The modern eras had so many rules, it was of no wonder that people were so stressed as she had been told on multiple occasions. To navigate the era she was a permanent member of the exotic looking beauty had a lot of questions that each had an answer that had to be explained. Questions such as: how does one attain items such as food and clothing this era? The answer was that a person needed to have money. From there she learned about jobs, social security numbers, and birth certificates; all which were things Moon didn't have but could get via other people wishing for her to have them. Though such wishes would probably upset the warrior Thing, she felt this was the only way to repay him and the others for the free food, housing, etc.

"Are there people who wish they had a job?" The former genie was talking to a man who was getting rather handsy which she was constantly trying to move away from.

"Sure sweetheart, heck I'd love a job where I wouldn't have to work hard and get paid a ton of money."

Moon again has to slip away from the man's hands, "What about a job that pays decent, you have to work but you enjoy."

The man let out a roaring laugh, "don't tell me you're one of those that feel like they have to work hard in order to feel fulfilled." The man laughed some more before grabbing the dark haired beauty rather forcefully and pulling her close. Moving has hand along her back he squeezed her butt cheek. "Trust me honey, a woman like yourself won't have to work hard and I know the perfect job for you where you'll find a lot of enjoyment...especially with me." He moved his hands to her front and kissed her neck which caused Moon to start pushing him away with her hands.

"I insist you stop this instant!!"

As far as Loki stood, most men were animals, be they mortal or immortal. Even Loki was not immune to the wants of the flesh; once, the Goddess of Mischief had a wife, and she'd made a good enough husband... But all of his children had mothers and fathers other than Sigyn. Some of those mothers had been mortal, as well, and so various children of Loki wandered the mortal realm, some of them causing trouble, others not being aware of their true natures.

But in all of his years? Loki had only ever used charm in his relations, never force. It had always left him with a bad taste in his mouth, seeing how Thor treated women, always groping and squeezing them, and the poor things either pretended to enjoy the attention or actually didn't mind such attentions from a Prince of Asgard. Sure, Loki even dabbled in using his status as a Son of Odin to impress, but never as an excuse. Not even mortal women could escape the meaty hands of Thor! How many mortal women had the God of Thunder taken as pitiful playthings? There was that nurse, for sure...

At least Loki never lied to herself for long when it came to the relations of gods and men; they weren't made to last, not romantically.

And now... to be wandering the mortal realm as a woman, in the guise of 'Lottie', a fair form that often got what she wanted with little difficulty, and to see a mortal man making an utter nuisance of himself to a woman that was... What was she? She had a feeling about her that Loki could not ignore. Eyes of mischief had been looking around, searching for something to turn into an opportunity for a good time, and Loki's godly senses had stumbled upon her.

She was human, at least in form, but in flavor? Not so much. It wasn't Asgardian, but it was definitely a kind of magic. In any case, Loki deemed that she was much too fine a thing to be tormented by mortal hands.

As such, the raven-haired 'Lottie' that stumbled across this scene whistled loudly to get the male's attention.

"You are biting off more than you can chew, sir," said the disguised Loki, dressed as a mortal woman in a plain green dress and coat. "You should stop now, before you choke."

It was Loki's natural AllSpeak that translated the word 'choke' to actually mean 'choke', while at the same time, it was a very simple curse that Loki spat out at the man. His throat immediately began to constrict in a most painful way, completely cutting off his air. A slow way to kill a man, but Loki liked to watch.

A whistle interrupted the dispute that was happening between the former genie and the man she had been talking to. Trying to get a job legally was going to be harder than what she initially thought. Moon was disappointed in that she wasn't more persuasive while keeping the man far enough away where if he moved to touch her she could have easily avoided him. Such a situation was not going to be mentioned to the warrior Thing; for he could end up so upset that he'd throw her out or abandon her like Ragnarok did.

The man furrowed his brow when the woman spoke but that particular expression soon changed to one of panic with a hint of surprise. The man let go of Moon in order to grasp at his throat as he struggled for air. Due to all the things she was learning under the tutelage of Thing and his group she knew that the man should be held accountable but not like this for this was not how things were done in this era.

