Blake sauntered through the halls, greeting each member of his staff cheerfully as he passed them. Things had gotten lonely since Mia had gone back to France to visit her sister, but he was dealing. Or had been dealing, until earlier today. Passing a young couple making out in a small alcove off to the side of a nearly abandoned corridor had nearly wrenched his heart out of his chest. Once out of sight of his staff, he sighed and strolled into his throne room. Upon entry, he walked over to his throne and sat himself in it, mentally preparing himself for the day's business. He smoothed his jet-black hair into place, then tousled it a bit to give himself a bit of an unkept look. His emerald-green eyes swept over the room before they shut, giving him the false appearance of sleep. 'What have you gotten yourself into, Blake? What have you gotten yourself into?'

Kaylee sat in the throne room with Blake. She lifted one hand up to her face in boredom yet said nothing. He just looks so sad. I wish I could do something... She continued doing nothing and moved on to playing with her long hair, twisting and turning it. She bit her lip lightly in deep thought. Should I try and cheer him up? I mean, I don't really know him. She decided to keep quiet, thinking he would talk if he liked, and continued finding little things on herself to preoccupy her time.

It was a day well postponed, too well postponed in the opinions of the Elf's traveling companions. Shoulders sleek and motions tame and calculated, the party of three strode the halls casually, although they evoked stares and gasps with their passing. The sight of them was all they seemed to leave their viewers with, however, as ten feet touched the floor and not a single footfall made a sound.
The three of them came to a stop as they passed the hall leading to the throne, mostly at the sound of a frightened yip of a passing staff member on the opposite side of the hall. His response was quick and apologetic, "Ah, they did not mean to startle you, ma'am. I assure you, Campaign and Apollo are nothing to worry of." The pair mentioned silently looked on, standing upon the right and left of Socrates with their forms almost gleaming in the faltering light of the hall. After a moment's passing, the three proceeded down the hall with means to visit the highest occupant. And set to do just this, the three entered the room before breaking the silence of the room with their presence. The Elf bowed his thin, sun-kissed frame in respect, the two at his sides coming to sit in response to this motion. Campaign on his left side seemed to focus more upon Blake than anything else, Apollo inversely seemed to flash a glance in the direction of the other occupant, Kaylee. "Good day, good day. I bring tidings of refreshment to these nature-barren halls of stone, hark! Surely your day would not have been so fulfilled without a visit from lady Campaign of the Amazon and lord Apollo of Bengal." His humor was obviously intended to lighten the grim mood he perceived the moment he entered, as only referring to a panther and tiger as 'lady' and 'lord' could. Good-naturedly, Apollo grumbled at his post, and Campaign cast a paw over her face, smoothing a stray hair into place between her eyes.

Startled, Blake opened both eyes and stood quickly, in attack form and ready to fight until he saw it was only a mere guest and not an intruder. He quickly regained his composure and bowed slightly to the rather large felines. "How do you do, Lord, Lady?" He straightened and focused on the stranger. "And who might you be, sir? And what 'tidings of refreshment' precisely have you brought to me?" He glanced over at the female Kaylee before walking over to stand by her. "And who might you be?" He turned on his charm as he smiled and winked at her, holding his hand out to help her stand like the true gentleman that he was.

"A simple oracle by the name of Socrates. 'Twas a simple stroll for me and the lord and lady, they grow rather bored having to wait my return at the manor. But being attuned to all things natural, and intrigued by all things not, a building of laid stone was simply too interesting for me to pass up." The thin Elven male then offered a wayward glance to the window, spending only a moment distracted before returning to the conversation, at the cue of a tail-nudging from Campaign. "And once I entered these stone halls, and was essentially severed from nature's voice, I attuned to a different wavelength, one which seemed heavy, and in need of abrupt intervention of a lightening sort."
With a gesture of open palms turned upwards and motioned forth into the room, Campaign and Apollo moving from their respectful seated positions to majestically prance across the room, inspecting their various curiosities. Campaign was first to approach the pair, her deep emerald gaze inquisitive in nature. She sat promptly a few feet away and raised a paw, before making a pronounced stepping motion. When Apollo saw this, he turned his attention from a coat of arms high out of his reach and moved to sit beside her, obediently. The two proceeded to look upon the two with wonder, occasionally glancing at one another. "You'll have to excuse their curiosity, they mean no insult and are certainly very tame, but it's not everyday they see more than canaries or the occasional sand crane."

