Aaah. Sorry, sorry. I made a lot of promises this weekend that I didn't fulfill! I'll get Orre and the guides up somehow. (Matches, you have been a tremendous help, and I love you,)

Anyways, onwards to the announcements!

Orre Gym Leaders
Are still in the green! Towns available are Gateon Port, Agate Village, Pyrite Town. (Phenac City is reserved for Justy, a canon.) You put your PREFERRED town in the profile. You are not guaranteed to get it. We will be accepting four profiles in total. If more than one person wants a certain town, the person who ranks highest out of the two in the battle they have will be the one that gets their preferred town.

Here's a custom code to go by for on their profiles.
Code:

[b]Name:[/b] Character's name
[b]Nickname:[/b] Character's nickname -- optional if character doesn't have one.
[b]Age:[/b] Character's age
[b]Trainer Orientation:[/b] Good, Neutral, Bad?
[b]Birthplace:[/b] Where your character was born/raised.
[b]Family:[/b] What are your character's family ties?

[b]Starter Pokémon:[/b] What Pokémon did your character start off with?

[b]Pokémon On Hand:[/b] Maximum of TEN. Mini-Pokémon profiles have to be included as well -- how does that Pokémon act? Is it loyal, is it naive, does it not like it's Trainer? Minimum of three sentences for each Pokémon mini-file. Please note, if they're not a puzzle-type Gym, they should have a Type that they specialize in. They should also have a variation of Pokémon. Weaker ones for weaker trainers, stronger ones for others.

[b]Gym Leadership At:[/b] Where is their Gym located? Duly note, this is your preferred location, and if two people pick the same town, the higher ranked one after the battle will pick their location first.

[b]Gym Layout:[b] What is their Gym like? Are there any puzzles involved in it? What kind of building is it? Is it dark, is it lighted? Etc.

[b]Gym Style:[b] If you have a puzzle-type Gym Leader, this is where you describe the puzzle(s) and how a Trainer would go about winning. If you have a battle-style Gym Leader, you can delete this section.

[b]Appearance:[/b] Your character's appearance. Please be detailed and provide at least two paragraphs.

[b]Picture (Optional):[/b] Have a picture of your Trainer? Post it!

[b]Personality:[/b] How does your character act and interact with other people? Minimum of two paragraphs.

[b]Personal History:[/b] I wanna know about your character! What was he/she like when they were growing up and before it was they became a Trainer? Minimum of four paragraphs.

[b]RP Sample:[/b] This time around, we're going to require that you do RP samples for the Leader in question.

Shadow Pokémon
Due to the increasing closeness of Orre opening (with much thanks to our very own Matches!) the question has come up concerning these bad boys. Yes, we're allowing them, but under restriction. It's a given, of course, that Shadow Pokémon are hard to control. Heck, look at the first Colosseum game. Those bad boys took forever to tame! So we've come up with the below.

The following was added to the Etiquette.

Quote:

Shadow Pokémon
Shadow Pokémon will be distributed by a Cipher member's ranking in Cipher. As people go up in rank, the more Shadow Pokémon they are capable of having.

Grunts: 1 Shadow Pokémon
Officers: 1 Shadow Pokémon
Lieutenants: 1 Shadow Pokémon
Commanders: 2 Shadow Pokémon
Executives: 2 Shadow Pokémon
Administrators: 3 Shadow Pokémon

The most a person can have is half a team of Shadow Pokémon.

Shadow Pokémon may be portrayed as being brutal in comparison to normal Pokémon, but they also are harder to control, and this needs to be portrayed fairly as well. Shadow Pokémon go into frenzy where they are uncontrollable, when their emotions reach a "fever pitch." This, which in the games is known as "Reverse Mode", is more common as a Shadow Pokémon is purified, and there for more common in the early stages of infection.

That would mean, as you go up in rank with your Shadow Pokémon, and as your Shadow Pokémon grows more infected, the less often these frenzies of uncontrollablity would happen. This is because the Grunts and Officers are given the newly infected Shadow Pokémon and higher level Cipher members have more infected/abused Pokémon. In short: the lower in rank your Trainer is, the harder your Pokémon is to control, therefore this is why you may have less of them.

Shadow Pokémon do not possess the finesse that normal Pokémon do, and typically do not act under a strategy code or in strategic ways. It's more so rush in to attack, regardless of the consequences or effectants. They lack emotion and lack heart, and therefor can not make the bonds with their Trainers to make strategic efforts.

Lastly is concerning their ability to score numerous critical hits. Shadow Pokémon often hit harder than normal Pokémon, but Shadow attacks are not as strong as a normal attack is. Therefor, while a Shadow Pokémon might be able to out critical hit it's normal Pokémon opponent, and while these attacks are double the normal (as per critical hit standards) the base attack itself was weaker, generally, than a normal attack.

The last and final thing of note is where they can be used. Shadow Pokémon can only be used when your Cipher character is on a mission. That means if the big bad boss didn't send you out to do something, you can not use your Shadow Pokémon to battle other Trainers. Sure you can be out and about Orre and it can be out of it's Ball (though in that kind of state, why would you be letting that monster out?!) but it can't battle. The Boss will be watching you...

This all boils down to one thing: please don't god mod with your Shadow Pokémon. I really don't want to see it. If you have any concerns at all, feel free to PM me about it and I'll help you sort it out. The bounds of them are hazy, and I understand it. So long as you use your best judgment and don't trash your opponents unfairly or abuse the fact that I've worked out Shadow Pokémon in the first place, everything will be a-ok.

