesting. Who knows? Maybe this could be the one that ends up defeating him. That would certainly be something. The boy that fought with a Metapod defeating him? He grinned at the prospect, and turned his attention back to the battle, rather than his thoughts, where the challenger was giving a fresh command to his Typhlosion. Lance's grin widened. This was definitely going to be interesting. |
