Thor

Avengers
as the clouds over manhatten darkend late at night the crowed scattered as the rain began to fall hard. a small trickle became a a raging thunderstorm. as the storm cut the power to the island a flash came from the sky as the hammer mjolnir fell toward the ground like a meteor smashing concrete as it impacted the street right smack in the middle of time square. scattering the people around it

back at avengers tower, the alarms signaled and blared letting the team know that there was something not quite right the computers would indicate the meteor was in fact mjolnir. but thor would never let his hammer cause damage to innocent people.
as shield began setting up the quarentine zone the avengers would need to arrive...soon

One of the SHIELD agents helping out with the quarantine zone wasn't a SHIELD agent at all, but they blended in well enough. Just slap on a uniform in a hectic situation, and even one of these supposedly special groups of spies and overly hyped guards would let their guard down just enough to let a being like Loki Laufeyson get close enough to see what the situation was.

"I thought I recognized the weather..." Tossing off the hat that covered her face, Loki took a knee next to the Asgardian weapon, shaking her head. "What caused dear old brother to drop his precious hammer, I wonder?" Half a smirk came to her lips. It had to be something substantially powerful to knock Mjolnir out of Thor's tight grip, and keep him down long enough so that he couldn't just call it back.

Without trying to pick it up, Loki's fingers snaked around the short pommel, gripping it tight. A few SHIELD agents took notice, and barked some orders at her, only for Loki to flick a finger and cause a burst of green flame to shoot out at them. It was mostly a distraction, a warning shot, but it made a fuss that drew attention. With weapons being drawn, Loki sighed and rose back up, letting go of the Hammer for her hand to reach out into the air itself and draw forth her sceptre.

"Listen here, you self-righteous goon squad... I'm Thor's next of kin. We all know that I can't personally move his hammer. But consider me its guardian until he gets back."

Why was Loki, Goddess of Mischief, Nemesis of Thor, injecting herself into the situation? Why not?

Even before her Avengers Identicard, a relic of having joined them when she had married T'Challa, began its insistent beeping, Ororo had sensed that something was awry. It was no sixth sense, or women's intuition, merely her powers as the previously clear day had nearly instantly turned dark and foreboding. She stood at her window for a moment, looking out, and knew it wasn't natural. There was a wrongness about it, a lack of supporting patterns. This wasn't natural, or even manipulated, as she was able to do.

No, this had been conjured.

Tapping her Identicard so that the stopped, she stepped out of her window, arms wide. "Currents, hold me aloft!" Sometimes speaking aloud seemed to help her focus her powers, and in this unnatural weather, she wanted all the focus she could muster. Then something flashed, not lightning, but seemingly fire, and she flashed back to piloting the Blackbird down to Earth, and the way the heat shielding had looked...

The Identicard beeped again, but not an alert this time. A message, or query. Her eyes, already white from using her powers, seemed to grow as she read the message. Mjolnir had fallen to Earth. Avengers had been requested. Only a few blocks away, she skillfully flew there, using the winds and thermal updrafts to navigate. She could see some of the first responders: NYPD, NYFD, SHIELD and she touched down close to them, easily going from her flight to a brisk walk. She rarely was one to take advantage of the 'do you know who I am?' question, but if ever there was a time, it was now.

"I am Storm, with the Avengers. Who is in charge here?" Before there was an answer, she noticed a bright green flame. Without waiting for permission, she walked towards its source, not sure just who to expect. It was a strangely familiar woman, someone she swore she might have encountered, yet she was unable to place her. "I know that hammer, and its owner, but I do not know you. Where is Thor?"
I am a woman, a mutant, a thief, an X-Men, a lover, a wife, a queen. I am all these things. I am Storm, and for me, there are no such things as limits.

as his adopted sibling and the weather witch met and would discuss the hammer the odinson was traveling at breakneck speeds thrugh the bifrost. But he was not alone. as they traveled he was mid combat with the great and powerful surter but thor was not infact the god of hammers, he was the god of thunder as they spend through the rainbow portal thors eyes glowed with electrical power as he struck the fire demon exchanging blow for blow the sounds of the two titans echoing to no one but tthem selves as they sped along .

