As Marmaron, Flash, Popo and Nana left behind the flower-infested hill of the last route and entered the darker, more shadowy realm of this barren-seeming valley, the red-capped trainer couldn't help raising an eyebrow at how different this route was from the one that was literatly right next to it. Wheras the last area had been overly bright on the eyes and filled with sunshine, this place seemed as if it was draining all the colour away from what few plants seemed to grow, the only specks of light being that of fireflies that ocassionly wandered like lost spirits in and out in the foggy air above. It was like all the energy had been drained away. But there was one person here whom this back-ground had little to no affect on. Marmaron not only looked quite out-of-place here, with his vivdly bright clothing and all, but since he used to explore haunted houses when he was a kid, he was pretty used to dark and mysterious areas like these. You might even say they brought back memories of better times- since when Marmaron travelled through these haunted houses, Ruiji was still around at that time too. Sure, the green-capped younger sibling of his had never followed him in- not after that day where a couple of ghost-types had found him in a particularly dark area of the house, and thus given him a phobia of those types for life, even though Marmaron had done his best to defend his brother...

And Ruiji often told their mother when Marmaron did this after that incedent, landing Marmaron in SEVERAL grounding sessions. Marmaron knew Ruiji was just worried about him- but not being able to explore places that were just BEGGING to be explored and have their past discovered really had fustrated him back then. Because Ruiji had a phobia of ghost-type pok'emon, Marmaron doubted that they'd find the green-capped one HERE, of all places...this place just SHOUTED 'Spooky pok'emon live here' in his eyes, after all the haunted houses he'd explored way back when. But even if he didn't find the sibling he'd set out on this journey tofind and team up with, Marmaron was still happy. This place was a gold-mine of mystery just waiting to be explored. But he'd have to be careful- it looked like pok'emon could easily get lost here. Not wanting to recall his poke'mon unless THEY wanted to be recalled, since he respected his team-mates too much to do this, he turned to them and said, "If any o' ya want to be recalled before we go, on, say so now."

Whizz's Two Cents: Whether it is intentional or not, I love the whole allusion your characters have between Mario and Luigi, especially this part which, intentionally or not, is very reminiscent of Luigi's Mansion. Knowing how much you love the Mario Bros. though, I'm sure that this was all planned. ;)

So sorry about the late thing. I've been up until 9:00 every night doing four hours worth of homework. I hate my math teacher so much...and I only got through the Cleanslate part of your journey so I haven't read Flowery Slopes yet. >.<
The Pokémon all shook their heads no. Flash started jumping up and down, wanting to get out of this place as soon as possible, while Nana didn't even notice it had gotton darker, and was now busy spraying water everywhere to amuse herself, not seeing that you and the other two Pokémon had started moving on. Popo shouted to alert her, and Nana hopped over as fast as she could until she caught up in a matter of seconds.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, there were several Stanler running perpendicular to the way you were walking, and Flash stopped dead in his tracks in order to prevent being flattened, and took a couple of steps back for good measure, eyes wide with anticipation and anixety.

Whizz's Two Cents: Stantler run in the dark? lol j/k... although I always thought of them as more foresty Pokémon, but that's fine. Sucks about the homework. You should try AP Euro. ;)

(( To Whizz: No, I just decided randomly to go this way..even though it is quite reminsent of one of my fave gamecube games of all time. XD
To Acredula: That's alright! I understand that people are busy. ^^))

As Marmaron asked his compainons wether they wished to be recalled or not- for even if he wasn't scared of this place, his pok'emon might be, for this was a big place and one could quite easily get lost in the shadows of this pitch-black area. But he wasn't worried about that himself- he had faith in his friends, you see. Faith that they'd stick together so that they could get through this place together- a testimony to the power of teamwork. And it seemed that his pok'emon friends weren't worried in the slightest, all shaking their heads no to Marmaron's question. Flash seemed to want to get moving on through the forest, looking rather impaitent as he jumped up and down repeadtedly. Marmaron grinned, saying, "Al'ight pals, let's get movin, then!" As Marmaron began to move on again, a sudden shout by Popo halted Marmaron's movements, the red-cappped one looking bewildered as he glanced towards Popo. What was the matter?