Blake laughed and reached out his other hand, keeping one out to Kaylee, to the felines for them to sniff. "Well, I was sulking and then this pretty young thing came in and sat down. I was just about to stand and introduce myself when you walked in." He motioned to the pair in front of him with his head. "And as to their curiosity, well, I've always loved felines, especially those of a larger nature." He smiled, then introduced himself. "How could I be so silly? I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Blake Dwennon, King of the Vampires and owner of the beauty you see around you. Excluding the two here and this magnificent female beside me." He grinned at Kaylee again, straightening some as a messenger rushed into the room. The male was breathing heavily as he tried to relay his message. "Yes boy? Spit it out," he ordered. "Well, sir...It's about Miss Chetwin...we just got word...She's dead, sir, there was an accident in France. Apparently a dog was running by her, being chased by a butcher for stealing his meat, and the dog accidentally hit her and she fell into the reach of a waterwheel. She died instantly sir, there was no saving her. I'm sorry sir." The messenger bowed and stepped out of the room, shutting the door behind him. Blake stared at the door, a pained look rising onto his face. "My Mia...she's gone..." He sank to the floor slowly, a few tears rolling down his face. "I can't believe it...Il mio amore, la mia Amelia..." 'My love, my Amelia...She is gone forever...' He thought quietly to himself as he stared at the door, as if waiting for her to dance through the doors and announce that it was just a cruel hoax that someone had played on him. "My Mia..."

Kaylee was just about to grab Blake's hand when a messenger ran into the room and relayed a message for Blake. At seeing his reaction, her smile quickly turned into a look of sadness. Oh no. He looks so hurt! What should I do? She quickly got to her knees next to him and wrapped one arm around him. "I'm so sorry for your loss. You seem to have really cared about this woman." She continued sitting next to him hoping that in some way, she was cheering him up, even if just slightly.

The two watched on with their curiosity only piqued by the sudden emotional outburst of the larger figure. Campaign acted first, promptly moving closer still and licking her velvety right paw, before extending it to groom the male's hair. While only a very basic gesture, it showed her respect and willingness to lend a paw keeping shaggy hairs in check. To her species more than most, grooming is not only a symbol of status but an essential survival component. Socrates took a step nearer, kneeling beside Apollo and placing a hand upon the larger feline's head. "Well, she's better with words in this sort of situation than either of us, my boy. In the face of loss, one has to first consider his Pride before becoming consumed with his own inner loose hairs. The Pride come first, as those beneath the leader depend on his outward strength and inner judgment. I think she means to say your composure will serve you best in these tough times, and the rest will smooth itself out as you continue forward."
Raising to his full height then, the Elven male moved his hand to his satchel which hung across his lower back, drawing fourth a lyre. With a gentle precision, he slowly began to pluck the stringed instrument, crafting a slow nocturne for the moment, which resounded in the stone room with a reverberation not usual company of his music. But given the setting, and the inability of his notes to commune with the trees and the earth, the sound was soft but missing a very small piece only found in nature. The gesture was met with watchful eyes as Campaign sought any signs of improvement in the male. Apollo settled himself nearer the female, giving her a curious look of his own.

Blake inhaled slowly, calming himself almost immediately. Glancing at Kaylee, he nodded. "Yes...Mia...I mean Amelia...she was mi amor, my love. We've been together for centuries now." Unconsciously, he kept shifting between languages in his grief. Looking up to the feline sitting in front of him, he nodded, then brushed his hair with a brush kept in his back pocket. He tilted his head toward her, speaking as he slowly reached out a hand toward her head. "Thank you, my dearest Lady. I appreciate your help toward my appearance, but I would rather not have any saliva in my hair, even if it comes from feline royalty." He looked up to Socrates then, addressing the male before him. "Are you in need of a place to stay? If so, I have a suite that you may use. It overlooks the central garden, and you would obviously need a suite for these magnificent creatures here." He spoke with pride about his garden. It was his pride and joy, taking care of his garden, and he spent any free time he had working on it himself. Though of course he had gardeners to help out whenever he was not free. He shifted his focus to Kaylee once more. "Of course, if you are in need of a place to stay, I can arrange something for you as well." He looked to each individual before speaking next. "And I can arrange a small meal if any of you are hungry...? We could even dine in here if you wished." He held his hand out for Kaylee again, a small smile on his face. "You never did give me your name."

Kaylee looked at Blake and sighed. "Amelia is in a better place now, and you'll see her again." I hope that helps... She looked down at the small felines and she lightly brushed her fingers along one's back. She continued this a few more times before grabbing Blake's offered hand and giving a light smile. "Thank you for the offer, but I don't want to put you out of your way unless absolutely necessary. And my name is Kaylee Delaine, sir." She turned to Socrates and gave a light bow of the head and a quiet hello. "So, I heard that you're friends with my older sister, Bryn? How did you guys meet? She doesn't tell me anything these days." She tried to keep on a smile to lighten the mood, though she always was a pretty happy person in general, always trying to find the best in any situation.

