Kate had driven her Soul over to Avengers Mansion because she had gotten a call from there. Being Clint's...partner? successor? possibly maybe love interest but way too young? she wasn't a stranger to the place. But to her astonishment, it wasn't Clint that had called her. It was instead Captain Marvel. While Kate had a love/hate relationship with her mentor, things with the other Avengers were more and less complicated. She didn't really get along with Cap, since it had been him that kept trying to get the Young Avengers to quit. He hadn't been successful, but the team had since broken up, so maybe he'd gotten his wish in the end. Same thing with Iron Man, who had once tried to shut them, forcibly. The spiel that it was a disembodied tecnhopath in an old IM armor had sounded like nonsense to her then, and it still made her bulls&^% sense tingle. But she hadn't really had any interaction with Carol Danvers. Maybe as a woman, she was more reasonable than the guys were. She drove through the gate and hopped out, not in costume, but just a purple sweater and black jeans. She saw the knowing look on Jarvis' face. "So I like to color coordinate." "Right this way, Ms. Bishop." "Not Hawkeye? Or Hawkingbird?" She challenged him, not sure if he didn't like her or not. Why was she arguing with the help, anyway? Its not like it mattered. "Only when you're in costume, Ms. Bishop. Then you're Hawkeye." "Oh. Jarvis, I-I'm..." "Nervous. It's fine, Ms. Bishop." He led her into what she imagined was called the salon or drawing room or some other equally ancient and arcane term for the room Captain Marvel was in. "Would you like something to drink, ladies?" "Lime sparkling water? Thanks." She looked to where Carol Danvers was seated. "You, uh, wanted to talk to me?" |

Carol was sitting on one of the nice antique sofas she wore a nice mens dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up it looked like the shirt it self retailed for more money that it realistically should... wonder where she got that from. the rest was a pair of jeans and a pair of womens tennis shoes. On the table in the middle of the room was a long black case that would be familar to kate it held a weapon. "hey kate..thanks jarvis..she smiled and looked to kate again before clicking the snaps on the case and opening it. "so we actually called you because the avengers are recruiting. Activity has been in a lul so we have merged the teams again are spending more time being a team..im just gonna come out and say it. we want you on the team. |

It was...odd, to see Captain Marvel out of her costume. At least for Kate. Not to mention, wearing what she could only assume to be her boyfriend's shirt, since she looked like a girl playing dress up more than anything else. Aside from that, though, she looked pretty no nonsense, like she was ready to handle a Skrull invasion or Galactus or whatever. "Is that what I think it is?" Kate asked with a little trepidation, having a pretty good idea of exactly what was on the table. Her thoughts were confirmed when Carol opened it, and she got a look inside. Clint's bow. And not one of the regular ones. The new one, which looked kinda mechanical. She looked back at Carol, meeting her eyes. "Recruiting? Me? Really?!" She looked back at the bow, still in its case. "I thought you called me because you wanted me to quit, too. Like Captain America and Iron Man tried to do." She picked up the bow, knew its pull was likely heavier than hers. But the design itself would compensate for that, she bet. Easier for her to use. "Where's Barton, anyway? He didn't tell me anything before he just kinda vanished. What if he comes back? Am I off the team? I mean, no team ever needed two Hawkeyes." "And you guys have all known him for a lot longer than me...oh. That explains it. You want me because you know him so well and you'd rather have me instead. If that's the case, I guess I accept." She switched the bow to her left hand, and stuck out her right to shake on it. "Soooooo. This means I get his stuff, right? Like all the explodey arrows and the flying motorcycle?" |

”think you can handle it? ” She laughed a little bit at kate and smiled watching her check out the new peice of equipment. She rested her chin in her palm and watched kate for a second.before speaking again. ”no team ever needed one hawkeye… Pretending to need that guy really brings the team together. Carol said with a smirk and winking to the younger female. ” its yours if you want the job.” when kate mentioned clint she grew quiet a moment. Before speaking he stepped away from kate and looked toward the window. “clint i think for the time is done with the hero thing he needs some time for his family.we do all miss him. turning again watched kate “you get all of that but you gotta wear the pointy mask. |

Kate arched an eyebrow and crossed her arms, her non-verbal response to whether or not she could handle it. She had a smart @$$ answer in mind, but a little voice told her that maybe she should become part of the team before she started giving her new teammates crap. She put on what she thought of as her 'confident face' and spoke up. "Yeah. Yeah, I think I can." She felt a flutter in her stomach, realizing that she had just said 'yes' to being an Avenger. Her face softened, becoming uncertain again. "Can I ask a favor? A really big one?" While Kate had looked like a confident young woman before, now she looked much more like a nervous teenager again. "If I screw up, tell me?" It was an odd position for her to be in; she had led the Young Avengers for two off and on years of the team being active. She had never wanted to lead them, it had somehow just sorta happened, and she suddenly had people looking at her for the answers. Now she was back to being the New Girl, and the Replacement Girl at that. At least she wasn't Rebound Girl at the same time for anyone. She didn't know if she could handle anymore capitalized titles. "Tell me about it. Barton is a mess who can't figure out his own life and has dragged me into it, kicking and screaming. But he was my mess and I miss him." When she said that Clint was her mess it was with a strange tone. Not possessive or romantic, exactly, but hinted at something more than just her having the same gear and code name. "No can do on the pointy mask. It screws up my hair. I'd like to know how the hell your hair looks OK after you wear that dorky helmet thing. Is that some kinda Kree power? Anyways, its the shades or maybe one of those party masks around the eyes." |

