RSNV Tuatha de Danaan
Seafoam Archipelago Interior Lagoon
One Day After the Battle of Indigo Plateau

No small amount of pomp and ceremony had been arranged for the return of the Danaan and the Hyperion battlegroup to their home ports at Seafoam. The Danaan herself was being hailed far and wide across the world as the heroes of the day at Indigo, their presence allowing a large number of civilians to escape what otherwise surely would have been certain death.

The turnout as the combined fleet sailed into the lagoon was pretty spectacular. Two broad lines of naval vessels marked a corridor for the fleet to travel through, all the way up to the repair and refit docks at Oceanus. Each vessel's crew was turned out in full dress uniforms to man the rails, showing their pride and solidarity with their brothers- and sisters-in-arms. Kept at a distance behind the naval vessels, civilian watercraft of every make and model filled the lagoon, crammed with citizens of both Seafoam and other countries cheering the returning heroes of the nation.

As was customary any time a ship was returning to port, the TDD's own crew was manning the rails as well. For his part, Garon stood out like a sore thumb amongst the sea of white, blue, or khaki uniforms in his full combat armor, but he wasn't willing to stand down from battle posture until he'd put boots on the solid soil of Seafoam once more. Further, being the captain's favorite--one of the nicer versions of the sentiment he'd overheard on the ship--meant he could get away with wearing battle gear. Standing in front of one of the L-WS laser emplacements on the starboard side of the ship, the Mandalorian observed the goings-on in silence, easing himself toward a peaceful footing as the crystal-clear waters of the lagoon passed by beneath his feet.

The good thing about Seafoam was, even in the middle of winter, it was still quite temperate. A trip to the beach might be what he needed to relax.

And a vacation. He was due for one pretty soon.

Tessa stood at the bridge as the TDD-1 docked, her hands tucked behind her back. The vessel was host to a fair number of people and civilians now, and all hands were literally on deck as the Tuatha slowly eased into the lagoon. Mars and marks dotted the hull of the ship, but it wasn't as worse for wear as it could have been. There was a groaning as the engines finally hummed down to an idle as the ship took port and Tessa's voice filled the bridge.

"Commander Mardukas, I think, given our circumstance, we can belay all but the standard docking procedure?"

The rather surly man at her right looked at her, his sharp eyes studying his captain. In any other situation, he might have protested or berated the suggestion... but he'd worked with Ms. Testarossa for a long while now, and the unspoken words were there, clear as day.

"...So that people may return to their families."

And he understood that, just as Tessa had hoped, and nodded. "I think so as well, ma'am."

As such, the minutes that passed giving commands were streamlined down to the necessities. Civilians were guided off vessel as soon as security had been posted to aide them in such. Stations were traded down to fresh hands from the main land, so that weary servicemen that had been at the Plateau could get some much needed rest. Fresh mechanics were brought on and given the most pertinent tasks, so that if another attack did come, the ship would be in working shape, but things not necessary were left to the wayside for now.

All in all, it would take Tessa herself some two hours in truth before all this procedure was seen through. She left the con to a not quite-skeleton crew, who was really there more for security and for the fact that every war-capable vessel was now left in a state that it could be ready in a moment's notice... thanks to the fact that Seafoam was in a ready-to-fight alert.

The silver haired woman walked away from the bridge, weary. Mardukus still stood at her side. She'd tried to order him away, but he'd leveled a gaze at her that shut her up and made her thankful that he was her second in command. Tuatha was at her ankle, the Vaporeon also looking worse for wear as they walked away from the command unit and towards the upper deck. Tessa's braid was tousled, stray hairs having long ago fallen out of it. Surely there would soon be a debrief on her part, but all she really wanted right now was to rest; she hadn't slept since before the fighting had started, and that had been well over a day ago.

So, when she stepped to the top deck, out of the belows hallway that lead to the bridge, and was greeted by a gaggle of people looking to get her attention, she only sighed gustily.