The storms over manhatten seemed to be getting worse as rain began to pour more heavily and the winds picked up blowing wildly this was the work of the thunderer indeed but more then anyone could imagine was at stake.

KRAKATHOOM thunder struck a near by building as the storm began to rage even faster winds almost ripping the makeshit structure shield had set up from the ground. car alarms began blearing in the distance

The blows from the fire demon and the god of thunder only became faster and harder.

FOUL DEMON I SHALL STRIKE YOU DOWN

as they seperated in the transport stream thor thor cupped his hands together and summoned forth a ball of energy cracking and sparking

KRAKAKAKA THOOM. the beam of energy hit surter scare in the chest and pushed him farther away from thor in the beam

While at first it seemed that the mortals around her were willing to back off and not risk provoking someone who could summon weapons out of thin air, of course there were the few exceptional mortals that didn't recognize true power... or the one that wielded it. It was fair, as Loki had only started getting back into the phase of wandering Midgard in a womanly form recently; she hadn't done anything of true note wearing such a face, until now.

With a smile, the Goddess of Mischief let her mischievous spells dissolve; rather than being dressed as one of these SHIELD goons, a golden shimmer journeyed across Loki's form, replacing such drag mortal clothing with a dark green dress befitting her royal status. It shimmered faintly, even in the overcast light of the day, with a dazzling golden belt around her waist, bearing a few decorative charms covered in sorcerous symbols. Most notably, however, were the proud golden horned crown that appeared on her head.

"I am Loki, of course."

With both hands on her sceptre, Loki narrowed her green eyes at Storm. "Storm... of the Avengers? I thought you were one of those X-Men? Or do you lot share more of your numbers now? I assumed only the short, hairy, clawed one from the North was an Avenger." The Avengers... A big mistake, an unfortunate outcome of yesteryears' plots to embarrass and kill Thor. But, also a good means to gauge her own strength and capabilities.

"Know my brother you may, but not as well as I. And I know that he does not easily let loose his hammer and not have it immediately return to his hands. And... for this reason, along with the foul weather, which is indeed magical in nature and not the result of your odd little mutant trickery, I have cause for concern. Because it may mean he either missed whoever he threw Mjolnir at, or it was knocked from his hand. Probably the former. He's not got the best aim."

Storm's expression, carefully neutral, immediately changed as the woman revealed herself to be Loki, the God(dess) of Mischief. While she didn't have an extensive history with the Asgardian, she had heard plenty of stories. "I did not recognize you. My apologies." As a man, Loki had been handsome, if in a clever sort of way. As a woman, though, she was definitely in the beautiful category. "I didn't realize you had decided to transition, Loki. It would appear to suit you." Her tone made it difficult to tell if she was playing dumb or deliberately misunderstanding why Loki was female.

"I left the X-men, and serve as a reserve Avenger, when they have need of greater numbers. With this unnatural weather, I was an obvious choice to investigate. And I'll be certain to pay your respects to Logan when next I meet him." Swirling winds and her powers left the two women a relatively calm spot in the violent storm, although she was unable to keep them from getting wet.

As Loki explained what she knew, Storm couldn't help but interject. "That's why you should have just let us know who you were. Powerful you may be, but none fear that Loki can lift Mjolnir." It was a dig, but one she felt the need to get in. "And you're here...why, exactly? To stand watch over the hammer that none but your brother can wield? To assist him? I cannot say that I entirely believe you, because you're more than likely someone who would have caused this to happen. Your reputation for trickery precedes you, after all. However, we have a saying here on Midgard, as you put it: trust, but verify. I'll stay here with you, until Thor shows up or the hammer leaves."

All while the pair of women were talking, the weather worsened substantially, and 'Ro's eyes went white, as she began focusing on it. It was too powerful for her to disperse, although she could use it, since it was present. She looked up, barely able to see in the dark. "Is that...a rainbow?"

KRAKATHOOM! a bolt of lightning came crashing to the ground a few feet way from them as the storm raged on the make shift tent set up ripped away and began to blow away. The "rainbow that storm saw was getting bigger and closer until the beam crashed into the middle of the intersection leaving a large circular Norse rune burned into the pavement.

as the storm continued to rage it was obvious that the thing or person traveling the wave of the beam was not, in fact, Thor standing breathing heavily was a large almost 10-foot tall demon with a flaming sword. and two large horns sticking out of the side of his head.. fire ignited from his eyes as he roared.