She laughed hole heartedly at the question about the hair reaching up with both hands and running her hands through her long undone hair. she looked at kate and smiled "there are three secrets every female member of the avengers knows 1.) find a hair dresser who can work magic with your hair because it will get shot, burned, cut and ripped. 2.) conditioner, conditioner will become your friend and 3.) if you have time after battle. wash it.every time.... and leave my helmet alone She nodded at the girl and stepped toward the door."lets get you set up" She walked toward the elevator toward the rest of the mansion where the avengers did there work. |

Kate patted her own hair protectively as Carol told her the Avenger 'secrets'. Why didn't Mr. Billionaire Philanthropist Playboy just science something to keep their hair safe into being? She resolved to ask him later, when she saw him. As Captain Marvel walked off, leading Kate to other parts of the Mansion, she hurried to keep up. She'd had a recent growth spurt, gaining two inches right before she turned eighteen, but Carol was still taller and had longer legs. "So hey. Getting Barton's bow, does that mean I get his dorky flying bike? Uh, what's the technical dork name...his 'atomic steed'? It would help trying to keep up with all the flyers and stuff. Oh, and do I get QuinJet lessons too? Is eighteen even old enough to have my pilot's license?" Kate was babbling, partly because she didn't like the silence and partly because of her nerves. This wasn't a dream. It was really happening. She had been asked to join the Avengers(taking Clint's spot, no less!) and she'd accepted. "So, is there like, any paperwork I have to sign? Like waivers or something? The YA, we were unofficial, but you guys are the real thing. And when can I get my stuff moved into here? I've gotta go pack..." She wondered if she was getting the Grand Tour or getting an introduction to the other Avengers. She wished she was wearing her costume. They wouldn't kick her off the team for that right away, would they? Ten demerits, Bishop. You're off the team! Kate repressed a giggle, and shrugged at carol when the other woman looked at her. |

As she walked she rolled her eyes a bit and couldnt help but luagh, She was not looking forward to having this conversation with kamala when the time came. "everyone is away on assignment at the moment so it just me and moon knight around right now. hese off keeping the people of newyork safe. shiting Carol walked deeper into the depths of the mansion not entirely answeing any of kates questions. it would be obvious that she was going to test the new recruit. She stopped at a large door and held up an avengers id card. the nifty peice of tech was more then a standard id card. the halogram image of kate was on the front she handed the card to the teenager. and waved to the card reader on the door. "its the armory...you can take what ever armaments your little violet heart desires. carol leaned next to the door with her arms crossed while kate looked through the armory. "pick out something nice we are going hunting" Carol walked behind her after she entered shifting instantly into her captain marvel suit and headed toward the guns. taking a black holster and black leather jacket from the near by wall strapping the thigh holster to her belt and putting the jacket on over her suit. "alright so listen up kate.. me and moonknight have been fallowing a human trafficking ring for months.. we found their hideout in a warehouse in the harbor. since this is like a -4 on the captain marvel scale its your op It had been a long time since she actually had to get geard up, walking over she picked up a simple black 9mm hand gun pulled back the slide to make sure the breach was clear before putting the gun in the holster. and picking up a few of the magazines. and a lazer for the under barrel rail system. "dont worry about sneaking around or being quiet, we kick in the front door and take em out.[/COLOR] Kate was seeing for the first time carol as the threat she was before the accident that gave her, her powers. |

"Just you and Moon Knight? So, like, what if, I dunno, Kang shows up? Or Magneto or something?" Kate privately wondered just how much Avenger-ing that Carol and MK got done when they were together anyway. She was pretty sure that they were an item, and while Moon Knight might have a secret identity to protect, Captain Marvel didn't. How was that supposed to work? She felt a little annoyed by her relative silence, how she was talking but not saying anything. When the Avengers ID card was handed to her, Kate's heart raced a little. This is really happening. This is really happening. She took a look at the image and frowned. "We can retake the picture another time, right? I take better one shot selfies than this. Where did you guys even get my picture, anyway?! Was this from my yearbook at the academy?" Before she could further vent about the picture, a heavily armored door whisked open, making a noise like something off Star Trek, and she was looking at all kinds of things. "The Armory," she echoed, using Carol's word for it. A bit different from the storage room at her father's old building that the YA had used to keep all their crap in. She walked in, looking at a variety of things she couldn't even begin to wonder at. Alien weapons. A Chitauri blast-staff thingy. Some kinda Kree bracelet. Pym particle canisters. The Swordsman's trick sword. More gimmick arrows than she could see. When Carol told her to grab some stuff, her eyes went wide. "Really? My first day? Is this gonna be like Training Day?" She did a reasonable Carol impression. "'Is Captain Marvel gonna have to choke a $#^%$?!'" Then she saw Carol getting dressed, and not in her blue and red costume. That was sorta relieving, because Kate would have been embarrassed to go out with her dressed like that. She slipped out of her shoes, which had been sensible flats but not really at all practical for a fight, and checked a few pairs of trainers before tying a pair one. She wasn't really dressed for it, but jeans were fine, and she took a beta cloth shirt and put it on over her own. Close enough. She grabbed two quivers, tossed in a bunch of arrows, and then looked at the Swordsman's blade again. Carol didn't say 'no' or anything, so Kate grabbed the swordbelt and tightened it. The smallest hole in the belt still left it hanging low on her hip, but not in the way. "Yeah, OK. Let's do this." |

