Summons Tab:
Posted Image

Any time you have a follower out, you can click on the summoning tab, to view the status of your pet. This shows the image of your follower, the hungry percentage from 0 (not hungry) through 100 (starving).

It also shows the percentage of how much progress has been completed until the next form/evolution. You can use this menu to call your pet to you, or to discard your pet.

  • Kitten:
    Posted Image

  1. If a message comes up on your chat area, saying your pet is "hungry;" left click one of your raw tuna, and click your pet to feed him/her.
    Posted Image
  2. If a message comes up on your chat area, saying your pet is "really hungry;" left click 2 of your raw tuna, and click your pet to feed him/her.
    Posted Image
  3. If a message comes up on your chat area, saying your pet is "lonely;" right click your pet, and click "talk to."
    Posted Image
  4. Should you fail to pay attention to your cat, s/he will run off. You can buy another kitten from Gertrude at a price of 100 gold coins.
    Posted Image
  5. In about 3 hours game time, your kitten should evolve into the next form.
    Posted Image

  • Cat:
    Posted Image

  1. Whenever you notice your kitten say "miaow!", right click, click "interact-with", and click "stroke."
  2. No longer will your pet get hungry, so you can bank the raw tuna.
  3. You will mainly be walking around or killing rats. To kill rats (Varrock Sewer or Remmington work good for this), right click your pet, and click "interact-with," then click to "chase-vermin."
  4. In about 3 hours game time, your kitten should evolve into the next form.
    Posted Image

  • Overgrown:
    Posted Image

  1. This WAS the ultimate form for this pet, until the new quest was added later: Rat Catcher.
  2. Complete the new quest, and read further on how to advance to further forms of your pet.

  • Wiley:
    Posted Image

  1. After completing the Rat Catcher quest, you can take your Overgrown Cat to Port Sarim's sewer. Here you can make it into a Wiley Cat for free, and also name it (up to 6 letters).
  2. This form is used mainly for the Cat Pits, where you can battle your cat against another player's cat.

  • Lazy:
    Posted Image

  1. This WAS the ultimate form for this pet, until the new quest was added later: Recipe for Disaster.
  2. Complete the new quest, and read further on how to advance to further forms of your pet.
  3. If you catch rats, you can get your Lazy Cat back into shape, and once more become a Wiley Cat.
  4. If you don't catch rats for about 30 minutes, s/he will resort back to a Lazy Cat.

  • HellCat:
    Posted Image

  1. Start the Recipe For Disaster quest. Finish getting the Cook's materials for him.
  2. Inspect Evil Dave at the end of the cutscene. The Gypsy will tell you that you need to speak to his real-time equivalent.
  3. Go to Edgeville, and go to the house, just west of the bank.
  4. Ask him about his favourite food, etc. Then go and talk to his mother upstairs.
  5. She'll tell you that the Hell-Rats downstairs stole her Spices.
  6. Now you need to get your Kitten/Cat out of the bank (or from Gertude). It is recommended that you have a Cat, as it is much better at catching rats than a Kitten.
  7. Now you need to go back downstairs. Have your cat kill 7 of the Hell-Rats. DO NOT FEED YOUR CAT\KITTEN MILK!! THEY WILL REVERT!
  8. Hopefully, your Kitten\Cat will transform into a HellCat. If you want the normal Cat back, talk to Evil Dave's mother, or feed it milk.

  • Clockwork Cat:
    Posted Image

  1. After leveling your construction to 42, and your crafting to 85, you will be able to use your , to make one.
  2. This form is for show/market only. They will follow you the same as any pet cat. (For market value to other players, see our Player Price Guide at NGoR HQ.)

  • Various Colors:[/center]
When you buy a kitten from Gertrude for 100 gold, it is a random color. So, to get the one you want, right click the unwanted pet, click "interact-with," and click "shoo away."