Stepping away from the man and toward the dark haired woman Moon bowed her head lightly for she knew the woman was not of Earth. "I thank you...." No that wasn't right. She needed to speak plainly and more abbreviated.

"Thanks for helping me and while this man should face justice it should not be like this." The manner of speech the exotic beauty was used to was so difficult to shed and therefore she slipped quite often. "I do not know where you are from but here they have ways to deal with people like him."

Oh, the woman was kind enough to give thanks? How gracious of her. Not many times was Loki ever thanked for doing what was required. Lots of people tended to insult Loki, saying that their actions were 'too far' or 'wrong' and all kinds of things that were irrelevant. Loki graciously curtsied back at the woman. "You're WELCOME, my lady."

Sure, the woman was also trying to bargain for the man's life. Sure, she was trying to suggest that maybe Loki was acting out of ignorance. Sure, maybe she was soft, weak, not strong enough to admit that a man like this deserved to choke to death. But Loki didn't mind, all because she said 'thank you'. "Oh, these people... They are all like him, really, but they choose to follow certain rules and laws. All arbitrary things, poorly enforced. 'Justice'? It is barely even punishment, I think, what they do to men here. They toss them all together into giant fortresses, protect them from themselves, feed them, even educate them..."

"Oh, sure, they aren't allowed to go back to their families. Oh, sure, they cannot leave. But they can, eventually. And some choose to stay, doing anything they can to go back. That isn't punishment. That is an odd bastardization of Valhalla."
Loki looked past the woman to the man that was still choking. She walked over, kneeling next to him, and put a hand on his chest. "Death, however... That's a good punishment. And a release. For most people of Midgard... They'll never know more than their own sad lives. At least, after death, they might experience something new and meaningful. Even if it is one of the more fiery Hells, like where this man is likely headed."

Standing back up, Loki looked to the woman again. "Foreigners tend to recognize other foreigners. Tell me... Where are you from? Something as fair as you doesn't belong here. Even I do not like this city, but I find it is full of good... opportunities."

"I do not dare to claim that title for myself." Oh, good job Moonchild; a noticeable sigh escaped as the former genie knew she had slipped up. Yet as it turns out her natural manner of speech didn't matter as the stranger recognized Moon as being a foreigner. The term could mean a great many things and so she could only hope that the stranger only thought the way in which she expressed herself as odd.

What really hit a note of recognition for the young looking woman was that the stranger used the term Migard, a term she had only heard Ragnarok use. Was this person from the same place? It was an odd term to use for Earth and no one else but Ragnarok had used it, at least not in her presence. The manner of speech in which the stranger expressed herself though was more modern.

"Still there are those who only wish to do good here that would try and stop you from exacting justice as you see it. I do not claim the same sense of justice to a degree but I am a mere mortal of this world and since I must live in it I find it best to live within it with very little attention drawn to myself." Besides she didn't want to be punished or to the giant fortress the stranger had described.

Yet in the long term Moon knew she was powerless to stop the stranger from strangling the man and to take issue with an unarmed woman doing nothing physically to stop a person from being choked, well certainly the dark haired female wouldn't be blamed for not attacking an obviously superior person.

"I'm from no where but call Earth my home now, and what of you? Where do you hail from? For I have heard the term Midgard used once before."

"Oh, my lady, you're far too kind. Warning a kind stranger that saved you from unwanted advances by slaying the rude beast that would have his way with you about the valiant heroes that would stop her? You've a generous heart." It was gross. The worrying, the warning... Had she not seen what Loki had done?! Was that not impressive enough to make her think that, if such a hero came along, that Loki might be victorious there as she had been now? If she was in a poor mood, that was cause enough to...

But no. Loki wasn't in a foul mood. And it wouldn't be right to return concern with scorn. "You say you're mere mortal... But nothing about my senses make me think that is just what you are. You've a mannerism about you that is clear and present. There are more things in the skies and dirt of Midgard than meek mortal flesh." Slowly, Loki offered her a hand, expecting to be rewarded with a friendly handshake, which Loki could just use as a way of examining her a bit more closely.

