This is something I was telling Coil101, the new Forum Leader, about what the NGoR stands for, as far as beliefs and purpose. So, feel free to say if you agree or disagree with the following PM'd message. Also, let me know if you even knew the whole situation behind the 'community' idea (which was far from what we started out as).

PM from Dominion to Coil101 on November 5th
2004
This is just your friendly reminder, telling you to watch the forced use of the word 'clan' anything. NGoR is a 'community', never 'clan'. That is the 'MF-D' which is considered a 'clan'.

We have a contract with several of the allied 'clans', in which we inter-swap members with them, as long as we remain a 'community' group.

Also, being a 'community', we avoid all disputes of wars and alliance forced-wars. All members are freelance, and no 1 user is ever to be threatened by any clan for the actions of another member within the 'community'.

This bypasses the rule of multi-claning. Because NGoR is a 'community' group, we are allowed to recruit members from allied clans, and they agree to allow most members to join the NGoR, while still being part of the 'clans' they love. This is why NGoR works so well with recruiting all players, because we have no boundaries of '1-clan' rules. The only limit on recruitment and maintaining those members are the boundaries of the world of Runescape. ^_^

OMG. Your leaking secret PM-Information.

>.> Well, I am rather new. It's just a habit. Which I AM trying to break. If I do accidently call it clan, simpily reply or PM with me with this message:

And I will then slam my head into a wall and edit my post.

Heh, alrighty then. It's okay, as you are aware, by how quickly Raven replied to you wording, that it isn't the first time, and it's far from the last. Everyone who joins considers it a 'clan'. We will probably get more of it as time progresses, as well, because I had to find a way around posting it in the RSC forums. he only thing they allow are 'clans', and they also state 'all tip site posts will be deleted'. So, what's a hard-working community going to do? Conform to whatever guidelines are needed to gain the notice of the players we are built upon. ;)

clan - group of families with common ancestor; group with common interest.

community - group of people living in the same locality or having the same ... interests ...

We don't want anyone thinking we are all related.

Raven: You are the only one to correct Coil so quickly. I know it was me who first told you, and stressed it as I tend to do. Thanks for helping me keep the wording out there.

As I see it:
  • Clan:
  • Battles -- against other clans, to become the top of all clans.
  • Led by a few (usually 1).
  • Rules -- many of which can get you banned, if broken.
  • Free items (if any) -- generated by forcing or persuading members into giving.
  • Events -- mandatory, usually threat of being banned if you do not attend.

    Community:
  • Competes -- for the most popularity, in order to become the top of all sites.
  • Mantained by more than 10 people (usually).
  • Rules -- more leaniant, and less possibility to get banned.
  • Free items -- generated by free will, and sincere want to 'help your fellow player'.
  • Events -- not mandatory to maintain membership.

after reading that

by the way i run my clan
its not really a clan after all

i dont force anyone to do anything
but we all love battle
and we give each other free stuff
so my clan is really a community

Wei Empire Community :D

It's alright, though. I got into a total disagreeance with a member of one of the current 'top' RS clans about this, before I found out. He claimed his clan was the better, because they won more battles over other clans. This is the constant determinant behind any 'clan' you speak with.

And, even though I am proud to keep the same name, clan MF-D; it was my way of making a 'clan', which would not conform to the laws of most 'clans'. But, in the world of Diablo II (much like on Halo 2), any group is a 'clan', reguardless if you deny the title or not. :P

I think something from the past is still not changed. Maybe somewhere in one of the very first redirect links it mentions "clan". Or else the clan MF-D is confusing everyone.. since it does own the NGoR. :P But neither is a "clan" function or purpose.

We only adapted to the newfound word of "community" after expansion into Runescape. And forever more, we shall use the word we have always been seeking, but just never knew was a proer term used for a gaming group.
