When Diablo 3 gets here you can bet there will be a topic and some recapping on Diablo 2, just give it a little while and it'll be here. |

Having a chat on the forums is almost redundant and pointless. If you want to chat, make use of our IRC that we have a dedicated division of our community and staff. We have members here that take their time to administrate IRC to make sure it's perfectly usable by the entire community. Adding a chatbox means people have to focus their time on yet another division that pretty much already exists. We had one in the past, but it was just spammed and not used often. If you have important information that you would like the entire community to see, the forums are the way to go. If you want to talk to other people playing RS while you play RS, CC is perfect for that. If you want a general, even off-topic chat, IRC. While a chat box can be a fine idea, people should make use of the IRC. If we get a chat box going, no one at all is going to use the IRC chat and it will be an unfortunate waste of resources. I'm sorry to shut down your idea, but it's hard to open up a new chat location when our members don't even care enough to support our dedicated IRC network that has been provided for us for many, many, many years. It's saddening, almost. |

ClayMore: 1) Sakkath/Steve/Black_Skies4 runs the IRC server/channel for NGoR. He also is the host for our website guides. 2) The forum is free hosting by Invision Free boards. 3) I created the free Shout Box for NG (National Guard of Gaming) at the QuickLinks page on upper left at forum. I barely get time from my job to make the daily posts on the top 25 threads on forum, to actually stop by the ShoutBox, but it is linked there. http://www.shoutmix.com/box/ngor/ 4) Ventrillo was hosted by Liam|. After he was blocked from occurrences during early 2009, so was his voice server link removed from the Quick Links page at NGoR. The option is open to anyone whom operates a functional TeamSpeak, xFire, or Ventrillo server for the NGoR to barrow/use/loan. It will be linked from the NGoR on the Quick Links page at NGoR. **Beyond that, I think that covers all of our chat and text options, beyond the clan-channel in RuneScape at Catherby_9. And chat bans and kicks are NOT linked to actions here in the forum, for most cases of the sense. Yet for extreme cases where problems are more than minor infractions or one-time deals, it may expand into punishment on ALL aspects of NG, rather than secluded to a single game or area. 5) All secondary games to that of our primary game since 2003, RuneScape, are listed in the Game Database folder on forum. http://z3.invisionfree.com/NGoR/index.php?...topic=9132&st=0 Check the primary games linked in the Quick Links section for a direct access to the top games that the vast majority of our members play, when not completely obsessed with RuneScape. My time leading a website in Diablo and Diablo 2 was 1999-2003. After such time, my new website was formed, to run the guides and events at RuneScape 1 and RuneScape 2 was 2003-2009. I completely await the introduction of Diablo 3, just this time, learning from my past, I shall retain the SAME website and add a NEW web address name to link to this same website for that such title/game. When I dropped my work on the guide to Diablo 2 and the website and forum of that, we also lost all clan members except for 20. And those 20 faithful members is what built the website we use today, the RuneScape expansion. Seeing as how every website or clan I formed in the past, from the moment I left the game and website, it fell apart under new leadership -- and we tried a total of 5 new leaders, each lacking the devotion and motivation required to lead the members, friends, events, and people. There wasn't a lack for recruitment, as we can see from everyone that moved off that game to RuneScape. It was just some strange events that led to the downfall of Diablo 2. Similar occurred at World of Warcraft, Halo 2, Halo 3, Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead, Cabal, and Titan Quest. I gave multiple months to building up a leader base at each game, but since I depart from the game, posts about that game dropped or ended completely. Yet, there is still activity at various titles mentioned, just not so much in the forum postings. This concludes my novel about OTHER games, for the time being. I shall return later if questions still remain unanswered. Sakkath: Provide them with a link to IRC, so they can find your chat server/channel.

You obviously don't know about us too well, because the IRC channel used to be the main place for the "older" members. I wish we would start to use it, again. CC killed the IRC channel but it's open to everyone and I cannot figure out why nobody uses it. The old days of #NGoR were awesome. #NGoR is the reason I joined this community. |

Making two posts as to make it clear it's no longer a reply to Jimmy. There are a millions ways to access the chat, if you use the chat with SwiftKit you can join #NGoR and from there you will see that it's actually on another IRC network, our own personal network. Instructions are there on how to switch to that server. I will set us up a new Ventrilo server if members volunteer to moderate it. Also, Claymore, no, you will not be able to play D3, sorry. |

Jimmy4848: Until October 2007, starting since March 2003, we used SwiftIRC more than we used the forum at NGoR. As such, the majority of the old rules and old layout was worded to suit the format that Chat Mods and Chat Admin were terms used in regards to IRC. And when a user was blocked from our IRC, they too were banned off forum. That's how huge of an impact the IRC had on NGoR. But ever since the clan-chat began, Jagex has full command of all abuse reports, and we merely handle reports and blocking of offenders they overlook, thus cutting our job down by half. Not to mention, it was far easier to chat IN GAME than it was to always read public and private chat in the game, while looking further down to see what is typed at mIRC. Even the invention of SwiftSwitch in 2004 with the build-in option of IRC would still be a problem, because you cannot type in game or even click in game, when typing to IRC, beyond the game window/box. So yeah, as Sakkath stated, IRC was our life, our purpose, our existence. And EVERYTHING had a chatlog report attached to it, and yet we were mature enough to have game help by day and adult jokes at night, and still manage not to piss anyone off or offend the members, too awfully much. Yet, those days ended, and EVERYONE moved to clan-chat. A few users stuck behind, but we lost some of those during the fall at N9F in January 2009. Luckily though, for us, we are strong together -- so we managed to recruit our way back to nearly 200 members or so. Still attempting to get into contact with others that were deleted in bulk at the hand of Liam| (750 accounts of forum), to get them to re-register under the new staff at NG. Ackerben: In May 2008, we first announced news on the release information of the next project by Blizzard Inc. The announcement of a Diablo 3. It is linked on the "Secondary Games" listing at "Quick Links," by the URL below. When the game is out, all news will be posted there to give members of NG a heads up. http://z3.invisionfree.com/NGoR/index.php?...topic=9155&st=0 Sakkath: Edit the first response, and add response tags to narrate whom you are speaking to, such as I use in all of my responses at forums here or anywhere. Anything -above- the tag is not to that user, anything -below- the tag is directed to the name mentioned. Try it for a whirl, and tell me how it goes. Easier reading one big post, rather than multiple responses in a row from the same user. |

From what I recall is the rule is you can post 2 posts in 24h or something. Anyways, I didn't post more than two and I still never, ever agreed with that rule. If it's obvious spam it's obvious spam; if it was ridiculously unnecessary then it's ridiculously unnecessary, but if it doesn't seem to be a problem, it shouldn't be a problem. That's my two cents... lol. Anyways, Dom, I'm trying to get IRC going as a place to chat off-topic and freely with no stupid fear of pissing off any JaGeX members any way possible. It's a nice place to hang out when you are not playing the game, even at school/work, you name it. That's what the chat box thing would become thus leaving us with even less (somehow) IRC users. I would truly appreciate it if you could some how get some people on IRC, you have to come on too though. Noone is going to come on if they join and see noone else is there. Can you please help me promote it? I will do anything for you and you know I've already done a real lot for you as favors. |

Jake: Make a new account like I always do. I got muted 4 times last month, and I just paid for 4 accounts so I could talk every time I got false muted for minor infractions of RS laws. Sakkath: Anti spam is no more than 1 post per 24 hours. You posted 5 minutes after you just posted, when you could have easily known how to click EDIT to edit a topic you made. |
