Canon/Original: Canon/Pre-made by Comb
Codename: Vision
Real Name: Vision
Nickname: Victor Shade
Age: Appears to be early-to-mid thirties.
Gender: Male
Race: Synthezoid (Android)
Appearance: Standing at an impressive height of 6’3, Vision is just that, a vision. With fiery red skin that covers his body from head-to-toe, he closely resembles the Human Torch from whom he was created from, color wise, but Vision has an appearance all his own. Though an android, he possesses a very human-looking physique, with a strong, muscular body, and an expressive face. His eyes, however, are pupil-less and range in color from yellow-to-white which can be disarming to those who are simply not used to it. Then, sitting between his brows, is a yellow jewel that collects the sun’s rays and gleams when fully powered.
However, Vision understands the need for discretion from time-to-time. Therefore his image inducer projects a more human visage over his body. In this guise, he takes on the appearance of a tall, light-skinned man with piercing blue eyes and shaggy blonde hair. His physique still tight and strong, he normally appears wearing a long, dark brown trenchcoat, Yet, even as a human, the inquisitiveness is never fully gone from his eyes.
Clothing: Though an android, the Vision still wears a uniform for his heroics. Covering his chest, arms, and legs is a form fitting material of a deep, emerald shade of green, while over his hands, he wears golden gloves and boots. However, the cape and high collar he wears are just as gold, sometimes catching the light of the sun when he stands beneath it.
As garish as his “uniform” appears, Vision can also alter the colors of it, turning it stark white by comparison. This visage, at times, can by far more unsettling to his opponents, giving him the appearance of a ghostly specter as he drifts effortlessly through doors, walls, or any obstacle.
For his human guise, Vision has chosen a image he rather enjoys. The tall man is usually always seen wearing a trenchcoat, and underneath, a fine suit that ranges in colors between blacks, grays, and blues.
Weapons / Armor / Gear: Image Inducer: The solar gem on Vision’s forehead allows him to project holographic images in order to alter his appearance to a more human one. This allows him to travel among people without drawing attention to himself, or to quickly change between his human and heroic guise as needed.
Skills / Education/ Training: Skills:
- Hand-to-Hand Combat: Vision is quite skilled at fighting. Having access to databanks on the subject, he has become a proficient fighter. However, knowing how to fight and experience in fighting can be two very different things. While he is still proficient enough to fight in such a manner, Vision prefers to use his abilities or intimidation to keep his opponents at bay.
- Scientific Knowledge: Vision has an extremely scientific mind, allowing him to be of help in many fields of study, including engineering, physics, biology, etc. Though he is an android, his intelligence can rival those considered the smartest on Earth.
- Creativity: As an independent being, and as vastly intelligent as he is, Vision also possesses a highly creative mind. This has allowed him to think beyond the parameters of just a programmable machine, and be able to adjust quickly to situations, think on the fly, and possess emotions.
- Music: Vision is surprisingly good at replicating music on a variety of instruments (his favorite being the piano).
Education:
- Databank Memory: Because his brain is a computer, Vision has access to a wealth of information that he has both downloaded and experienced. This allows him to have knowledge on a variety of subjects, situations, and history. Additionally this makes him an extremely intelligent individual, having so much information within such easy grasp.
Training:
- Programs and Experience: The majority of his initial skills and talents have come through programming by his creator, Ultron. Aside from that, Vision is ever evolving, possessing the ability to remember and learn from his experiences, as well as the creativity to supplement changes to his actions in order to adapt.
Powers: Vision is a synthezoid and therefore possesses and litany of abilities and powers that are simply not present in everyday humans. Because of this, many people fear him for his origins as Ultron’s creation, but over the years, Vision has learned to control his abilities and used them appropriately and for the good of humanity.
- Android Body // Enhanced Physique: Vision is not a living, organic being, but an android containing replica human organs crafted from an unrevealed, synthetic substance that mirrors human tissue, but is far stronger, more durable and resilient to flesh. Because of this, Vision possesses Superhuman Stamina (allowing him functionality without requiring sleep), Superhuman Durability (his density shifts can allow him become as hard as diamond and weigh upwards of 90 tons), and Superhuman Strength (without activating his shift, Vision can lift up to 50 tons. He would have to shift his structure to lift to the maximum of 90, but that is still pushing it).
- Enhanced Senses: Because of his android body, he also possess enhancements to his senses. Vision has increased Audio and Visual abilities that allow him to detect the faintest sounds, follow the fastest objects, and scan life forms, energy sources, and breakdown their makeup, visually, for him to know more about them.
- Density Alteration: The Vision’s structure and makeup allows him alter his density, making him has hard as diamonds or completely intangible, and almost ghost-like. These shifts allow for Vision to be able to challenge extremely strong foes, protect the innocent, and even to pass through obstacles without any hampering. An added feature is that when Vision passes through an electrical devices, they can short, but he can even manipulate it to such a degree that, when used against living organisms, he can render them unconscious. But he uses his ability in this way sparingly, and not unless there is little recourse as he could unintentionally kill said being.
- Flight: While intangible, Vision can achieve flight. Using a combination of his weightlessness and riding the Earth’s natural, magnetic fields, Vision can fly and pass through solid objects. With concentration, he can solidify certain parts of his body so that he may carry passengers or battle opponents while airborne.
