In Character Information Name: Nephthys - means lady of the house [she was given this name because her mother had died while giving birth to her, thus she became the lady of the house] Gender: female Age: she looks about in her late teens to early twenties; but she was born back in Ancient Egypt… so she’s rather old. [she was 16 when she was turned] Height: tall – approx. 5’8”-6’0” (1.72m-1.83m) Build: thin, lithe, athletic Skin Color: She’s not as pale as most vampires, but she’s not as tan as a typical Egyptian should be. Eye Color: Jade green with golden flecks in them. [a rarity among her people – had been considered by many to be a blessing from the gods] Hair Color: Jet Black Hair Length: Very long, sleek… her hair comes just below the waist – she’s usually got it either loose or slightly braided… usually in some ancient Egyptian influenced style. Distinguishing Marks: she has an eye of Horus tattooed “over/around” her left eye [she will sometimes cover it up however, depending on what she's wearing]. Also will occasionally wear the same makeup as she did back in Ancient Egypt. She also has a tattoo, in black, of an Egyptian Ankh on her back [it spans the whole of her back - the top reaches just below her neck, each "wing" touches a shoulder and the "trunk" reaches down to the small of her back] General Style of Dress: mostly leather or dark colored cloth… she’ll wear mainly black or dark colors, tends towards leather pants/jackets… she also has an amulet that she’s had since before she was turned – its an ancient family heirloom, given to her by her father [so its older then she is]. She also wears some other jewelry that's as old as she is, if not older. Personality: She’s a sweet hearted yet snarky, sarcastic lady, having been born and raised in Pharaohs court, she knows how and when to be a proper lady. However, she’s also usually more quiet then outspoken, a product of her upbringing then by personal choice, due to growing up in an environment where women were “seen and not heard”. Another aspect of her personality is her gentleness. Despite being a vampire, she refuses to harm others unless it’s needed, and even then she refuses to feed off of others, preferring animals… though she will occasionally feed off of the occasional criminal… but even then she wont kill them. She prefers to kill using her bare hands… or with one of her many weapons from her vast collection. It should also be noted that due to having been alone for such a long time [for millenia] she has the tendency to treat other vampires as being family, since her's has long since died. Particularly those who treat her with any sort of friendliness or kindness. Out of Character Information Species: Vampire [she’s of Egyptian descent, was turned when she was still a young lady] Physical Abilities: She was trained by her father in all forms of combat, and over the years has learned all sorts of other styles and forms as well. Coupled with the strengths she has, due to her vampiric heritage [super human strength, cat like reflexes, etc], she’s quite formidable in combat. Due to her sire’s heritage, she also unintentionally has a succubus-like nature. Weaknesses: She shares the same weaknesses as other vampires – weakness to sunlight, holy artifacts, stakes, etc. Her sire’s heritage is also a weakness as if she doesn’t “feed” the succubus heritage then she will lose control over it and the results could be disastrous [in her opinion]. Brief History: She was born back in Ancient Egypt, to a noble family. Her mother having died giving birth to her, she is the only daughter in a family of 4 children and the youngest, and as such she was plenty spoiled as a child. However her father was always quick to make sure that this never went to her head. As the Pharaoh’s general, her father also saw to it that like her brothers she received the absolute best in education as well as in combat training, since he felt that she should be able to defend herself. Deciding to become a priestess of Mut [the goddess of retribution], she studied under the tutelage of Amunet. A few years into her study, Amunet saw the great potential she had, and told Nephthys that they were going to perform a secret ritual to honor Mut. However, she had lied [as was her want] and instead turned her. -------------- Occupation: Doesn’t really need one, as she still has most of her family’s fortune [she’s very good with money], but loves to dabble in bar tending. Being as old as she is she’s had millennia to perfect her abilities and knows a number of concoctions that have long since been forgotten. Residence: She lives in a relatively medium-sized apartment [mostly cause she 1. lives alone and 2. she prefers it that way] on the top floor of 1105 Blackwood Blvd with her pet Egyptian Jackal [male], named: Anubis and her pet black cat [female] named: Bastet. When stepping into her home, it’s like walking through time. She has dozens of artifacts, mostly from Ancient Egypt, but also from Ancient Rome and Greece as well as from various other long lost civilizations. Family Affiliations: Actual blood family: Mother [died during childbirth] Father, 3 older brothers [all long dead] Adopted family: her adopted son [long dead]. Other “family”: Amunet, her sire. Possible Enemies: -------------- Visual Reference(s): dolls will be linked to base sites ![]() -------------- Other random information about Nephthys Timeline: Born: sometime in 1420 BC, in Thebes, during the reign of Amenhotep II [reigned 1427-1400 BC; seventh Pharaoh of the 18th dynasty of Egypt]. Turned: sometime in 1404 BC she was around 16 at the time -------------- Family History: Nephthys’ is from a noble family line, in which the males were always almost exclusively members of the Egyptian Army – many of whom have been in positions of command. Khenti [1440-1405 BC] – her father and the Commander General of the Egyptian Army from 1425-1405 BC, was 35 when he died in combat Aloli [1438-1420 BC] – her mother, was 18 when she died in childbirth [for Nephthys] Baraka [1424-1394 BC] – her eldest brother, was 30 when he died in combat Nebi [1423-1407 BC] – the 2nd son, was 17 when he died of an illness Urshé [1421-1398 BC] – the youngest son, was 23 when he died in a work accident Rasui [889 -849 BC] – her adopted son. She found him, abandoned when he was around 4, in the streets of Thebes. When he turned 18 she offered to turn him, but he refused saying that he wasn’t certain that it was for him. He died, with her at his side, from an illness when he was around 40. Nephthys chooses not to keep track of most of her other "relatives"... she's found it to be rather depressing. However, to this day she continues to honor her father's birthday and death. She also celebrates Rasui's dates of birth and death. -------------- Pet descriptions: Bastet: Black cat. Female. Bastet has been with Nephthys since she was 17. She turned her cat just enough to give her the same longevity but not the thirst, thus this beautiful feline as been with her master ever since. Both seem to share an almost telepathic bond – Bastet can often anticipate Nephthys’ commands and needs, sometimes even before Neph realizes she has them. She’s a pure black cat, who usually has gold marks around her eyes, as well as a pure gold collar – in honor of the goddess Bastet [thus why she shares the goddess’ name] Anubis: Egyptian Jackal. Male. Anubis was found in the desert by Nephthys about 5 years after she was turned. She had been running away from a slaver, who thought that due to her dark nature that she’d fetch a great price; when she stumbled into his den. Sensing her trouble, he attacked the slavers guards, killing them and thus protecting her. As a “reward” she offered him a home and food and the longevity of the vampire race – and he’s been her faithful guardian ever since. His coat is a pure coal black, as are his eyes. He’s usually seen with a pure gold collar and pure gold “cuffs” around his front ankles. It should be noted that Nephthys shares a unique bond with both her pets... in fact the term "pet" could be called a misnomer - they're more like family then like pets to her. She actually can become quite insulted when Bastet and Anubis are referred to as her "pets" as she treats them more like "humans" then animals - even going as far as having actual conversations with them sometimes. She is also able to communicate through thoughts with both her pets as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: Anyone is welcome to "borrow" Nephthys if they need her for background or scenery... i don't really mind - just don't kill her or hurt her without asking me first please. Thanks. |