Purification
Should you ever wish to leave Cipher, or should you Snag a Shadow Pokémon from a fellow Trainer, the purification process begins. You can not have a Shadow Pokémon if you are not in Cipher. If have one when you leave or some how obtain one, five threads after you leave Cipher/you Snag the Shadow Pokémon, it reverts to a normal Pokémon. All the while your Pokémon should slowly be going into frenzies more and more, as the door to it's heart opens, until in the fifth thread where it's fully purified.

Snagging
Snag Machines only work on Shadow Pokémon, end of story. They can only be received by going to the HQ Lab in Orre and obtaining one from the Professor there. And then, finally, Snagging, like theft, has to be worked out in OOC with the person you are Snagging the Shadow Pokémon from. If they do not want you to steal their Pokémon, you may not steal it.

okies! two things I'd like to say! lol.

First off, as the RPer of Ardos, I am setting down one organizational rule for shadow Pokémon inside Cipher: NEVER reveal your shadow Pokémon in public! This means that if you're on a mission and haven't been said "You can use your shadow Pokémon under these circumstances" etc, don't use them except in defense of our facilities. This is important. We don't have that many yet. We don't want them getting revealed yet. Cipher's very existence isn't known to the world yet. We lay low, and wait to strike. lol

secondly, I have a question for you, Mizu. Did you work out the specific places for the Orre gyms to be located yet? Or are you still working on that?

So, if I make a Team Cipher member (Rastogi Shaan) Do they have to be grunt rank or can they be higher.

Like Rockets, Aqua, Magma and Galactic members, your character is going to be starting off as a grunt, and as RPs continue and the more things you accomplish, your rank will increase with the respective RPer's direction.

For example, if I had Domino send someone out on a mission and they were a grunt, if they completed three missions, their rank would increase to a higher one and so on and so forth.

so, wait, the person RPing the head of that team has no say in how quickly a member advances? Its all based on just how many missions that character goes on?

I was just using that as an example. Domino is the character that I play and that's just how I have certain things set up. I mean, if the mission was really hard or advanced, then yes, raising ranks would be a little more pronounced then some of the minor ones that are handed out. I do not speak for all heads of organizations, though I do expect that the people that are taking on the other three heads would at least have common grounds to having some sort of way to raise ranks and stuff of the like.

I was planning on monitoring all their missions to see how well they do, and base it almost purely on merit, not how many missions they do. I mean, it makes more sense to me, and puts the best qualified people up at the top.

Of course, there will be promotion up to a certain point for all, but unless they do something really impressive, someone definitely won't be getting an Admin slot in Cipher unless its necessary.

@Sumy
Still working on which places, though Gateon Port and Phenac City are confirmed as cities to have Gyms. Pyrite is, but it's off limits to the four custom Leaders we're allowing, because Justy gets it be default.

The fourth Town is up for debate, though I want Agate Village. It's not like small towns (Look at PEWTER) have never had Gyms before.

@Brando
Yes, to promote fairness, everyone starts as a grunt and works their way up.

Update
Cipher Key Lair & Shadow Pokémon Laboratory: Shutdown, Cipher now operates from Citadark Isle
Snagem Hideout: Defunct, "Snagem" has disbanded and all members are either part of Cipher or have reformed.
The Under: No longer existent, as per canon events from Gale of Darkness.
S.S. Libra: Evacuated from the desert and returned to service.

List of areas that will not be appearing when we make Orre. If there's any objects, I will have them here (and perhaps on a later Announcement) with reasoning as to why these places should be kept. I feel these decisions are pretty sound, but this is only what I can collect based on reading on Bulbapedia.

I have an objection to Cipher operating from Citadark Isle. It's been compromised. They wouldn't stay there. Ardos fled at the end of XD. He wouldn't be goin gback. It'd be too predictable. Too easy to detect their presence.

Is there any other place for them to go to?

Haha, calm down, Sumy. We don't play THAT closely. We put Rocket, Magma, Aqua and Galactic in their original bases as well. For PF's purposes, none of them have been compromised on the level you speak of. Teams have been reinstated as a whole, kind of like a plot hole. After all, Maxie and Archie originally reformed/died, and Cyrus dies/gets trapped in another dimension.

For PF, they're not compromised or disbanded or defunct. It's hard to explain, but I'm working on a list of alterations as per PF, since questions that could be solved by a post like that are and have been numerous. It's like Viridian Forest being regrow and the Power Plant being defunct once more, and like Cinnabar being rebuilt and such.

With that, would it be okay for them to be at Citadark? If you'd like, you can have the base else where, but Citadark is a pretty bitching complex, so it's up to you. Let me know relatively where you would want it, so I can put it on the map I've got.

Yayness! Orre is here! Just wanting to let you guys know that I am making an Orre Gym Leader for Agate Village, who will be a pretty interesting character in my opinion.

In that case, given the interest in Agate, Agate village is in. Shun, if you want to, read here http://z3.invisionfree.com/PokeFiends/inde...p?showtopic=209 for more info on the Leaders.

*adds a list of the proposed Towns*

okay. Citadark will work for me. But, if you don't mind, I'd like another secondary base on the Orre mainland, that would be connected via underground tunnels, so as to have easy, undetected access to the Orre mainland from Citadark. Maybe the Under? XD I know its supposed to be closed, but there's always a way to open a place like that back up.