"FEAR ME MIDGARD FOR I AM SURTER OF MUSPELHIEM... AND I WILL BRING YOU RAGNOROK.!!!

he swung that large sword he held sideways and took out a nearby car before letting out a deep howl as several portals opened and fire demons flooded the streets of Manhattan

For only a moment, Loki wondered why this foolish mortal wouldn't recognize her-- and then, she remembered how she appeared, and it made her smile. 'Transition'? Yes, perhaps it wasn't the norm, Loki's habit of not being only one thing all the time, but it was so ingrained in her nature, that it was hard to keep that in mind for others. Especially a person that just wouldn't know Loki that well, such as Storm of the X-Men. She'd only seen Loki's biggest exploits that were probably televised, and those ones almost always involved her male face.

"Oh, I just... what is the saying? 'Woke up like this', I think. Still. Apology accepted." Loki wasn't that petty. A small misunderstanding was perfectly acceptable. Mortals were dumb.

"And no need to pay my respects to him. I have no respect for any of you to give. X-Men, Avengers, all of you... No better than Thor, riding into battles where you aren't wanted to exact 'justice'. True justice will only come when you all destroy each other, and leave this realm in the hands of someone far more capable." Of course, Loki meant herself.

The weather, though, was also rather distracting. It seemed to be picking up. Was it the hammer? Or was it Thor? And what was... "That is no rainbow. It is a bridge."

And as the Bifrost deposited a menacingly familiar face, Loki recoiled for a moment. Surtur? How in the name of Hel had he gotten on the Bifrost?! Sceptre in hand, Loki looked around, taking in what looked to be a very impromptu invasion. Combining this with the presence of Mjolnir...

"Well. It seems as though my brother started a fight and couldn't finish it. And now Midgard will be burnt to cinders in its own little apocalypse." As she spoke, one of the fire demons took note of the golden horns of Loki, and charged her way, only to be stopped in its tracks as Loki threw a knife into the beastly invader's throat. "Unless Loki, Champion of Trickery, puts a stop to it!" She had mostly forgotten about the presence of the mutant nearby, and instead raised her sceptre, channeling a wealth of pure sorcerous might into the already powerful gem, before pointing it at Surtur himself and sending a blazing green bolt of helfire at his face, purposefully missing. It was just a tactic to get his attention.

"Excuse me! Surtur! I must ask... What do you think you are doing here, O Lord of the Flames of Mighty Muspelheim? You know well enough that thine fight is not yet with these pitiful Midgardians, but with Asgard! The fires of your destruction must first burn that shining city into the finest of ashes, and then lay waste to Midgard... Or are we going off-script? I'm fine with improvisation, but I don't believe I was even invited to the show!"

"Forgive me if I'm feeling... gravely insulted by you overlooking me."

"That must have been an interesting morning," Storm remarked dryly, as Loki gave a non-explanation of her circumstances. She began to bristle as Loki spoke about her friends and teammates. "Not wanted, perhaps. But more capable? Not if you mean the likes of you, Lady of Lies. Humanity has its issues, but we neither require, nor will accept, the tyrannical rule of gods or mad men."

Their argument, however, would have to wait, as the Rainbow Bridge touched down and suddenly fiery, demonic giants emerged from it. "Do you people really have giants for everything? Frost giants, now demon fire giants?" They seemed faster than she would expected from their size, and surprisingly, it was Loki that killed one, a smooth, graceful throw of a knife that happened in a single motion. "If your brother began the fight, then the Avengers will finish it." It was pure bravado on her part, as if the other Avengers were around, they would have responded, although she had seen her share of magical and demonic forces in Africa and with the X-men.

Spreading her arms wide, so her cape would catch the wind, Storm rose up so she wouldn't be within arms reach or caught on the ground. Amusingly, Loki was feigning hurt by this Surtr's actions, because she hadn't been informed. Or it could be genuine. Loki was far too much an unknown quantity for her to even attempt to get a read on. In any case, her stalling was precisely what she needed.

