"Yeah." He said and kept walking in silence. He couldn't understand why this girl said so many people thought she was weird or a freak. It not like she was crazy or anythign she seemed perfectly normal to him. He met weirded people in and outside of this castle.

"Yeah." Sean said simply, continuing their walk in silence. Veronique wondered if something was bothering him. He seemed a bit confused, or something. Veronique couldn't quite understand his expression. "Umm... something bothring you?" She asked him after a few minutes of walking in silence.

"No not really, I'm just kinda confused about, well you. Not in a bad way but I think the reason you feel like everyone is weirded out by you is because you don't believe in yourself which I don't understand why." He said.

"Ah, well, I dunno," Veronique said, wondering how far she was willing to go with this. He really seemed curious... and not in a mean way. Veronique heaved a deep sigh and prepared to explain.

"You're right, I guess. I don't "believe in myself". I don't trust myself. I don't trust others. It's all... well, it's all kind of wound around me." Veronique knew she was selfish and that if she had wanted to, she could have adjusted her outlook on humanity a bit, but she was beyond the point of caring now.

"Maybe it would make more sense if I explained." Veronique decided. "OK. When I was seven, my twin sister and I heard a noise in the forest behind our house. We went to figure out what it was, and came across a group of vampires in a clearing pretty far in. It was feeding time. Well, needless to say, two little girls were a wonderful addition to their meal. My sister and I were blooded, new vampires, and then abandonded there. When we regained consciousness, we managed to find our way back to our house, but everything had changed."

Veronique looked up at the sky for a change, thinking back. The scene was as clear as ever. Veronique unconsciously put her hand over the fang scars on her neck. "Our parents saw the marks we got, and they panicked." She told Sean. "They started treating us differently. Like we were some kind of animals, rather than their children. Word got around the neighborhood, too, and soon every child in the neighborhood knew not to go near the Largsum girls. And life just sort of continued on like that..." Veronique concluded, as though she had just told him a rather boring summary of that day's Charms lesson. "My sister and I only had each other, and everyone else stayed away. Being a vampire causes so many problems... I just try and avoid those problems the best way I know how." She said. She could have explained more about why she was the way she was, and how she hated being a vampire, etc, etc. But she would only be boring him with stupid things that no one really cared about.

He shook his head in disbelief, but he didn't care that she was a vampire at all. "I don't care that your a vampire, it doesn't change what kind of person you are at all." He said. "Don't let your uniqueniss (spelling? lol) make you uncomfortable in front of other people. A lot of kids in this school don't care about things like that and if they do then they are stupid." He said seriously.

"I know you don't care," she said, not the least bit surprised by his indifference. "And now that's we're all in this school for witches and wizards, it's not so bad, I suppose. But it wasn't always this easy. Most people had friends growing up - people they could talk to, people they could trust. Hell, most people had parents that at least pretended to like their kids. It was just different for me. The only person that understood or cared was my sister. My parents never treated us the same." She explained.

"And it's just frustrating, because along with emotional limitations, there are the obvious physical ones. I have to make sure I have things well under control. I can't actually get close to someone until I'm sure nothing will happen. I made that mistake several times when being a vampire was still new to me - that's how people found out what had happened. I tried attacking some of my friends." She said. She finished in a voice hardly over a whisper. She couldn't think of a time when she had actually shared all that with someone. Salacia always knew, but they rarely talked about it. Veronique hadn't told anyone that story in a long time.

Sean looked at her sadly. He' never saw a girl so torn up, she wasn't like other girls he talked with and took walks with. Usually him and girls just flirted and every so often he would make out with them or something but she was totally different. It was nive to have a good conversation with a decent girl. "If you don't want to tell me this you don't have to. I can tell your getting all shook up." He said.

"If you don't want to tell me this you don't have to. I can tell your getting all shook up." Sean told Veronique. She turned her head to look at him, and shook it.

"No, it's - it's fine," she said. "It's just weird, I guess," she continued, for lack of a better word. "I don't think I've ever told anyone all that before. I mean, I told mum and da because I had to, and Salacia was there with me, so she knew..." Veronique explained. To tell the truth, she had been avoiding that coversation all her life, and now that she had had it, it really hadn't been as bad as she expected. Maybe there was hope for people yet.

Veronique took a deep breath and held her head up, just trying to clear it. She thought she might be going soft, and she was just not the emotional type. She wasn't even looking for sympathy. She hated when people wallowed in their misery, it was so irritating. She had tried to detach herself from the experience as much as possible, and in doing so, had managed to detach herself from almost everything in life. But what was supposed to happen? Growing up, most kids have friends to play with, parents that love them. Veronique's former friends ran from her like the bloody ghost of Christmas past, and her parents treated her like some sort of wild animal that had - most unfortunately - wandered into their house. It wasn't people she feared, it was their reaction to her. All her life people had stayed away from her, and eventually, instead of trying to make things better, she just gave up. She found she was only ever going to get hurt, so why bother?

"Well Im happy that you trusted me to tell that to. I'm sure if you just become friends with some people and tell them later on in the friendship they would understand." He said.

"Eh, I think I've ruined my chances," Veronique said with a bitter laugh. "Oh well," she continued, sighing and losing some of her cynical tone. "It doesn't matter so much anymore. I've just got one more year here, and then I'm out." She said, thinking about how close the end of her time at Hogwarts was - and yet, how far away it seemed. She lifted her head now, looking at the things around her instead of the dark ground below her. After walking in a few moments of silence, she turned to look at Sean again.

"Thanks for not... well, I guess for not doing what people always seem to do," Veronique said. She realized that didn't actually make much sense, but she was never good with apologies. Or emotions in general. "I guess I want to say thanks for letting me explain all that. It wasn't so bad as I'd always pictured it would be." She was going to add that if he repeated anything she had said to another person, she would be sure he did not wake up the next morning. But she just decided to stop at what she had said before.

"Well I'm a good listener and you letting me in will help me to let you in if I'm ever in trouble. I just am always here for you to talk to if you want." He said.

"Thanks," Veronique said, a tiny smile escaping her. "Though, I'm not usually much of a talker," she said with a little laugh. She looked around her once more, then asked Sean, "So now I've told you... entirely too much about myself. What about you? You must have a life outside of this school... and something interesting, if you're planning on becoming a Death Eater." She commented.

"Um well my dads dead so now I'm free and love it. He can't control my life and even when he was alive he couldn't control me I always disobeyd him. However it was his wish that I become a Death Eater and even though I hate doing anything he wants me to do I believe its the only thing I'm interested in right now." He said.

"Oh," Veronique said quietly. "I'm sorry about your dad... but then, you don't sound so sorry." She commented. She thought his situation was strange, but she just didn't know the background there. She of all people knew there was probably more to the story than someone was willing to share. "What makes you so interested in being a Death Eater?" She asked. She was actually quite interested in the answer... it's a question she'd always wanted answered. Why would you want to do that?