It soon became clear that Marmaron had almost gotten into bad trouble AGAIN due to not looking before leaping, for a few seconds after Popo had called out, Nana hopped into sight again. Marmaron noted the Budew had dewdrops on it's green skin- so the ovbilious grass-type must have thought that she would 'play' while he and the others were conversing. The trainer turned to Popo, saying, "Thanks for that, pal. Man- if we'd left Nana behind accidently, I'd want to kick myself for letting that happen.." The red-capped one rubbed his forehead, before grinning, the problem gone now- so too, was his worry in the matter. He said, "Let's continue our exploration, already!" But the so-called 'exploration' was cut unexpectedly short when a herd of Stantler ran out from nowwhere, seeming almost possesed as they dashed perpendicular to the way the group was headed, Flash backing up slightly. Marmaron stared. He'd NEVER seen wild pok'emon act like this before- was this some kind of warning or sign? He had no idea- but these deer could just be territorial. Speaking to the deer, he said, "Hey, we're just passin' through! We don't mean you guys any harm-really." He was being honest- although he thought this area was cool, he knew Ruiji wouldn't be here, so he wanted to hurry up to somewhere where he WOULD find his brohter.

As for wild pok'emon, he doubted he'd find an Rock-type or a Water-type to blance his team out here..

The Stanler paid you no heed--they just kept stampeding directly in front of you. After a hundred or so were past, you heard a noise.

Hisssssss!!

Behind the Stanler, and apperantly frightnening all of them, was a huge Ekans. We're talking colossus here--much larger than what most Ekans are. It didn't even give you a second glance, but instead struck one of the lagging Stanler's with it's fangs and injected the venon. It than coiled up around the Pokémon around its neck, completely cutting off its air supply. Stanler would be dead in a couple of minutes.

Flash looked at the Ekans oddly. It than "punched" your leg and made little static sparks to indicate an electric attack, and pointed towards the huge snake. Apperantly Flash didn't get the order of the food chain that snakes eat mice. Oh well, you could always recall it if things got out of hand.

As Marmaron attempted to talk with the normal-type Stantlers, he may as well have been talking to a non-responsive brick wall in this situation, for the deer-like creatures simply kept running. Mamaron stared at the pok'emon and folded his arms, trying to make sense of the whole situation. It was as if they'd seen a ghost-the way they were bolting off- but most normal-types were immune to ghost-type attacks completly, so that wouldn't make sense- what exactly COULD be out in a place like this that would scare these deer? Pok'emon that hunted the deer seemed the most likely thing to the red-capped one.. Marmaron adjusted his hat, tensing. Most of the kinds of pok'emon that he could think of off the top of his head that would hunt deer were tough pok'emon- and if his thought in this situation proved true- then he and his team-mates would have to be on their guard.

His preperation proved him well- for even though the pok'emon in general WASN'T an evolved one- it was an Ekans- it was dangerous due to the fact that compared to a normal run-of-the-mill Ekans usually found near farm-houses, it was MASSIVE. Heck, it almost looked as big as the standard ARBOK, for crying out loud! Marmaron twiched slightly, saying, "What the HECK?! How in Arcues's name did that Ekans get that big?! I may not know too much about pok'emon, but even I know that a Seviper is more annaconda-like than an Ekans USUALLY..." The red-capped one tensed further, ready to command his team-mates to attack- but the snake couldn't care less about the trainer. The Ekans struck like lightning for one of the lagging Stantler. marmaron covered the innocent Nana's eyes quickly. he knew he couldn't help that Stantler now-the posion would soon end the pok'emon's life. But seeing such an injustice made his eyes blaze with fury as the snake began coiling around the deer's neck..suddenly, a slight pain in Marmaron's leg made him look down puzzingly to see Flash. The Minun gestured towards the snake, as if he wanted to give the pok'emon a good shock.

Marmaron said, "I admire your idea- but I don't want YOU becoming the next course. Let Popo handle this one, okay pal?" Turning to the male Budew, he said, "Use Extrasensory on that Ekans! Yeah, it's probably a heck of a lot stronger than us..but we can't just stand here and let that injustice happen! We gotta TRY!" Pumping his fist into the air, he hoped the Budew's Psychic egg move would detter the posion-type...