"For one... You're visually striking. And for two... You know the word 'Midgard', which I've foolishly said, even as I'm attempting to blend in. Most people just call it 'Earth', but only scholars, those ignorant 'Neo-pagan' fools, and people close to a certain relative of mine really know it. Are you some groupie of the God of Thunder, the Avenger, Thor? A friend of his? A new lover? An old lover? Cast aside, forgotten about? He tends to do that to women."

Sighing lightly the stranger did have a point; the former genie wasn't a mere mortal in the beginning. "I assure you that what I am now is what I have told you, I am mortal. Yet just as I know how you are dealing with that man is not something that is within this realm. I have noticed much and though I am still learning I am quite certain that you have magic of some sort under your command." Or maybe it was mysticism but there was something about the stranger that wasn't like the warrior Thing or his family. Also there was much to be said about those who used magic; sometimes they were drawn to each other. Perhaps as a magic user herself Moon had either drawn the dark haired stranger to her or perhaps it was the other way around.

Moon was taken aback by the compliment as no one had ever called her visually striking. She was speechless for a while unable to communicate out of the shock that was delivered to her head. "Uh...th-thank you." Shaking her head trying to erase the embarrassing moment she continued, "Groupie? I know of Ragnarok and I am respectful of all warriors. In my eyes warriors are to be followed but not blindly like a fool would and I am currently no one's lover." There was no need to share that she was saving herself for a male warrior and so far none had even tried to have sexual relations with her.

There was a fair amount of dissatisfaction on Loki's face at the woman's insistence at just being mortal. She didn't talk like a person born in this century! She was still 'learning'? Perhaps the vast majority of idiots in Midgard didn't recognize or weren't willing to admit that a God walked among them on Loki's bolder days, but this woman seemed to be wanting to pull the wool over a trickster's eyes... Either inadvertently, or purposefully. As if she had something to hide, or was reluctant to admit something. "Simple sorcery, is all. A minor trick, making someone choke to death, surprisingly. A human could learn it."

She was forthcoming with the other information, however. Ragnarok. Loki knew of an abomination that mortal science had created, a bastardization of his brother. It was amusing. He hadn't seen or heard from the contraption, however, probably for the better. "Ah... You ran into a foolish creature, dear. A mockery of real power. Ragnarok? A mere... imitation of my brother, Thor. God of Thunder. And he pales in comparison to me." It seemed the goddess had struck a nice chord in the beauty, as she seemed pleasantly embarrassed.

"Warriors... are tools. Sometimes, they help win fights, battles, wars... But they are not meant to be followed for that and that alone. Even one that can say the right thing at the right time, the one that can gain the people's favor through 'brave' acts of violence... They will never rise above their station as an instrument, for they lack true direction. That is why you cannot even follow them if you have foresight, let alone being blind."

Loki bowed at the waist. "Allow me to introduce myself. I have fought alongside warriors of all manners, won my own fights, my own battles, my own wars. I have felled enemies for causes of my own and beyond my own. But I am no warrior. I am a sorcerer. I am a philosopher, an artist. A thinker. Future king of this world. I am Loki, God of Mischief. Goddess, today, and other days, when I feel like it."

"Now, beauty, tell me what I'm to call you."

Was Loki trying her best to come across as pleasant to this woman? Yes. Why? Well... she was good looking. And mysterious. And while Loki was quite good at using tricks and deception to gain favor from people, she wasn't that great at winning them over while being herself. If she could manage that?

Then that would be grand.

Moon wasn’t at all interested in sorcery but didn’t show it, her face remained emotionless. The exotic looking female was only comfortable with her own abilities, the scope of which could be vast far more than what she used but preferred not to.

Thor was a name she was familiar with, along with Odin and others. When she was a genie such knowledge was within her realm due to a certain master but she didn’t know everything.

