Well, as we all know, I didn't go anywhere for long. But, at least if it gets any worse, everyone knows ahead of time that it is only a temporary issue, and I will have it fixed and be back before 1 week has passed. |

At least it served me well until after the beginnings of the war on usernames was in favor of the return of NGoR46. But sadly, for the last 48 hours, my PC has not got to actually loading Windows XP. Perhaps due to pirated copy that my friend decided to install for me during the last reformat, it now restarts itself just before reaching the Windows loading screen. So, I will have to buy a new harddrive (if I cannot reformat the ones I have), as well a legit copy of Windows XP Professional. A total of roughly $500, to return home to the group and game. But, if all goes as planned, I should be back more than a mere 3 hours per night (when my nephew is asleep, and not leading for World of Warcraft on his PC). The next video shall be postponed, and I am working hard in order to save that 4m gp we need for the July 10th and 12th drops. So, wish me luck. I will be around nightly in town, still helping to manage the rules in town over new offenses. But it won't be my usual timeframe, until my own PC is fixed. |

try getting the repair console up and running kire and type /rebuild bootconfig that should help if the bootfile is corrupt. I messed with the file enough making a custom screen which ended up freezing it or like your case restarts. |

First off, last night I bought a copy of Windows Vista Home Basic (full version, not upgrade). I also got a new 320 Gigabyte hard drive. After getting home, putting the CD in, and waiting for the first white loading screen of "Windows is installing", it again powered down directly afterwards. So, today, I took my PC tower to Curciut City, to have their FireDog (PC repair team) to look into it. The siad the wiring was not hooked in properly (since I had so many cables, that I was using a secondary instead of the primary power cable from the power box, and that was why it lacked power). After they were near the end of instalation of Windows Vista Home, again the tower powered down. And as usual, they had to flip the back powerbox switch off/on a couple of times, in order to get it to power back on. They claimed the reason was due to excess dust build up. So, if anyone else has a problem of their system auto-restarting any time Windows starts to run, it is due to dust build up within the processor fan, itself. Took it outside, took the whole thing apart, and used the pressurized air unit (same thing used to fill the air in my car's tires), and blew all of the dust from the inside of my PC tower. And I made sure to get all of the clumps of 2-years of built up gray dust, from out of the fan to the Pentium 4 2.80 Gigahurtz processor. And that, was the whole reason it overheated time and time again, for about 1-2 weeks of headaches of not being able to hang with my friends here at NGoR. At any rate. I am back for good (finally). And now, I just need to blow the dust out of my nephew's PC tower. He is having a similar problem, but at least his would reach the loading of start-up programs such as AIM, MSN, Zone Alarm, SpyBot Security, BellSouth Help Center.. before auto-restarting itself. But still a similar problem to the one I had, and I assumed it was just a virus that him and my PC both got through the LAN line. Oh, and a few more things. The 2-Gigabyte harddrive I was using as the source for Windows XP Professional, was completely shot. The guy couldn't even get it to spin, in order to format it for me to re-use. But, I do have the spare 80-Gigabyte harddrive, of which I will be installing into my nephews PC tower, so that perhaps he can half-way catch up to my 320 Gigabyte harddrive. Already feel bad since he has a 5500 GeForce graphics card, and I am sitting here with a 6600 GeFore card, and only using it to run RuneScape and forum, rather than World of Warcraft (as he is currently). Not to mention my 1-Gigabyte of SD RAM, where as he only has maybe 512 Gigabytes of SD (single density) RAM.I did, however get myself a ball/optical mouse, so less space used for my NGoR custom mousepad. I just wheel it around, and use my thumb and pinky to left or right click. Takes some getting used to, after 9 years using a ball mouse, and then an optical mouse. Drawback is I can't use the wheel to scroll easily down or up on forum pages, yet.. it makes up for my wrist not hurting anymore. ![]() And, if I ever get some more crap paid off, the next thing I need is to get myself 1-Gigabyte of DDR (dual-density) RAM. So, that would perhaps be the only thing I lack for perfection once again. Either that, or buying a new motherboard, which can support dual processors (and then getting myself a second Pentium 4 2.80Ghz processor). Anything to help make my PC never lag again, no matter if I am playing World of Warcraft or RuneScape 2 during a busy night. |

Very nice. Vista is to bloated. Learn bash, and get Linux. Fedora 7, Sabayon, or Gentoo are good, from what CoLiN and Sakkath tell me. Also, Sorry I haven't been in Cath 9 much. I have been up in the mountains near crandor training. Went from 64-75 combat in a week. Doing well on that. Glad yo see your back. Read your pee emms, ffs.

Liam I have tried a little Sabayon it is the first one to autodetect and enable my ethernet card and have no video issues just got to fix the sound and all is cool except for in install issue which im resolving. Dominion: The program kire is Ancronis True Image when you install your xp again get all your drivers up to date and install you anti-virus/spyware and make a copy of it. Then install your other programs and make a backup of them on a seperate disk if you don't have a dvd burner get one this will be big files. Seperating the basic xp and in other programs will mean that if you have a virus on the other programs and you forgot you have a clean xp copy ready you go. It took me all of oh 10 minutes 2 days ago to erase my hd and use my cloned xp partition on my dvd. It should be done every erased year to clean all the crap out that ms see fit to clog it with. It can have a big improvement of your system speed with out having to sort a years worth of garbage. |
