- “I'm Misty! The world famous Water Pokémon trainer. Are you ready sweetie?”
-
Name: Misty Water Nickname: N/a Age: 18 Birthplace: Cerulean City Family:
- Daisy Water - Eldest Sister
- Violet Water - Second Eldest Sister
- Lily Water - Third Eldest Sister
Trainer Orientation: Good Trainer Title: Cerulean City Gym Leader Starter Pokémon: Staryu
Pokémon On Hand:
- “What is your approach when you catch and train Pokémon? My policy is an all out offensive with Water Pokémon!"
-
Appearance:
- “The Tomboyish Mermaid!”
-
Misty stands roughly four inches shy of six feet and adorns a slim and curvaceous frame. Though attractive, she's nothing particularly special, with pale skin that would no doubt burn under the slightest amount of sunlight and a blaze of red hair, which descends down to her shoulders in an angular and choppy style. In a complimentary contrast to her fiery locks, her eyes are a mottled shade of teal-blue. Misty is toned from her excessive swimming, but not overly muscular.
Her outfit changes often, ranging from a pale yellow bikini, to a blue, bubble print one-piece worn beneath a pale blue, translucent shirt. At the Gym she is usually seen wearing a blue jacket pulled over a yellow tank top, cut off just below her bust along with a pair of blue denim shorts and a pair of ankle-high red converse sneakers.
Personality:
- “Who're you calling ugly?!”
-
The majority of the time, Misty is a sweet and caring girl. Almost strangely optimistic, she usually tries to find the best in people and difficult situations. Despite this bubbly and friendly side of her personality, she is also known for being quick to anger. It doesn't take much to push her over the edge – especially when it comes to her skills, appearance, or Pokémon – and when she's over, she's seriously over. Frustration sets in and she can turn very loud and violent.
With two polar personalities, it is surprising at how quickly Misty is able to switch between the two. She cares a lot about her Pokémon, and her friends; even her sisters, (even though she doesn't like to admit it.) She can also come across as very confident, having total faith in her own abilities in all aspects of life. She sets out clear goals, and tends to not stop until she has reached them. Despite being a Gym Leader, her main goal is to become the best Water-type trainer in the world, her travels prior to returning to Cerulean has helped her get closer to this, and the Gym's challengers has helped her learn and grow.
She is also absolutely terrified of Bug-type Pokémon.
Personal History:
- “You really are good... I'll admit that you are skilled... Here you go. It's the Cascade Badge."
-
Misty grew up in Cerulean City, within the Gym with her family. Being the youngest of four sisters was always a challenge, as Violet, Lily and Daisy always seemed to have the upper hand in everything. Her childhood was rocky, no thanks to her awkward relationship with her older siblings. They were prettier, taller and more talented, succeeding in all of their attempts. Misty resented them for it, and spent her younger years striving to become better than them. Sick of receiving hand-me-downs and constantly getting picked on, Misty turned to what the Gym was known for. Pokémon.
At the age of ten, she officially received her trainers license and asked her parents, (the current Gym Leaders,) for a Pokémon, in order to train it and travel. They obliged by handing her a young Staryu they had just received at the aquarium. Ecstatic, Misty took this opportunity by the horns and constantly trained with the Pokémon homed at the gym. Her family took little notice, especially her sisters who were busy with beauty pageants and dancing.
A year later, a horrible event fell over the Water household, and the Cerulean Gym. The girl's parents were unfortunately killed during their vacation in the Orange Islands, where it was said their boat was caught by an unknown Pokémon, and dragged into the sea. It was at this point, Misty's older sisters were appointed as leaders of the Gym, much to their disappointment; they knew nothing about battling with Pokémon.
Devastated, Misty gained new found respect for the ocean, now fully aware of it's beauty and it's raw power. In an attempt to gather her bearings and gain some kind of comfort, she vowed to become the world's best Water-Pokémon trainer, to be the first to tame the sea.
With the loss of their parents, all of the Pokémon in the Gym were left in the girl's care, allowing Misty to gather the ones she knew the best, and set out on her journey. She packed a bag, gathered her Staryu, along with a Starmie and a Goldeen and set off for Viridian City.
She met many friends within her travels, along with a few enemies; which took her all over the world. Across Kanto, through the Orange Islands and even into Johto. Along the way, she had captured her fair share of Pokémon, befriending each of them and had learnt many wonderful things. Though she would have loved to travel further with her companions, and join them as they headed to Hoenn. Misty received a call from back home, where her sisters begged for her to return to the Gym; as it had all gone wrong.
Misty returned home as fast as she could to find the Gym in an utter state. No longer was it rich, vibrant and full of people. Before, people would come from all around to see the Cerulean Gym's aquarium, or to challenge the Gym Leaders. Now, the Gym had been stuck with the air headed “Water Flowers of Cerulean”, only concerned with their own things. Misty was infuriated, how could her sisters let the Gym – their parent's Gym – get in such a bad state?