Raising her face to where her nose was slightly raised for a moment she pressed her lips. “Think what you want of warriors and I shall do likewise.”

Moon wasn’t exactly surprised after that long introduction of the name that was given: Loki. Now she knew she was definitely in trouble. Yet it would be more than obvious if she ran especially now and even if she ran there was no doubt she’d be caught. So she’d continue the conversation, it was a rather pleasant one.

Lowering her head slightly she lightly bent her knees, “I’m Moonchild.” Rising back up she was only willing to show what was once considered proper but she would not bow down to her/him. The brunette also knew she wouldn't be alone regarding Loki's declaration of being the future king. Kings no longer existed and even if Loki succeeded in his plan to be the ruler of the Earth people would rebel.

Oh? It seemed that somehow Loki had both perhaps slightly offended and also scared the woman she was talking to. That was upsetting. She held her head up high, defying the absolute truth that the goddess had laid out for her. How... common of her. For a woman of uncommon looks, it seemed her mind wasn't as elevated as Loki had hoped. Perhaps she truly was of Midgard. Comely women abound, but rare few of truly exceptional intellect and viewpoints. Still... her name. Moonchild. He hadn't heard a name like that from a simple Midgardian in ages. The time of directly naming your children after things and ideas was long passed, and yet here she was, declaring herself a child of the Moon itself?

"I've never had a chance to know well any true child of Mani... But, I wouldn't be surprised if the Old Man of the Moon ever had a child as fair as you. Still, Moonchild, for all your talk of being of Midgard... you do not fully deceive me. I am, after all, a great deceiver myself." Loki took a few steps closer to her. She tried to keep up the charm, but the fear she was sensing... Or was it just apprehension? It was... offensive. How could someone still fear Loki after her heroic action of slaying so bold a molester? Loki felt a growing impatience in her chest.

"You're no child of any Moon I know... But there are many moons, aren't there? Is there a moon that rises in the... east, perhaps, that you could blame your beauty on?" Loki wore a thin smile on her lips, her voice deepening in a manner that could, perhaps, give Moonchild a reason to want to flee. But she definitely knew that the chances of being caught were higher than escape.

"Contrary to what may be believed... I've wandered farther than the northern regions of Midgard. Your appearance reminds me of people who lived farther south. People who wandered the sands. People who started the more... common civilizations of Midgard that are still known to people today. Tell me, Moonchild, and do not without your truth; you may be mortal now, but have you always been so?"

While she appreciated the flattery there was now a part of her wondered if it was true or of Loki was simply stating such things in order to be in favor with her. If so why? Moon wasn't anyone of any importance and with the warrior Thing gone she wasn't sure what to do. Though she assured him that she would find employment and continue to improve her manner of speaking as to blend in and that her choices in clothing would reflect the common era she still couldn't help the feeling of abandonment. First the person who freed her apparently abandoned her then Ragnarok and now Thing. If she was so fair then why did no one want her and why would they all leave her? Perhaps she would be like a nun, holding onto chastity for a lifetime yet without a vow of doing so.

Moon understood the confusion as many men in the past had the phrase son added to indicate they were the son of a particular person: like Thor Odinson was the son of Odin. "I am truly sorry for any confusion I caused when introducing myself. I was not making any sort of attempt to deceive you. I am not a child of Mani or of any moon, Moonchild is the name I was given to refer myself to when asked. I have never been given any other name nor given any title so I could only give you the one." She truly was sorry for any confusion as Loki would be able to tell in the way she spoke, the tones and inflections used added to her verbal apology.

The fact that Loki closed the distance between them didn't escape the former genie's attention but she would remain no matter how much her body screamed to run for surely to run would be the absolute worse thing to do. The deepened voice caused her to flinch a little but she would remain, determined to do so. Yet for what reason Moon didn't know. Her mind couldn't think clearly and instead focused on what was being said.

