The so called saviour of the wizarding world, and he was acting like a child. Not only that, but he used his influence on other people to get them to act just like him, and he found it entertaining. Gareth had to check himself, because he knew that Harry Potter, no matter what he thought about himself, was just a kid who had been led along by the people in his life since he was at least eleven. With the death of Dumbledore, the wizard that was almost most involved with manipulating Harry's life was gone. Gareth didn't know how that would feel, he'd never had a mentor die on him. However, Harry Potter's behaviour had to be checked, or he was going to jepoardize the entire light side of the war, whose hopes and dreams were pinned on him. Was it Gareth's job to check the pride of Harry Potter? Not particularly, but Gareth was firmly on the light side, and he knew that they would follow Potter, no matter what he did. And that could be devestating.