Closing her eyes, she opened herself up to the weather, tasting it, feeling it with her powers. After a few seconds, she had its measure. Not enough to be able to control it, but more than enough for her to use it. Opening her eyes again, there was no color at all to be seen, just pure white. Loki wasn't the only one feeling 'overlooked'. Thor fought these things, and likely used his lightning. Storm's would have to suffice for the time being.

Multiple bolts of lightning coursed down from the sky, striking numerous fire giants. "The Thunderer is not the only defender of Earth that controls lightning, Fire Demons."

Thor

Avengers
As chaos erupted in the streets of NewYork the wind and rain was getting worse the fire demon Surtur took a large long breath and sniffed the air a moment before speaking

"Jotun" turning to glare at Loki he had that large sword up and brung it down crashing down into the pavment.. when your brother is dealt with I will kill you and the rest of the pathetic realms as he lifted that large fire sword up again he swung it hard at Loki trying to squash the small jotun under the blade

shorter was beyond reason it was unclear just how long surtur had been fighting thor but from his hanger, it must have been for an extended period of time and then it happened. a second beam from the Bifrost burned a second run shaped hole in the ground and as the chaos continued the hammer would make its way from its resting spot and flight to its owner's hand which was accompanied by a bolt of lightning that struck several demons in one go a strike that clearly was not of storms making

it had been months sense the odinson stepped foot on Midgard but this was a home more so then Asgard was sometimes. the thunder stepped from the beam and used the strap on the hammer to send it flying toward a demon as he began to literally summon forth bolts from his hands

"I WILL NOT RUN FROM YOU SURTUR... YOU ATTACKED MY HOME AND THEN ESCAPED THROUGH THE BI FROST YOU WILL DIEE HERE TODAY"

thor was without a shadow of a doubt the most boastful avenger as the hammer struck the demon thor summoned it back to his hand and cracked a second on the face it was clear he was more than angry as I began to dismantler what ever semblance of attack for Surtur had but for each demon killed 2 more would come from the portals.

"Excuse you? Did you see me come to you and greet you as 'Fire Giant'? I am Loki Laufeyson--" She was crushed flat under the heavy Twilight Sword of Surtur, leaving no trace behind that a great goddess once stood where there was only a burning dent in the ground... But only because she was standing behind Surtur. "Lie-smith, Maker of Mischief, God of 'Evil', currently Daughter of Odin. I've always respected you, Surtur, but it seems you think me a pest, someone standing in your way, blocking your path... Powerful as you are, Red Lord... you clearly lack vision."

Pointing her scepter at Surtur's demonic kin, Loki sent a wave of chilling spells out, with such frigid cold that their flames were snuffed out along with their lives. They were flash frozen in such a way that their momentum was conserved as they had been running, sending their frozen husks toppling to the ground and shattering. "You come to a land of both fire and ice and all forms of elements, all mingling together. You think that you can dry up the oceans on your own? The damage you'll do today will be minuscule to what the Midgardians are doing to this realm on their own with every passing second. You cannot bring Ragnarok to the Nine Realms on your own, Surtur. I am the key to that, and always will be!"

All a bluff, really. Sure, perhaps Loki had been in moods where death and destruction were a priority above all else, and she wasn't going to put it past herself to try it again. Later. Not not today. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Not anytime soon. There were other plans, other things on the horizon that needed to occur before the Death of the Gods played out.

In fact, the only reason Loki had been talking so much was to distract Surtur away from the stirring of Mjolnir and the coming Bifrost that would certainly be bearing along... the Mighty Thor. Loki gave herself the credit of distracting the fire giant enough that her brother could land a blow.

Throwing her scepter like a spear, Loki impaled a demon that had crept up behind the god of thunder, and then teleported over to the weapon to pry it free of the dying grunt. "Hello, Thor. I found your hammer for you, and I was prepped to clean up your mess. Oh, you want my help you say? Well, I suppose I can chip in for now, since I don't have anything better to do." Looking at the portals, she grinned. "You quench the flames of Surtur, and I'll keep the embers from sparking bigger blazes. No one here is equipped to shut off these portals but me." With that said, Loki tapped the end of her scepter on the ground, and began to prep her counter spell to this magic.
