PokéFiends is an open and expansive multi-region Pokémon roleplay that welcomes both canon and original characters. From the regions in the main games, the anime and side games, and even a bit more, you can travel anywhere. Be wary, a darkness lurks in the night, a sinister creature haunts the edges of the moonlight. Turmoil brews, traveler, so take your first step with caution. |
Four months ago, terror held the world in stand still. The attacks on both Saffron and Castelia have concluded... and despite the growing darkness, the people of the world band together to throw an event in the spirit of world unity and the courage to stand against this new foe.

Ho ho ho! Who's excited for the holidays? I know I am! Well, to get you guys'n'gals all warmed up with that feeling of cheer, we're going to be holding five contests this time. Scroll down, to take a look at the prizes and the contests! If there are ANY questions, ask them here. If there's any confusing about rules or what you're supposed to do, ask them here.
[size0]Some descriptions copied shamelessly from past contests. CX Basic Rules: 1. Take these things seriously. If I find you're just fucking with them to screw up other people's fun, you'll be disqualified from every contest for the next three months. 2. You are allowed to enter all five contests. 3. Be polite and ask all questions here. Do not PM me with questions, because they may solve stuff for other members in this case. (I know I say to PM me in my signature, ignore it for this contest.) 4. Edited posts must have time stamps. ADVENTURE Yeap! Another one, like the one we held awhile back! Well. Not just like. This time, Shiay will be holding the Adventure, and it's much larger than the last one was. It has it's own temporary forum which can be found HERE. It's must like a Choose Your Own Adventure story, so check it out, and prepare to have some fun! All the rules are contained in the Opening Thread therein, and it should be easy enough to follow from there. The prizes for the Advent contest are vast. The Sneasels are the main prizes. They are Peppermint (Green), Spearmint (Blue) and Cinnamon (Red). First Place receives one of the Sneasel trio. Second Place receives one of the Sneasel trio. Third Place receives one of the Sneasel trio. Fourth Place receives two Hold Items of their choosing. Fifth Place receives 3,000.All entrants also receive 2,000, whether they win or not and Shiay has a surprise for all entrants as well. C: Entrants ought to be finished with their Advents by December 30th.HOLIDAY & WINTER HAIKUS The object of this contest is to write a haiku. Haiku are a type of poem, you may be familiar with them, which is simple and short. They're composed of, traditionally, three lines with alternating amounts of syllables. The first line is five syllables, the second line is seven, and the third and final line is again five syllables. There are variations of this, and Wikipedia notes them, but for this contest's sake, 5-7-5 is the best way to go. Now that we've got the introductory out of the way, onto the theme. Generally, haiku are nature or seasonal. This time around, the theme is winter, or you can do something holiday related. Entries are graded based on coherency to this theme. It does not have to involve Pokémon unless you want it to and lack there of Pokémon will not penalize you. And, seeing as this is the contest I expect to receive the most entries, there are three prizes to be won. Here are the rules: 1. You may enter up to three haiku, but only your best will win you a prize and you will only win one prize, not all three. 2. If you enter one haiku at first, then make another one, edit your first post. 3. If you want to edit your haiku, edit it in your post, do not re-post it. 4. Edited posts must have time stamps. 5. Post haiku in the same post as phrases. First Place receives Saint, the ice blue Delibird. Second Place receives one Hold Item of their choosing. Third Place receives 1,000.All entrants also receive 500, if they do not place. C: Entrants ought to be finished with their haiku by December 30th.HOLIDAY CARDS The object of this contest? Come up with something to go in a holiday card! The sayings/phrases you make up have to be Pokémon related, though, to avoid people going out and finding clever sayings in real cards. They do not have to be funny, I feel I should mention that, and they can be anything you want them to be theme wise, so long as it's Pokémon related. Entries will be graded based on effect. If it was supposed to be funny, was it? If it was supposed to make our heart warm up, did it? Here are the rules: 1. You may enter up to three card phrases, but only your best will win you a prize and you will only win one prize, not all three. 2. If you enter one card phrase at first, then make another one, edit your first post. 3. If you want to edit your card phrases, edit it in your post, do not re-post it. 4. Edited posts must have time stamps. 