Ah, the question of mortality. It was only a matter of time before Loki asked it. "No. I have not always been a mortal and there is no moon to which I can blame for any beauty I posses. Though I fail to see it for if I truly had beauty I would have been bedded by now though I am determined to only give myself to a man that I desire...I haven't been bedded at all. Instead my body has been touched by an idiotic boy who believes he should take what is not being offered to him. And yes I realize that this..." Not being able to come up with anything better to call it Moon simply called it what it could be referred to in the common world. "rant is irrational and rather silly. Lower than silly really but it is my rant and how I feel and though I may be judged by it so be it." Her voice became that of anger and bitterness but not toward Loki.

She looked right at Loki. Fine so she/he wanted the truth. May as well tell someone and she was just angry enough to let it slip out. "You desire to know what sort of being that I used to be and still am in a manner. To who I should blame for my knowledge and 'beauty.' So be it, I am a freed Genie."

It seemed that one emerging theory had to be cast aside. The feeling Loki got wasn't because this was some demigoddess from the east, a daughter of a moon deity. Her name wasn't meant to be taken literally, unlike her name of 'Laufeyson' that marked her as the son of Laufey, King of the Frost Giants. Mortal names... he preferred those that took their names and families seriously, rather than wholly symbolic.

"A splendid name to give yourself, regardless... Titles are earned, rarely chosen, same as names, but those that we could give ourselves... Well. Some might be tainted with hubris. But you truly do shine, like the moon." Loki's thin smile grew. "And so gently curved, as well..." Loki wouldn't say she was going so far as to 'flirt'. If the Goddess of Lies wanted to completely charm a woman from the start, she'd go for a more conventionally handsome and male face. But charm wasn't limited to one gender; Loki wanted this beauty's friendship, first, before trying to play with her heart.

Or would that be the faster route? "Is that why you speak highly of warriors? Do you think that you could only give yourself to a person like that? Someone of strength? Even the most extraordinary brute this realm or any could produce wouldn't be worthy of someone like you." Loki chuckled, and put her hands on her own hips. "Such desires aren't silly. I cannot judge a woman for wanting to feel the touch of a man. Some men are worth it... But not a warrior. Not for me, at least. Among any mortal that has lived and breathed on Midgard, warriors do not touch the flesh of Loki and enjoy the pleasures it can bring. For as I said, warriors are tools. Instruments of war, battle, destruction. Not happiness and creation. Life. Warriors beget more warriors... True beauty shouldn't be wasted on the perpetuation of conflict. Perhaps for the continuation of a line of philosopher kings... but not simple bloodshed."

"To know that you are a genie, too? Freed or otherwise, you are a precious being. Rare, as far as I'm aware, too."
Loki rubbed her chin in thought.

"Know this, Moonchild... You've done nothing at all to cause me to view you in an ill light. In fact? I continue to be fascinated with you, despite now knowing what you are, as I'm still not privy to knowing who you are. So, if you'd be so kind to find it in your heart to not so... fearful of a Goddess of Evil, I wouldn't mind it if we simply shared an evening together. Two women, in a city that never slumbers? Perhaps we could just have... fun. And, you've my word that I won't kill anyone. Else."

"No, I don't believe that they are the only ones I can give myself to but they are the type I want to give myself to." If she honestly wanted to be easy she was certain that simply opening up her legs would attract a man faster than the speed of light. "Perhaps I have not been with a man that I desire due to the simple fact I do not open my legs freely. Though I'm not against ones who do, for a man to bed me he has to earn it." She didn't expect for a guy that she'd be into to settle down or anything of the sort. In fact that was something she didn't want if it involved having children. Those that she knew had chosen a mortal life in order to mate and reproduce and as such they lost their powers. It was a rather sad reason to become mortal and on top of that the loss of power made Moonchild feel like shaking her head in a displeased way. She was not going to populate the world, she just wanted freedom and it was granted to her.

"I will not continue any line warrior or philosopher. I choose to keep my powers and as such I cannot reproduce unless I throw them to the side as others who had their freedom granted have done. Not I, I only desired to no longer be a tool, a mindless parrot repeating the same phrase over and over."