Campaign and Apollo were content at the attention they'd been paid and each quietly rumbled with their own purring while looking on. Socrates opted a soft shake of his head when offered temporary residence. "If only I could keep in one place for a period of time long enough to warrant having a bed drawn.. Unfortunately I'll be heading back to Bihar once the sun sets. The lord and lady keep the estate in my absence, today's simply the one day a week we travel as a pride and they get the chance to really stretch their limbs." Speaking with an engaging smile, he actually continued to play softly as he spoke, before ending the song on a sharp and quick last note and sheathing his instrument to seem more engaged in the conversation.
Then considering the question posed to him by Kaylee, his ears shifted as his face took on a look of thought. "Hmm, well I do travel often and I've met a great many people through my lyre or my fortune-telling.. I'm sorry to say I have a hard time remembering each person, and your sister seems to just barely escape my recognition. OR perhaps I brewed some medicine for her at some point..?" Almost apologetic, he recalled that he hadn't informed them of his profession and quickly reached into his satchel and withdrew a small vial and a single tarot card. "I didn't mention it earlier, but I travel with a twofold purpose, one to follow in the footsteps of my teacher, the other to dispense nature's cure to the deserving."

After hearing the female's name, he stood there trying to figure out the familiarity of it until he heard her sister's name. He chuckled to himself before turning the female toward himself. "I believe you were to ask me, love. I know Bryn. Yes, I'm friends with her, and we met when she traveled here to meet me, as all subjects should do in the country of their species' ruler. Anyway, she is staying in the Palace right now, although I do believe she is out saving some poor dog. Again." Smiling even as he sighed at the lecture that would follow Brynna bringing another dog to the Palace, he spoke again. "And you are welcome to the suite next to hers, I'll have a maid clean it up for you if you wish. It's really no trouble. I have too much room, actually. It is a rare occasion when someone stays here." He turned to Socrates at this point, frowning some. "Are you sure you won't stay? Like I said before, it's really no problem. And I'm sure that there are probably people, or animals, in the surrounding villages that could use medical help."

Kaylee gave a light smile. It honestly didn't bother who answered her question because she got to know both a little better through it, which was her goal. She looked towards Socrates and gave a light smile. "So you're into medicine?" she asked with curiosity. She bent down again to give more attention to the two felines on the floor. She just loved animals. She sat down and crossed her legs, looking up to the two men before her. She turned her head quickly to Blake. "Yes, now that I know my sister is here, I would love a room next to hers. I feel like I haven't seen her in decades. We need to catch up." She looked down again, and started to play with her hair once more; a nervous habit she acquired in her youth when around strangers.

Considering the idea of prolonging his stay for a moment, he seemed to stop paying attention briefly before returning to the moment with his eyes. Weighing the options and risks of keeping Campaign and Apollo with him during the proposed stay, he proceeded to move over to the two, placing his hand upon the necks of each, acquiring their attention and most likely engaging in a wordless conversation with each, asking their take on the idea. After a short period of this, he came to nod and then rose to a standing position.
"Why, yes, ma'am. One could attribute my love of medicine to knowledge of nature and anatomy. You've no illness in you I would hope, but your face isn't that of one who's suffering." Once more, his hands returned to his satchel, retrieving an intricate pair of gloves which seemed to be crafted of a heavy black fabric of some sort and embroidered with gold. The index and middle fingers of the gloves were elongated into small spoons. Adorning these strange gloves, Socrates adjusted his fingers slightly, before glancing out the window for but a brief moment. "Perhaps this once, I'll extend our outing a night to tend to the area. But worry not for acquiring us lodging, Campaign and Apollo would much rather perch themselves out under the night sky, I'd surmise they'd make their way to the rooftops rather than stay inside for the evening."

Putting out a hand to keep Kaylee from playing with her hair, Blake smiled as he nodded. "Then it shall be done." He quickly called for a maid and gave her her orders before sending the female away. "There, your suite will be ready within the hour." Looking at the male next, he addressed the room issue. "When I spoke of my central garden suite, I wasn't kidding. It's rather large, with a small group of trees, many flowers, a small pond, and a rock garden, to name some of its beautiful features. It also is one of the few suites that has a door up to the roof, the others being mine, Kaylee's, and a few empty suites. It has a balcony if you don't want to travel too high, and also a door that leads to the tower. I think it is one of two suites with all three features, the other being my own, of course." He continued to attempt to convince Socrates to stay in the suite, trying to show off his garden. Of course he was being a bit vain, but that was a matter for a different time. He slowly pet Campaign's head with a gentleness and kindness that stems from a love of animals, big or small. Glancing at the large feline, he grinned and chuckled. "I think my kitten may be a relative of yours. She's a small black fluffball."