5. Post phrases in the same post as haiku. First Place receives Poinsetta, the white Cherubi which evolves into the appropriately named Cherrim. Second Place receives one Hold Item of their choosing. Third Place receives 1,000.All entrants also receive 500, if they do not place. C: Entrants ought to be finished with their phrases by December 30th.ONE SHOT A one shot is the typical name for a fan fiction that stands alone; basically, it starts, happens and finishes all in a single "chapter." Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write a one shot for this contest. The theme is "Winter Memories" and you are allowed to use any canon or original Pokémon character you want, it's completely up to you and you do not have to be their RPer. I really hate putting word limits on things, also, but to avoid having horribly short one-shots, I'm going to set the bar at 1,000 words minimum roughly. If you feel you can achieve a good story in less, you are welcome to try, but I would really prefer something more fleshed out plot wise than that, if it's going to be bare bones at less than 1,000. Here are the rules: 1. You may enter one one shot, but if you get another idea, you are welcome to change which one you want to be considered for the 2. If you enter a one shot and then want to put another up for consideration, make a new post 3. Do not post your one shots with your haiku or card sayings. Make a new post. 4. If you want to edit your one shot, edit it in your post, do not re-post it. 5. Edited posts must have time stamps. First Place receives Candycane, the candy cane-themed Chingling, which evolves into the even more candy cane-themed Chimecho. Second Place receives one Hold Items and one Apricorn/Berry of their choosing. Third Place receives 2,000.All entrants also receive 1,000, if they do not place. C: Entrants ought to be finished with their one shot by December 30th.RAFFLE Lastly is a raffle for Rudolph, our recolored Stantler! Anyone is welcome to enter the Raffle for him, just PM me saying you want to be in it. I'll draw the winner for him on December 30th! ----- |

(my first ever fanfic... please give it some constructive criticism XD) Coming off of a win in Olivine, Jason headed towards Mahogany. It was a chilly winter, not helped at all by the fact that he was headed to one of the northern most points of johto. Having no appropriate clothing for the occasion, he had to shop in Ecruteak. As he walked through the city, Gass floating by his side, he decided to pay respect for one of the mysterious dogs. True he had seen one of them, the one that was bringing all this cold wind. She was beautiful and this was the place where he had seen her. Quickly and solemnly, he walked to the Brass Tower. He moved into the basement of the tower, where the statues of the legendary beasts were. Walking towards the statues, he took out the photo he had of suicune. It was apparently the only documented evidence of suicune. Jason stood there for a moment, silently thanking them for watching over johto. His moment over; he left the tower. As he walked outside, snow began to fall. It was a light snow, but it was enough for Jason to have to take out his Arcanine for warmth. They walked to the pokemart. The pokemart was not that far away, its blue roof easily seen, but at the same time it was too far away for comfort. Quickly he hopped onto the arcanine and they dashed to the pokemart. Looking around, he found the article of clothing. Without a second thought he grabbed it and paid, dropping several bills onto the counter. He wanted to get to mahogany soon. The weather was getting worse and there were more rumors that a shiny gyarados was at the lake of rage. Jason wasn’t a fisherman, but he sure knew that just seeing a shiny gyarados was worth his time. He put the arcanine away and put on the black jacket. He closed it tight enough so that the only visible parts of his body were his olive green eyes. From the pokemart, he walked over to the route to mahogany. The snow started to fall a bit harder now, the wind too picked up. He reached the almost frozen water. Looking out, he saw that he had two options: either freeze his ass off in the water or waste time going through the caves. The time, he decided was the most important factor. Immediately after this decision, Feral was released. Seeing the water, Feral dove into the water from the land, splashing the already cold Jason. The feraligatr swam to Jason, letting him surf on his back. He flew through the water, spraying up water that turned to little pieces of ice as they descended back into the water. They tried going as fast as they could to get to Mahogany. Snow was coming down in droves; the air was white at this point. Right as they were at the city limits, cold as can be, they ran into a trainer. The trainer was tall. He too was wearing several layers of clothing, but he seemed to enjoy the cold. The trainer wore a white sweatshirt and light blue jeans. His eyes were hidden by ski goggles, effectively preventing anyone from reading his emotions. Quickly this trainer released his Pokémon, his way of challenging Jason. His Pokémon was a very unusual specimen. It was a tall pink sneasel that had yellow ‘feathers’ and ears. It tried to stand on the ground and look menacing. Unfortunately for it