This was when Misty made the decision to return home for good. Putting her aspirations on hold, she worked herself to the bone in order to restore the Gym to its former glory, and took on the mantle of Gym Leader. Since, people have started to return to the Water Gym, to view the gorgeous Pokémon, and to challenge Misty for a chance to obtain a Cascade Badge.

- “I was expecting you...you pest! You may have a lot of Johto Gym Badges but you'd better not take me too lightly. My Water-type Pokémon are tough!"
-
A loud crash erupted through the main arena within the Cerulean City Gym. A heated battle was unfolding, a trainer had arrived to test his metal against the Gym Leader. Stood at either end of an Olympic sized swimming pool were the combatants.
Misty was stood, feet shoulder width apart with her fists clenched and eyes wide as she witnessed her Bulbasaur being slammed into the adjacent wall by her opponent's Clefable; a powerful Body Slam attack had wiped Bulbasaur out of the match.
“No! Bulbasaur!” Misty cried out, tears forming in her eyes. Quickly blinking to dispel any sign of weakness, Misty thrust out her arm and returned the bulb Pokémon to it's Poké Ball. Placing the ball into her jacket Pokémon she turned her gaze upon the young boy across the pool from her, before yelling, “You were lucky that time, Branden! But you won't stand a chance against my next Pokémon!” every hint of concern had washed from her voice and it now resonated with a strong determination.
Pulling her hand from her pocket, she pulled out a Net Ball. Arching her back, she pulled back her arm before swinging it underhand to release the Net Ball into the air. The capsule spun rapidly before opening, unleashing a brilliant light. The light filled the stadium, but soon dissipated to reveal Misty's next battler.
Her Lapras floated calmly on the water and regarded Clefable and Branden uninterestingly. She released a low yawn of her name, before proceeded to swim around the pool playfully.
“Heh, wow, Misty...that Lapras doesn't even look trained!” Branden teased as he watch Lapras nip at the waves it had created. Better not underestimate her, that Bulbasaur had been a tough one. He thought about his chances, and looked to Clefable. She was looking pretty tired, and wouldn't last much longer. “I think I'm gonna give Clefable a rest for now...and go with,” he returned his Pokémon, and swiftly switched to another Poké Ball. “Wartortle!”
Light filled the room once again as a Wartortle dove into the pool. As it rose, Misty noticed it was covered in scars. What has he been doing with his Pokémon?!
“Okay, so it's two Water-type Pokémon. Lapras, Perish Song!” Misty commanded.
Lapras nodded and purred its name gently, before taking in a breath and reciting its deathly melody. The room filled with an eerie song that strived to reach the ears of anyone in the vicinity. Luckily, it didn't appear to affect humans.
“Wartortle, go under water! You won't be able to hear it there!” Branden called out, but it was too late. Wartortle's long ears, designed for heightened hearing had already perked up, catching the deadly song before it could react to it's trainers orders. If Wartortle wasn't switched out in time, it would inevitably faint.
“You won't even need to wait long enough for the song to work! Lapras, let's finish this...use Surf, and follow it up with Blizzard! Do it just like I taught you and you'll do great!” Misty called out, her lips curling into a confident smirk.
“Praaas!” Lapras cried as it shot through the water at an alarming speed, kicking up waves as it went. The pool was big enough for it to gather up enough momentum to bring forth a tidal wave. The wave towered over the arena, and began its descent towards its opponent. Just before it could come crashing down on Branden's Wartortle, Lapras leapt from the peak of the wave, and coiled her neck around.
Inhaling deeply, she unleashed a frosty breath. The temperature in the room dropped considerably, and everything took on an icy chill. The wall of water came tumbling down on the Wartortle with great force, pulling the turtle underwater and sucking it up into the undercurrent. It was thrashed about the pool and thrown against the sides, hard. Eventually, it was whipped up into a crest of water as Lapras' Blizzard attack hit, freezing the wave almost instantly and encasing the unlucky Wartortle in a pillar of ice.
Lapras landed elegantly on the curving arch of the frozen wave and slid happily down onto a flatter portion of ice.
“N-no...but...but, how?!” Branden blurted out in disbelief. “He was my secret weapon!”
Misty couldn't help but giggle. “Maybe you shouldn't have been so complacent.” she told him, offering a smile and a wink. “Lapras, why don't you give Wartortle a helping hand, by breaking it out of the ice?” she asked sweetly.
Lapras nodded and opened its maw wide, as a bead of water formed at the back of its throat. The water exploded out and fired at the ice trapping Wartortle. The Water Pulse cracked and chipped at the ice, before eventually destroying it completely. The pillar shattered and crumbled, allowing Wartortle to fall – luckily Branden was able to return it before it hit the ground.
“That...Wow, that was amazing, Misty. But, this battle isn't over.” he told her, looking up from Wartortle's Poké Ball to Misty.
Misty's smile turned into a wide grin, “You betcha it isn't over! Gimme your best shot!” she laughed, as she mimicked a gun firing with her fingers. I love my job.