A simple nod to indicate that what Loki said about her being rare was true, her kind were few and the numbers had dwindled a great deal. From what she had learned genies were myths along with Jinns/Dijinns, which were evil and scared her.

She had to admit that traveling alone didn't seem to be wise as the few times she had trouble followed and so the exotic looking beauty nodded. "I must admit traveling the city for fun is intriguing and it seems that when I travel alone that situations like the one you saved me from happen in various forms as I have needed saving on other occasions. So I will do what I can to displace my fears and be your travel companion for the night."

"Great! It shall be nice to have company." Loki didn't ultimately despise people. She thought that most people were beneath her. Even this creature, as pretty as she was, wasn't an equal for the Goddess of Mischief. Few mortals equaled or even rivaled her own intellect; only other gods could match or surpass Loki in physical strength, which wasn't as important; and Loki boastfully believed that only the All-Father himself had more raw magical might and knowledge.

But just because someone was beneath you, or lesser, it didn't mean that, if they weren't so blandly boring as many Midgardians were, consumed by vapid obsessions as they always had been since Loki had ever known of humanity and long before... Well. Then Loki wasn't afraid to be friendly to them. There was a difference between cold indifference to their short, pitiful lives and pure malicious intent.

Offering her arm to Moonchild, Loki gestured out at the street, and started walking that way regardless of if her new, possibly temporary friend took the offered limb or not. "So, what have you been out here looking for? Some warrior to take your maidenhood? Or are you just exploring, like me?" Loki's eyes glanced around as she walked. "I have been to this city many times. Sometimes, to conquer. Other times? Just to spread mischief and mayhem so as to cause trouble for the 'warriors' that plague it. Sometimes it goes ill for me, but on occasion I do succeed. In all this time, I've grown... somewhat familiar with the layout. I know the Isle of Manhattan better than the many other sections of the New York City, seeing as how, in my opinion, it is the most... well."

Loki laughed, looking at some of the taller buildings. "I wouldn't use the word... 'spectacular'. Maybe just 'moderately impressive', seeing as how I remember when people lived in huts made of stone, rocks, mud, and plant material. Now, it is mostly stone and metal, everywhere you look. They catch up to the gods they forgot about... but they still lag so far behind."

"Have you been here long? I usually assume that Midgardians to be young, but on the rare occasion there's one that isn't so infantile in age."

It was automatic to take Loki's arm and natural, which only expounded on how long ago Moonchild had been out of her lamp. Now that the former genie was ultimately free there were many customs she hadn't learned and others she practiced like contracting words.

Falling into step with Loki to who-knows-where Moon looked where Loki had gestured only to see the street but soon the gesture was explained. "I was looking for someone to make a wish for me as I cannot grant my own. I was hoping for that man you saved me from would wish that I would have a job that was enjoyable. One that would afford me a place of my own for I cannot stay where I have been any longer. Also I no longer wish to rely on the hospitality of others, I want to stand on my own but I do not have sufficient experience for anything further than what is called 'Fast Food' restaurants here. Perhaps I should accept that as my fate....." Though it was pretty obvious that Moon didn't want to work at a place like that. "Besides I need a social security number and birth certificate, things I do not have and therefore would need someone to wish for me to have. So I thought that by having someone wish for me a job then I'd grant it and I would not need those other things."

Hazel colored eyes gazed upon the tall building and laughed lightly with a nod. "I recall such times as well and it is amazing how much humans have advanced. As they try to catch up to the gods there are many who believe they do not exist and so many rest their faith upon themselves. With man and woman alike being flawed I find it humorous that they rely so heavily upon such discoveries when a great many of their scientists disagree."

Looking quizzically at Loki the exotic beauty wasn't sure how to answer that last question. "On Earth as a mortal or in existence? If it is the latter I'm unsure of how long it was from the origin point to when I was first summoned by a human. The first human to find my lamp was a man who wore an almost mauve colored outer garment that was was tasseled at the bottom and a simple brown sash around the midsection."
