Saffron Christmas Festival

With the cobbled walkways, paths and streets decorated with lights, ribbons, tassels and other holiday related items, one could really feel the spirit of the season being brought out here in Saffron. It was to be like this for this day, too!

Sweet scents of candies being made and pastries being made seemed to fill the air in this city. No one seemed to care that there was no snow that was laden upon the buildings or streets. The temperature was cool enough for the locals to be dressed up in jackets, scarves and hats all the same.

Happy couples walked the streets, some sharing some of the candies that were made for the festivals. Boyfriends were winning their girlfriends small toys from the game booths that were up. Little kids ran around, some of them with small Pokémon running along with them and playing their own made up games.

From here on, the city of Saffron is lit up and festive for the event going on here.

Josh grinned as he walked into Saffron with Paige, Scep, and Gardy. He reached out and stretched his arms as his breath turned into small wisps of of white floating off into the air.

"Now this is fantastic," he said, his grin broadening as he saw the snow lining the sidewalks, and all of the booths and such stretching down as far as the eye could see on the sides of the streets and anywhere else they could be crammed.

He turned back to his friends, popping his fingers, and nodded over towards the booths.

"C'mon, let's check this stuff out," he said, grinning like a fool still. He loved festivals and carnivals and such. They were simply fun, no other way to put it. Christmas festivals doubly so, just because he loved the season. He couldn't get enough of it!

Paige shivered and wrapped the jacket she had bought in Celadon firmly around her frame. This was not... not fantastic. It was cold. Much, much too cold. For a girl who had grown up on Cinnabar Island and who had lived there all her life... it was freezing. And it hard hardly snowed! Just enough to make small little piles on the sidewalk, and some of that had been generated by Ice-type Pokémon!

She shook her head and gave Joshua a pained, wry grin and stepped after him towards the booth. She was a fighter. She could do this, Arceus dammit! But the booth itself was enough to draw her attention away from the temperature of the season.

Dots peeked out from under Paige's clothing to peer onward towards the delicacies, too, and even the Ditto's mouth began to water comically. Paige eyed them with utmost respect. All kinds of holiday foods were in warmers or hung on racks at this stall. But the next one over... looked to be some sort of carnival game.

"We never had a festival like this back on Cinnabar. Everything there is touristy. Little trinkets and such."

Josh pulled out his wallet and handed over a few bills to the man at the booth, and picked up one of the steaming pastries sitting on the small counter made by the booth and bit into it. A delicate harmony of chocolate and caramel flooded his mouth as he did. It was delicious.

"It's a shame," he said in response to Paige as he swallowed the small bite of pastry,"these festivals are wonderful. You can find so much new stuff and so much to do....I just freaking love christmas. It's so.....nice. Not like the rest of the year when everyone's always being an ass. I have yet to meet one person who is grumpy or rude during christmas without a very good reason."

He stopped talking and took another bite of the pastry. At this point, Scep came up and tapped him on the shoulder and pointed at the pastry. Josh just looked at him, and then realization dawned on him, and he fished out more money and bought a pastry for Sceptile and Gardy each to have their own.

"You want one? It'll be my treat," he asked Paige, turning to look at her,"If not for you, at least lemme get one for Dots. Little guy looks hungry."

Blaine had come to the festival as well. He wasn't disguised this time. There was no need he was walking behind Paige when he heard he complain about Cinnabar. He had to interject. "I agree. Its too touristy, there are never any good challengers.

"...If not for you, at least lemme get one for Dots. Little guy looks hungry."

Paige grinned and glanced at the Ditto on her shoulder. Droplets of drool, morphed from his body, watered out of his mouth much like a cartoon's might. The Ditto had even thought to change them blue-clear to add to the effect.

The girl shook her head and smiled wryly. "If you want to, then. Dots looks like he might keel over if he doesn't get one."

"I agree. It's too touristy, there are never any good challengers."

Paige blinked and then gasped, turning around abruptly. She knew that voice! She eyed the man before her and grinned. She didn't know Blaine on a personal level, but she very certainly remembered the Gym Leader from her home town as well as the Leader she'd won her very first badge from.

"Leader Blaine! You probably don't remember me. We fought once."

Josh grinned at Dots as he drooled on Paige's neck. He paid the patron of the booth for another treat and handed it over to the little pink blob, and he ate it up lightning quick.

Josh patted the little transforming Pokémon on the head and turned to start walking down the street again to look at more booths when a voice sounded behind him, and Paige turned around rather excitedly. Apparently, it was Blaine!

Josh spun around quick as a whip to see the old man with his labcoat and usual outfit standing there. It really was Blaine. Josh recognized him from the few matches he'd seen on TV.