though, It only made Feral and Jason break out laughing at the creature. Frustrated, the sneasel made the first attack. Its hand shined in an icy glow. It charged at Feral, hitting the feraligatr in the chest. The water Pokémon roared at the sneasel in anger. He was not going to let a pink sneasel get the better of him. His fist grew white as he punched the pink sneasel. The brick break attack was enough to send the weasel backwards a good five feet. Trying to shake of the blow and the incoming snow, the sneasel used a quick attack. It charged at Feral extending its claws as it quickly scratched the Feraligatr. Feral took the opportunity to use metal claw on the sneasel. His claws turned to metal as they slashed across the sneasel’s face. The sneasel fell to the ground in pain. It was soon becoming buried under the falling snow. Jason returned Feral and walked into the town while the other trainer franticly dug for his Pokémon. By the time that they could now see the pokecenter, the snow was falling harder than Jason had ever seen before. He quickly opened his PokéGear and listened to the weather announcements. “According to our research team, there is a blizzard in Mahogany town. We advise that all citizens should be indoors at this time. Thank you very much and have a happy holiday.” The radio announced, causing Jason to dash to the Pokecenter. Out of breath, he opened the door of the Pokecenter and walked in. He looked around to find any open tables to sit at. While he was sitting at one, a nurse joy walked past him. “Hi there. You and your Pokémon must be tired and hungry. Do you need anything?” Jason looked to her and replied. “Yes. Can you please take my Pokémon to be rested and can I have a cup of hot chocolate?” The nurse nodded as Jason handed her the pokeballs. As he handed her the pokeballs, Feral’s ball fell and rolled under the table, out of sight. The nurse took the others and stored them, giving them a good night’s rest. As Jason looked outside the window watching the snow pile up., he was reminded of the week that he began his Pokémon journey. It was in December and there was some snow on the ground. He could remember his mom bundling him up in seven layers of clothing as he made the short journey to New Bark city. He could almost feel the snow crushing under the snow boots he had when he was younger. He could remember the excitement building as he got nearer and nearer to the laboratory. He remembered the enthusiasm of which he had when he received the little totodile that eventually became known as Feral. Almost as if on cue, Feral broke out of his ball. The huge Feraligatr flipped over the table, causing the others in the pokecenter to stare at the two. Jason’s thoughts were interrupted as he looked at the situation. As Feral took a seat next to Jason, Jason started laughing. He then quickly flipped the table back over as Nurse Joy came back with some hot chocolate. As soon as Nurse Joy turned her back on the two, Feral took the opportunity to blast the nurse with a water gun. This prompted a laugh from both Feral and Jason. It also brought back another memory. It was immediately after receiving Feral and getting his first pokeballs. They were playing with each other, already starting to prank each other. Laughter filled the air as they walked back to Cherrygrove to say goodbye to his parents. He remembered spotting a weird brown looking shape in the snow. Curious he and Feral took a closer look. It was an unconscious Hoothoot. It looked like it had been in a fight and badly hurt. Jason remembered the rush he had taking out a Poké Ball and actually catching it. At the same time, he remembered the feeling of concern over the Pokémon. As soon as it was caught, they had run to the Pokémon center to heal the hoothoot. Here, Jason learned of Feral’s affinity for using water guns on nurse joy. He had to explain to the nurse in between laughing bouts. The nurse was able to take Hoo and heal him to full health. Since then Hoo has been a good traveling partner. Sighing, Jason stared blankly outside. Tomorrow was the holidays and odds were that he would be stuck here in the Pokecenter. If anything, he would be bored out of his mind tomorrow. He started to think of the times where he celebrated with his family. He remembered receiving gifts around the tree, his parents his brother and him would sit by the warmth of the fire and watched tv specials. They would enjoy the day before returning to their frantic lives. Snapping back to reality, he just looked at feral with a bit of sadness and waited for the blizzard to be over. |

I think I've already decided on my hold item of choice, and it is going to be the Leftovers. And eeeeee, I think I know which of my trainers is most likely to end up with Poinsettia already. x3 (since it does fit her obsession) |

You're free to give the Cherubi/Cherrim to whomever. 83 XD Once we give them away who gets them, how they get them and if they're evolved or not is completely up to you. 8D; (I did laugh when you got it. I was like "I know Mitz has a grassy-fanatic, this is awesome.) Leftovers it is. *adds em to your PC* |