White, Black, Blue, Brown, Orange, Gray, Red (Hellcat)

    Useful Items:

  • Ball of Wool: This is used on your pet when it gets "lonely." It gives him/her something to play with. (Use sheers on a sheep, and get wool. Use wool on a spinning wheel to make a ball of wool.)
  • Cat-Trainer Necklace: This item, when worn, reduces the time required for each stage of the pet's evolution process.
  • Cat-Speak Amulet: Reward for completing Itchican's Little Helper quest. Used to speak to your cat. All responses are automated, and in no way aids in raising the pet. It is merely for additional entertainment.
  • Cat Toy (Whip): Reward for completing Tail of 2 Cats quest. Used same as a ball of wool, when your pet is "lonely."

    General Questions:

  • Q: Why does my kitten/cat run away?
A: You failed to see it say "miaow" too many times, or else you didn't "stroke" or "talk to" your pet when your got a messege to do so.

  • Q: My kitten/cat disappeared, and I didn't get a messege saying "Oh no, my pet ran away!" Why is this?
A: Jagex isn't perfect. Leave 1 space open in your bag, and it should return there within a few minutes. If you don't leave 1 space free in your bag, when it does return, you will automatically get the messege, "Oh no, my pet ran away!"

  • Q: Can I lose my pet if I die?
A: Yes. The store value is 0gp (can't sell), so it is automatically lost upon death of player.

  • Q: Can I lose my pet if I die at Castle Wars/Duel Arena/Fight Cave/Fight Pit?
A: No. If you don't lose items upon death, you won't lose your pet.

  • Q: Can I lose my pet at Cat Pits?
A: Yes. And may the best pet win. But that sure won't be any of mine. I keep mine as show cats, to the world.

  • Q: Does my pet follow me where I go (teleport, ladder, boat, stairs, lever)?
A: Yes, on most situations. If you wander too far away from your pet, it will teleport to your exact location.

  • Q: Will I lose my pet if I lag or log out, and the pet isn't in my bank or inventory?
A: You pet will appear at your exact location as you log in.

  • Q: What if my pet is bad?
A: Well, then it may be time for physical punishment. (joke)

Interesting name for your cat.... ;) Nice kitty.... Purr Purr....

Thanks for the guide, Dom. One comment- those kittens will eat anything, milk, shrimp, tuna, lobbies, swordies, and even sharks. cooked or raw. tuna is cheap and handy, but in a pinch i think just about any seafood will do.

My cat ate 20 sharks during the fight with the king rat in ratcatcher quest. Unreal.

Zandie: Oh, did they change it? Before, in early RS2, I thought you couldn't feed anything of lobster or shark to a kitten. I'll have to test that to see if you're justbeing sarcastic.

Don't believe me? Would I lie to you? :)

Hey, your "Cat" has gained 10 levels since that picture was taken... :Woot:

One comment about cats: someone asked me last night if cats tellie with you. Answer is yes, they tellie, board boats, go up and down ladders, walk through shortcuts.... but they will not go to the Mossy Island by Castle Wars! You need to pick the cat up before you use rope swing or it will meow helplessly and forlornly along the banks of the mainland.

And ya, they will die with you, never to be seen again, so bank them if you are going on a perilous jouirney...

Meow! Purr... Purr....

Zandra: Thanks for the information. I'll add that to the guide now.

Also, does anyone have the missing images I'm going for? I keep forgetting to take a pic of mine as it goes through the stages, but one day.. I'll get them.

The various cat colors, I want to list them all as images too.

I um, added a joke question to the end of the guide, incase some of you forgot to read it for old times sake.

Okay, I just added Hellcats to the list, being the new reward from the quest named Recipe for Disaster. They are obtained through some miniquest, found after beating that new qeust to RS2 P2P.

hamtarorox: Thanks for that section of the guide which I couldn't achieve since I lost my main. I added it to the posted guide, for easy viewing. Also, I added a few more images for the verbals seen while raising a pet cat.
