Kire667 - PC doesn't work

I should be back in a few days from now to running 2 games at once. I've had a custom made PC from an ex-friend that i paid $1000 for last year. He never gave me any of the drivers CDs or anything other than the hardware pre-installed with pirated Windows 7 Ultimate.

After a year I finally got another tax return so I could afford to end the annoying pop ups every 5 minutes from "This is not a genuine copy of Windows. You maybe a victim of piracy." NEVER UPDATE TO GENUINE!

I just go the CD in the mail today. Went through this $100 CD process of downgrading from Windows 7 Ultimate pirated version to a real copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. Turns out it completely wiped my computer. Now windows can't even detect I have a DSL line active and won't let me on the internet. I ran all of the troubleshoot menus and they always keep saying I need some drivers CD which I never owned in the first place. What's worse half my programs no longer load because everything got corrupted when moved to some folder called "Windows.old". What still works and loads the application for I've moved back to the new copy of Windows 7 and added shortcuts to the Programs folder on Start menu.

Not sure what else to do now but just take it to a repair store and pay them to fix it back to normal. Never thought a "Get Genuine Online Kit" would ruin everything. I figured it would just finally rid of that annoying pop up and prove my copy is legit when I get updates or support from Microsoft.

Stuck using just my laptop that lags hardcore just running Ventrilo along side RuneScape 'old school'. Once it's back however I will be back to playing both versions of RuneScape and being active on the main "Kire667" for resource checks and all that EoC stuff.

Until then, wish me luck making it by on a $200 outdated laptop. :P

What you should do is copy everything you want to keep, store it somewhere and format the hard drive in the pc then install windows using that key. If you're unsure on how to do it there should be lots of guides on the net.
Also try opening the pc itself (unplug) and get the make/model of youre motherboard then google drivers using your laptop.

Yup. I had help on this from my laptop using Ventrilo.

They had me find my motherboard model ID and used that to find the ethernet driver.

Now I'm going back trying to install everything else I've lost. Sucks I don't have the CD for McAfee I paid $80 a year for to reinstall that. I have my email used to buy Fraps so that's easy to download anew. But I've lost Hyperca, xSplit, Skype.

Just got done installing all drivers anew - nVidia, GeForce, DirectX, SunJava, Flash player. Trying to save all my passwords again for YouTube, Yahoo, forum, Facebook. Downloading RS Gamebar and AdBlcok Plus for FireFox.

Other than that somehow it kept all my music files and the notepad files for Offense Database and phone numbers, along with all the unedited videos and photos I've been working on for later upload.

So I guess I'm back without needing to go to a repair store after all. But rebuilding where I left off so I can run RuneScape and access DropBox for staff issues.

Just make sure you haven't installed the new windows on top of the old windows. Because that just makes a mess of things.
