"Well, here we are. Cherrygrove City. Let's not stay long; this place is a dump. I'm guessing you'll want to head to the center to get your-- to get... Furra... patched up. I also want to show my sweet lady how a center like this works. I know exactly where it is, follow me." He led the way to the center and began to talk in hopes that his new travelling buddy wouldn't mind the conversation. It had been relatively silent up until the Furret debacle, and he was still feeling pretty awkward about the whole ordeal. The walk to the center wasn't particularly long - it was one of the first few buildings as you step within the actual city - but it was good to talk to someone. "I grew up in this city. There aren't many people here. I live in the suburbs, just on the, like, fringe of the city, if that's the right word. My area has lots of forests and green space, fields, and parks and hills and rivers and stuff. All the trees here are immense and... old looking. They're all protected, though - you aren't allowed to chop them down, you know?" His Chikorita let out a sweet cry with that knowledge in mind. She liked trees, understandably so. "Mhmm! I like the trees that are all old and gnarled and stand alone in the middle of nowhere, don't you? The kind that people etch their names into when they love someone. That's cute, I think. But sometimes the tree lives longer, and that's sad in some ways. Once, I saw a tree that had grown around a bicycle that had been left there. Ugh, trees are cool." He stopped his mumbling when he realised he had just waffled on about trees. His eyes slightly widened as he realised he was beginning to feel comfortable being weird, honest and himself around someone new. It was a strange feeling, but it was most certainly there. |

Jakk blinked a bit as Ellix showed discontent at being home. But he was polite enough to not dig into Ellix's personal business, so he just nodded and smiled as they made their way to the Center. "Yes. I do want to head over that way." Then Ellix went off onto a wonderful tangent about trees, the good kind of tangent, an in depth analysis of nature and Ellix's own thoughts. When Ellix's speech pettered off, Jakk pipped up, his voice cracking a bit from either disuse or need to continue the conversation so that Ellix wouldn't think he was thinking the other boy was odd... when he truly did enjoy the topic. "No, I know what you mean. They are cool. Like the best kinds, I think, are the kind that grow into each other, y'know? Like when two seedlings grow next to each other and they merge or something? It's cool. I once saw a birch tree and a cedar that did that. It was really neat." ---- Furra reached Level 6! ---- |

Ellix continued to lead the way through the automatic sliding doors. Inside of the Pokémon Center was empty. There didn't seem to be even a single patient or customer waiting. It was hard to tell if that was a good thing for the healthcare side of it, or wrong in that their taxes were going to waste on funding treatment and buildings that weren't needed. At any rate, Ellix tried his best to continue the random discussion. "Yea, that is cool. I think the reason I like them so much is because they are so unpredictable. Anyway, listen, if we're going to be journeying with each other for now, I'm going to keep up these random discussion topics so that we have something to do. I never usually run out of things to say, so long as somebody doesn't mind helping me carry the conversation, I hope you don't mind?" He bent down and scooped up Lady Passionfruit who didn't seem to mind being lifted up into the air and plopped down on the Pokémon Centre counter. He was going to show her the ins and outs of being in a Pokémon Center for the first time, and she looked rather content and calm with her surroundings. He thought it would give him something to do while Jakk's Furra got patched up. ---- Lady Passionfruit reached Level 11! ---- |

"I don't mind. I like the conversastion. I didn't have many people to talk to back home, so it's a good change." Jakk bent and also picked up his starter, gently placing Cynda on the counter on a tray like object next to Lady Passionfruit, though then he turned to Nurse Joy and placed the newly filled capsule with Furra in one of the six indentations on the same tray. "Ms. Joy? Can I get these two patched up?" The pink haired woman smiled at him and gave a familiar, friendly wink to Ellix before turning back to Jakk and nodding. "Of course, m'dear. Give me just a 'mo." With that, Nurse Joy lifted the tray and began to carry Cynda away with the capsule as well. Jakk gave a reassuring smile to Cynda, but she didn't look frightened about being taking away from Jakk. After all, at the laboratory at home there was a similar machine to the one Nurse Joy was headed for with her, so she seemed absolutely calm, if just a bit silent and more reserved at the moment. |