When she was ready carol headed toward the door, adjusting the jacket and the holster, over her uniform she was making the new girl sweat it out a little, sometimes she just turn the "colonel" off As they walked carol half smirked at kate using the swordsmen's weapon, which she had assumed been passed down to clint, and now kate. "you know which end to hold right?" when they entered the hanger the overhead lights came on as they walked down the aisle with various vehicles finally stopping at a gun jet she nodded at kate to try and board it using her ident card. the jet itself would do the work. " gotta love tonys tech" |

Kate hurried behind Carol, trying to get everything sorta, the quivers and scabbard strapped down, so there was a minimum of hanging and banging, and less to trip on. She resisted the urge to stick out her tongue at Carol, thinking it maybe wasn't so befitting an Avenger, even if she was Hawkeye. "Yeah. Stick 'em with the pointy end." Naturally, Kate was a Game of Thrones fan, and Arya and Sansa Stark's stories mirrored her own, to a slight extent. Easy for her to identify with, even more so because her life had gone way, way out of control ever since she had stated doing the superhero thing. "So normally there's, like, a briefing and mission prep and stuff? Its not all cowboy stuff like this, right?" She was feeling a little overwhelmed, first an Avenger, now about to step onto a QuinJet to go do something about drug dealers. Kate held up her IdentiCard and the jet allowed her to board. Seeing the look on Carol's face and knowing that Captain Marvel was a fly by the seat of her pants, what's a plan? type superhero, she all but threw herself into the chair and belted in. "I don't see why we couldn't have taken the Skycycle and you could've flown there too." |

Carol just chuckled a little as she strolled, coming to the bay area she hit a button in her com system behind her ear and one of the many many quinn jets light up and powered on. "we arent taking the skycycle because you are flying us there in the quinn jet." as the cargo bay door opened carol stepped into it and sat in the passenger seat strapping in in the copilot seat waving her toward the pilot seat. smiling at her. carol knew that kate would definatly be nerveous about flying a multibillion dollar peice of equipment But rolling with carol as a co pilot would be easy carol could bail them out of anything. |

Kate's eyes became huge saucers as she turned to look at Carol. "HOW am I supposed to fly us there? I've never flown anything before! I just thought the Skycycle might be better cuz its easy enough that even Clint could operate it. He said it was just like riding a bike, and I've done that." Feeling intense pressure and with her stomach lurching, she stepped into the QuinJet and sat down beside Carol. "I don't know what any of these buttons do! I don't even play Flight Simulator!" With pleading eyes, she looked at her. "Young Avengers. I was the only one with any money. We drove around in my car, we didn't have flying members, and no flying jets!" She was breathing heavily and felt anything but in control right now, like she had been told she was having swimming lessons and just been kicked into the deep end of the pool right away. "I don't think I'm ready for flying lessons yet. Cuz if I fly us, we aren't gonna get there, and we ARE gonna crash." Was she hyperventilating? She wasn't sure but she knew it didn't feel right either. Maybe a panic attack? She had them occasionally, but usually not quite so badly as this. Hawkeye was paralyzed at the controls and waited for Carol to take over. |

Carol chuckled and shook her head and turned to face the controls, pressing a few buttons on the console the VTOL jets began to lift up and out of the hanger bay. when they passed the clearance and up into the night sky she pulled back the seat and looked at kate "see that red toggle switch to your side, press it that will switch the VTOL jets into there flight mode" carol was relaxed keeping a hand on the stick while instructing the young avenger "you know that flight controls are the inverse right.. if you remember that we will be just fine. she smiled and winked and kate "im not gonna let you crash my plane kateniss |

Kate took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself down a little. She was so flustered that she hadn't even noticed that Carol had called her 'Kateniss'. As the QuinJet rose smoothly into the air, and moved forward she felt reassured that Carol knew how to fly it, then felt stupid because she knew that she had been a pilot. A real one, like in the Air Force. "Inverse? OH. You mean like in Independence Day where the controls weren't right." Not yet engaging the flight mode, she experimented a little with the controls, the nose of the QuinJet sharply rising and then going back down. "That's going to take some getting used to." Taking another deep breath, she exhaled noisily, then nervously reached out for the button. "Does this thing park itself? You know it took me three tries to get my license. I can't parallel park for anything." She hit the button, half-expecting it to be like the movies where she would be pushed back into her seat. The QuinJet began building speed steadily but as she flew it, she looked over at Carol again. "OK, how does this thing go faster?" |
