This is a matter that was brought to our attention through use of the clan chat channel of Catherby_9, earlier today. And is now an option up for vote by the majority of National Guard of Runescape to decide if this should be covered by a rule or not.

The ClanChat rules, as shown here, guide our Chat Moderators in properly enforcing rules and maintaining order among the users of the world 9 channel of Catherby_9. Through them, we are able to uphold an easily-readable environment, through which users of ALL servers may come to request game help on questions and/or concerns regarding ALL aspects of our game.

The guideline in question is the following:
Quote:

Trades are considered chat flooding (review RuneScape's rule #1). Violations may result in a temporary or permanent mute from the game.

Further reading explains this as:
Quote:

Trading (Buying/Selling)

Asking about the aid of an item is not considered a buy nor a sell, nor a trade of this-for-that. It is merely the offering of a donation, classified under a different description then "trading," since a return payment is not involved.

There are servers designed strictly for the use of trades or buy/sell function. We are working to gather skill users of the game, and to rid of all buy/sell from our server. We cannot hope to achieve this goal we lost in April 2006, if we cannot achieve it in our own clan OF world 9.

Inability to learning how to use the forums of the marketplace, either our own forums -- or that of RuneScape, is a direct disobedience by the user.

The question being posed for review at this time, is the following:

Should the guideline against "buying" or "selling," be used to also govern "trades" as chat flooding (spam), as well?

Trade requests would then be limited to requesting items for the completion of quests or clue scrolls. This would greatly reduce the problem of indifference among users whom fail at locating the official marketplace forums, server 1, server 2, or our own marketplace forums. Likewise, it would help keep chat space open for users whom know the purpose of it, strictly for game discussion and/or assistance (beyond the misused function of a world-wide marketplace).

If they need help on a quest, they can get the item for free. If they need to ask for anything not used in quest or clue scroll, they can do it someplace else. Preferably the forums at RS.

I kinda agree with this. But asking for a quest item/tresure trail item should not count on this rule. I suggest you please state that. Outside from that im kinda with this rule in a sence of mind. ;)

WOW, those are some really FINAL options there Dom. Either not allow any or allow all?

TRADING should be banned in general. Given that quest items, etc aren't "trades".

davilman91: As the vote states, all "non-quest items" should be or should not be an offense of game Rule 1, Chat Flooding (which in turn would be part of the NGoR rules system in clanchat).