Lady Passionfruit watched as Cynda and the Poké Ball were whisked off to get patched up and recovered. The Chikorita herself was completely unharmed and simply had dirty paws from walking on Route 29, but this was a hospital, not a salon. This visit was her first time at an actual Pokémon Center, so it was all relatively new to her - she didn't seem afraid or worried in the slightest, though, which pleased Ellix to no end. "Well, if that's the case, I shall carry on with the conversations until we finish our adventure, I guess. Let's start with.... hmmm.... how about.... ah! If you could take one thing to a deserted island, what would you take with you?" Smug with the question he had thought of, he gave a big grin and patted his Chikorita on her leaf, causing her to give out a content cry. |

Jakk smiled back slyly. "A fully gassed yacht." But then he looked thoughtful for a moment and nodded, more to himself and Ellix. "If I really had to say, though? Cynda. She's the Leppa of my eye." Meanwhile, behind a glass panel, Nurse Joy was gently fitting the tray Cynda was on onto a table-like device with a dome-shaped overhead. The tray fit snugly into the machine and then Nurse Joy pressed a series of buttons, which caused the machine to glow with a faint blue light. Cynda and Furra's capsule were engulfed in this light for awhile, which pulsed a handful of times. When the light show finished, Nurse Joy lifted them both out of the machine on the tray and carried them back out to Jakk, setting the tray back on the counter in front of them. "All healed up. See you next time, m'dear." |

"Hmmm, good answer." He gestured towards the entrance to the Pokémon Centre and then lead the way. A small cluster of young boys and girls walked in just as they were leaving, one of them holding a cheerful looking Oddish in his hands. As they stepped outside, the sun was beginning to set, and it was certainly getting darker. With that in mind, the temperature was starting to drop too. It wasn't cold exactly, but the heat was indeed disappearing. "I'm assuming you don't need to go anywhere else here?" Ellix zipped up his jacket and lead the way to Route 30. He truthfully had wanted to leave Cherrygrove since they entered it. There was something about it that repelled him - probably the fact that it held bad connotations and dark memories. Yeah, that was probably it. "Okay, next question. What is your biggest pet peeve?" |

Scooping up Cynda and Furra's capsule, Jakk settled the echidna onto his shoulder and the capsule into his pocket before following after Ellix. He passed a glance to the youngsters walking inside and smiled at the Oddish before the chilliness of the outdoors registered on him. Imitating Ellix, he zipped up his own jacket and shook his head. "No. I'm pretty well off." The boy looked thoughtful at Ellix's next question and tilted his head back and forth as he considered it. His bangs swished this way and that way, as if they were dusting his eyes. Then finally, he pipped up. "Hypocrites, especially the ones that put on appearances of being one way and then act completely different behind closed doors." Then it hit him. "Oh. Before I forget..." The boy fished aroudn in his pocket and withdrew a cellphone. He went to texting really fast and sent a message. "We left so fast, I didn't even tell my parents I was going." ---- Cynda reached Level 12! Furra reached Level 7! ---- |

"Hmmm. Yeah, good shout. Mine is probably rude people. I can't stand it. There's no need for it at all. Why can't people just be nice to each other? Another one of my pet peeves would probably be, erm, judgment. I can't stand it when people judge others when they know nothing or little about them. That's the worst thing ever." Ellix stopped at his companion's fidgeting around and watched as he whipped out his mobile phone. "Oh. Before I forget... we left so fast, I didn't even tell my parents I was going." "Ah! Do y-- do you need to go back? We can go back if you need to say goodbye. We might be gone a long time, you know?" |

Jakk shook his head and smiled contently at Ellix. Cynda snuggled into the crook of his neck, putting her nose right under the bridge of his ear. The boy certainly didn't look bothered in the least, and he tucked his cell phone snuggle back into his pocket. "No, they know I've been trying to leave for awhile, so they'll understand." |