Urzu Team had done their own debriefing on the mission on the voyage home, but unfortunately, the fact that their mission had involved a Whispered meant that they had to suffer through another one chaired by the Spook Squad, and where the in-house debrief was as simple as a play-by-play of events and an analysis of what went down--taking maybe fifteen total minutes--any debriefing run by SIS was sure to be an arduous, drawn-out affair that dissected every step and twitch undertaken.

And true to form, the spooks had come aboard before the ship was even fully moored, locking the team in a briefing room for over two hours, cross-analyzing and questioning everything they'd done. It was awful easy for the spooks to come onto the ship in their nice, pressed suits and freshly-showered selves and tell the people who were down there risking their lives that this action had wasted precious seconds, or doing things that way had spent more munitions than strictly necessary to do their job.

Two hours of that had the team pretty thoroughly on-edge, and universally-agreeing that the next time the world exploded, they would probably be better off dying out there. Once the debrief was finally over, Garon had only taken the time to check his weapons--the ones that were not attached to his armor, at least--at the ship's armory before making a beeline for the nearest debarkation point, not even bothering to change out of his armor before doing so.

Two things happened at the gaggle of people vying for Testarossa's attention. One, Garon walked abovedecks at about the same moment. Two, Mardukus stepped ahead of Tessa, spotted Garon and jerked his head towards their captain meaningfully and then made a beeline for the gathered group of people. The man opened his mouth, inhaled deeply and, well, spoke would be putting it lightly.

"Get your CANDY ASSES away from the entryway and off my Arceus damned deck! If you weren't important enough to talk to her before now, you sure as hell aren't important enough to right this moment. It can bleeding wait. We're all running on empty here."

Tessa's eyes flew wide at the man's outburst. Not that she was surprised, Mardukus was just about at his wits end too, just like she was. At her side, Vaporeon pushed her forward, his head bumping her calf... and for once in the Water-types life, he directed her towards Garon. After all, it was unlikely that anyone would get in the armor'd lugs way. Tessa spotted Garon and stepped towards him, around the group of people Mardukus had thoroughly cowed and had under control now.

The captain strode right up to Garon and asked with weary eyes, "Let's go get some rest?"

If it wasn't for the pineal camera in his helmet, he probably never would have seen Commander Mardukas' signalling him, but when he did, he gave the older man his attention and nodded in recognition of the unspoken order. Afterwards, he turned fully toward Tessa to acknowledge her, but then looked back toward Mardukas again at his outburst.

Candy...asses...?

Well, Mardukas was just as strained, so it couldn't be helped. These press types were like sharks. At least he had the benefit of being too scary for them to want to approach. Pushing that thought aside, he looked at Tessa as she reached him and spoke, then leaned his head to one side, smiling even though she couldn't see his face. She could probably hear it in his voice, though.

"Rest is a good idea. I like rest."

The woman nodded, returned the smile, and made her way off the vessel. She walked in silence as they left the docking area. Tessa rubbed her eyes, heavy rings under them weighing them down and continued alongside the man in armor. There was something to be said about her silence, some deep thought spiraling in her mind. Her body was there, next to the Mandalorian, but her mind had long since vacated her physical form. In many, many ways, she was grateful for Garon's presence. If she'd been walking alone, she might have chosen the first bench to sit down on and fallen asleep.

Now there was a thought. Sleep.

She was so weary that even thinking the word made her knees weak at the delicious thought. And Tessa did not consider herself weak by any meaning of the word. Still, exhaustion will have its effects on the body, and Tessa was prone to her clumsiness.

So when she opened her mouth to cut into the silence, apologize perhaps, she turned to face Garon. In doing so, she took her eyes away from the ever important task of making sure her damn feet went one ahead of the other. And given the fact that Tessa'd chosen that moment to be stepping up a curb onto a sidewalk...

Her foot caught the concrete and she toppled.

As exhausted as he was from the fighting, it took him practically no time at all to snap to her aid. Gravity and her speed of fall made it impossible for him to catch her before she hit the ground, but he had no trouble clamping a hand around her wrist and hauling backwards, preventing her from hitting the ground altogether if giving her a bit of a tweaked shoulder.

Pulling her back against him for support, he slipped an arm around her to hold her upright and physically walked her onto the sidewalk. "Apologies, alor'ad."
