It only took Xanthe a minutes to apparate down to the beach. Sure it was a little windy and cold but that never stopped Xanthe from going down to the beach. She looked around a noticed that the beach was far from deserted but not overcrowded. After scanning the crowd once Xanthe saw a sunny spot close to the water. Almost as if she had conjured the spot up with her thoughts Xanthe began walking toward it. The walk was short and she reached the spot fairly quickly. Xanthe carelessly dropped her bag on the ground and unrolled her towel. "It's such a lovely day I love it out here," she said smiled as she lay down on her towel.

James walked along the edge of the beach as the water hit his feet every few moments. He looked around at all of the people and he went further down the beach until he saw a sunny spot with a girl lying down and he neared her until he stopped and began skipping rocks on the water's surface.

Xanthe had been sort of lost in her own world as a boy who looked vaugely familar neared her blanket. She turned and frowned a little trying to place him but had no luck. "Hey... I'm Xanthe. Have we met?" She asked. It was hard to tell if he was her age or lived in the wizarding world for that matter since she was at a Muggle Beach. After a few more moments of confusion she sat up on her blanket and smiled.

James eyed the girl trying to remember if they had met before or not, but he couldn't remember. "I'm James i do not know if we have met before because you seem vaguely familiar, but regardless glad to make your aquaintance." James walked over to her and kneeled as nodded his head.

Xanthe giggled a little at his formal introduction and smiled warmly. "No need to be so... curtious I'm a laid back girl you can just sit." She said and motioned to the empty space on the blanked. She slipped her shorts back over her bikini bottoms and looked back up at James. "Hmm well let's see I'm 17, a 7th year student at a local school acutally and I'm here to take lots of amazing photos." Xanthe said. She wasn't sure if James was a fellow classmate at Hogwarts and didn't want to let anything slip about the wizarding world.

James snickered, "You can never be too formal sometimes." He sat down beside her and he now he remembered that he had seen her somewhere at hogwarts and he laughed at her emphasis on a school nearby. He took out his wand and tossed it into the air as he laughed. "So you like photography than?"

"You have a point, and it's nice to meet a guy who isn't completely rude or full of himself." Xanthe said with a smile as he sat down. As she pulled out his wand and tossed into the air she was relieved and finally assured he was at least associated with the wizarding world in someway. It didn't tell her much about his blood status but that was far from Xanthe's mind since she didn't focus on stupid stuff like that. "Yah I do most people aren't really interested in it though... since it's one of those muggle things. I actually find it amazingly creative and fun." Xanthe said and paused to look up at the sky. The weather wasn't changing much but she hadn't really come out here for the tan anyway so as long as it wasn't snowing she was fine. "So what do you like to do for fun?" Xanthe asked as she turned back to James and titled her head to the side.

James glanced at her for a second, "well i like magic and flying most of all! There aren't too many regular things i like to do." He stopped, "or muggle things i like to do, well maybe gambling, but thats not the best habit." He stopped tossing his wand into the air and he looked at her, "but most of all i enjoy talking to pretty girls like you!" he winked and laughed.

"Really... I've always been afraid of heights so I haven't gotten around to much flying. I mean of course I know how but I'm far from what you'd call good at it." Xanthe said followed by a sheepish smile. She laughed a little as he started to talk about gambling and nodded her head as if physically to say still she was listening. "Well I have plenty of bad habits so don't feel bad." She replied and began to rake her fingers through the sand. Surprisingly it was warm and Xanthe loved the way it fell so effortlessly through her hands. "I'm not sure what to say... thank you?" She said and bit her lip, before blushing a little. "I was sure that you had a girlfriend... I mean you just seem like you would I guess." Xanthe said and trailed off not quite sure how to say what she was thinking.

James laughed. "ah alot of things are going on with my life and i am still unable to understand it sometimes." James stood up as he looked out towards the water and the water was slightly hitting his feet. "Why you wondering if i have a girlfriend anyways?" James asked over his shoulder.

She nodded a little, watching as James stood and then began walking toward the water. First she thought about following him out there but then decided it was probaly freezing. "I know what you mean... or at least I think I do. So what is so confusing? If you don't mind me asking." She said. Xanthe pulled her knees up to her chin and hugged them. "I don't know... I think about a lot of things. And most of the time over think everything but you didn't answer the question so maybe I was right with my first assumption." Xanthe said and looked up at him.

James turned completely around as he replied, "I might." he grinned as he continued and laughed as he walked back over to her and went on a knee as he looked into her eyes and asked, "why you interested?"

"Okay that's fine... but if you feel like telling me I'd love to hear about whatever it is that is so complicated." She said with a shrug. Xanthe hadn't noticed that James had turned around and was bent down on a knee infront of her. She smiled and held his gaze unsure what to say back after his question. "I don't know I'm trying to take a break from drama... I guess mostly boys," She said with a sigh. After the conversation with Brooke she was feeling really great about everything and life was finally starting to run smoothly. There was no drama with friends or with boys, no fights, everything seemed to fit really well. James was a nice guy and she did like spending time with him but at this point it seemed like he'd be a really great friend.

James grinned, "i quite understand sometimes theres too much drama in school and it is nice to take a break. I like popping that question it tends to recieve the most interesting answers, but you seem pretty laid back." he laughed again as he stood up and held his hand out to her. "lets walk."

"Sometimes there is just too much drama in life. I guess my answer was interesting... alright." Xanthe sighed and took his hand as she stood up. "Sure so other than flying what do you like to do... you've told me about talking to girls but I still feel like I don't know you." Xanthe said sincerely interested in getting to know James better.