However, he didn't rush up and challegen the Gym Leader like he wanted to. No, he let Paige have the first word. He was the Leader from her hometown, afterall, and the first to give her a badge.

"Leader Blaine! You probably don't remember me. We fought once." Blaine stared at Paige, trying to figure out who she was. She was familiar to him. He racked his brain for the few challengers that had actually beat him. He finally figured out who she was. "Ah Paige! How are you? He then noticed the person next to her spin around. "and you are?

It had been a while since Therese had been to Saffron, let alone for the Christmas festival. This was definitely a great time of year to be there. People as far as the eye could see—the best place to show off her fashion.

"This place is, like, awesome! It hasn't changed a bit!" She was excited as she walked the cobbled streets in her red high heels.

Her eyes fixed on Josh for a moment—young men were a weakness for her—and she gave a coy smile. She certainly hoped Paige wasn't his girlfriend.

Paige gave a grin and nodded her head over to Joshua. "This is Joshua. He and I have been traveling together."

The blunette girl glanced side long at the boy with a feral grin on her lips. She almost hoped Josh would challenge the Leader, though given the festivities, Blaine was likely here to enjoy the festival and not a battle. She shook her head and smiled slyly.

"But I almost ditched him when we first met. Something about a yoga session."

At that, Dots let out a cackle and transformed into a miniature overweight human on Paige's shoulder. And then promptly, he began to do stretches.

Josh have Blaine a cordial smile and reached out with his hand to shake the Leader's.

"It's a pleasure, sir," he said, giving a small nod. He looked over as Paige continued with her introduction, mentioning that incident in Viridian City when they stumbled onto a yoga class for heavy people on accident.

"Oh, yeah, go ahead and laugh it up Miss Blue-Hair and little blobber," he said, poking Dots in his overweight shoulder as he gave Paige back a look of mischief,"Just watch yourselves while you sleep. You may end up waking up with shaving cream on your faces. Or, maybe a little worse."

He grinned at his threat of pranking Paige. He had a relatively fresh can of shaving cream in his pack. He wouldn't mind sacrificing a little bit to get back at her.

That was when he noticed another girl, maybe a year or two older than him, put of the corner of his eye. He mentally raised an eyebrow at her, wondering what she wanted.

Ah, well, if she wants something, she'll come over here more than likely, he thought to himself sage turned his attention back to Blaine and Paige.

"So, Blaine, how's your Christmas going?" He asked.

"This is Joshua. He and I have been traveling together.""But I almost ditched him when we first met. Something about a yoga session." At this Blaine rose an eyebrow. Confused he then saw the ditto imitate what had happened. A bit of a grin appeared on his face. He then turned to Josh and shook his hand. "My christmas is going fine. I always leave my gym at this time to celebrate here in saffron. Speaking of which Josh, you look like you are wanting a good battle, so why havent you come and challenge my gym yet. That's a bit of a riddle to me." Blaine said grinning.

Therese slinked closer, a smirk on her face as she twirled a few strands of her hair. She dug in her pocket for a Poké Ball; she liked to challenge guys to battle to see if they were worth her time, after all. "Why, hello." Here she paused and winked.

"Just watch yourselves while you sleep. You may end up waking up with shaving cream on your faces. Or, maybe a little worse."

"Try it. I'll have Venu sit on you, Josh. He'd be happy to."

But then Paige grinned as Blaine riddled out a request to Joshua. Seeing the Leader of her hometown and who had more or less become her best friend fight would be a real treat.

"Why, hello."

At the sound of a flirty voice, however, Paige paused and glanced over to the source of the sound. It was quite obvious that the target of the greeting was Josh, and Paige let a little smile play over her lips as she glanced back at the boy. This... would be interesting.

"yeah, well, I'll still find a way to get you back," he said, grinning back at Paige. Then, he turned his attention back to Blaine as he questioned him,"I don't like to challenge people during the holidays. Gives everyone a chance to just sit back, relax, and not worry about a single thing. But, I suppose I could battle if you wanted to."

Josh finished with a grin on his face, Scep standing behind him looking like he was definitely itching for a battle. That was when Josh heard the girl he'd seen just a few moments ago speak. He turned to glance over at Paige. It was one of those "Oh, crap" looks.

"Hi," He said, turning to the girl and giving a pleasant smile. He quickly scanned her and took in what she looked like. What he saw definitely gave him shivers. She was dressed very.......flashy. She looked like a classic prima dona who got anything and everything she wanted, and pitched a fit if she didn't. He just have a mental sigh and continued,"Can I help you with something?"