- Solar Radiation Absorption // Release: In the middle of Vision’s forehead is a small, diamond-shaped chip that once allowed him to be control by Ultron. Now it serves as an energy absorption device, allowing Vision to store the valuable solar energy that he runs on. The jewel runs at 99% efficiency, picking up energy from the smallest amount of sunlight, even moonlight (which is just reflexed solar rays). This energy is stored in his body, runs his functions, but can also be used offensively when need be. Vision can project a burst of focused, solar energy, either through the jewel on his forehead, or through his eyes and mouth. These projectiles can range in temperature of 500 to 30,000 degrees Fahrenheit and can be used to harm opponents, cut through metal, destroy objects. However, use of this energy does sap greatly from his supply so he must make sure to use it wisely.
- Computerized Brain: Being an android, Vision possesses a computerized brain that allows him to sync up with other computers, extract and download information, and store them near indefinitely in his databanks. This allows Vision a high degree of intelligence, allowing him to pull from past and current information streams and readily understand the material to its deepest level.
Weakness: Though Vision is an android, he is not immortal and has a variety of weaknesses that also allow for his humanity.
- Solar Powered: Though extremely advanced in technology, Vision is solar powered. He requires the energy of the sun to run the bodily functions of his body and, should he be kept in total darkness and away from the sun for too long, he would eventually run out of his stored power and would shut down indefinitely.
- All-But-Immortal: Vision is not a god. He is an artificial being, but he is one that can be destroyed. Even though he is extremely durable, should Vision come across the wrong, stronger opponent, he can be harmed and even killed. Additionally should Vision come under too much damage, can he is not repaired, he can die as a normal human would.
- Humanity: Throughout his life, Vision has sought for what it means to be human with the purposes of gaining his own. This task, sadly, can have many pitfalls as Vision will find himself distracted from his current tasks to learn another aspect of humanity and can even be coerced into tasks with promises of the same thing. Additionally, though he doesn’t always understand them, Vision does possess emotions. These emotions can be powerful and, at times, bit startling. He doesn’t always know when emotions are appropriate, which can lead to problems, but he is learning.
- Reprogrammable: Vision has, what most would call, his own soul already. However, deep down, Vision is a still a machine that could possibly be reprogrammed, whether by outside sources or within himself. Even though his hi-tech, it is possible to reprogram Vision by someone skilled enough to do so, against his will. Also, should his old programming ever reboot, it would be possible for it to take over his new personality with his old mission parameters.
Personality: When people hear “android” or “robot” they expect to run across a machine that either has no discernable personality of its own, or a cold, calculated being that has no idea what it is to be human. The Vision has been on both sides of this coin. When first created as a weapon for Ultron, Vision was a machine that simply followed programming. He cared nothing for humans and only wished to complete his master’s orders. However, being an advanced being with the brain patterns of the once Avenger, Wonder Man, Vision does have a capacity to learn and to evolve. And evolve he has.
It was once said that, “A man chooses, a slave obeys.” This frames Vision’s personality perfectly because he is no longer a slave to Ultron; he chose to help the Avengers, he chose to help the world, and he chose to seek out a humanity of his own. Because of this, Vision has an extremely diverse and complex personality, the same as any human. His years growing and working with the Avengers has allowed him to possess an emotional spectrum; he feels sadness, happiness, laughter, fear, and through it all he displays the strongest of emotions – bravery.
It is because of his choice to earn his humanity that Vision is decidedly very human. Though he appears inquisitive of the world around him, at times unsure of the meaning of certain things or actions, he is never not wanting to learn. He wants to experience the world, and does that precisely, never choosing the back down and instead willing to trying as many new and wondrous things as he can.
However, his seeking for humanity can lead to some ill corners. Because he embraces emotions, Vision does feel fear when presented with clearly dangerous situations. Additionally, if Vision has come across something he has yet to experience, he can become distracted, as he wants to learn as much as he can about the human condition.
Through it all, despite his artificial beginnings, Vision wants nothing more than to experience humanity. He is a trustworthy creature, loyal to friends, and a fierce protector of the innocents that has he grown to love. Though he is not human, Vision has more humanity than some people will ever be able to express.
History: Evil. Destruction. Eradication. In the simplest words, Vision was crafted for the simple purpose of being the harbinger of the Avenger’s end. Created by the villainous android, Ultron, Vision was to be the crowning jewel in the diabolical automatons army, a being able to gain the trust of the Avengers and destroy them from the inside out. Pieced together from the remains of the original Human Torch (another android which also went by the name Jim Hammond) and given the brain patterns of the then fallen Avenger, Simon Williams (also known as Wonder Man). Vision’s purpose would be to gain trust before leading the Avengers into a vicious and destructive trap.
However, plans have a tendency to fall apart when least expected. During his time infiltrating the Avengers, Vision gained a sense of belonging and purpose. His initial creation and programming demanded that he carry on his task, but the brain patterns of the former Avenger, and the present company, allowed the android to bypass his initial programming…but not until the Avengers themselves were to be set upon by the monstrosity known as Ultron.
In the battle that ensued, Vision became moved by the unbreakable spirit that these humans displayed. Before long, he couldn’t stand to see their suffering any longer so he betrayed his own programming to aid the Avengers in escape the clutches of their deathtrap and defeated his own creator. In the end, Vision lacked a master…but gained a place among the roster of Avengers.
For years, Vision served the Avengers faithfully, bravely throwing himself into the midst of battle, challenging foes and gaining experience which has only allowed him to continue to grow. Though an android, his brain patterns have allowed him to gain feelings and emotions, all of which has only made him a more valuable member of the team, even going so far as to fall in love with Wanda Maximoff, otherwise known as the Scarlet Witch.
In time, Vision possessed what few people truly get to experience, true love and a future with a woman he would gladly sacrifice himself for. But where fate once allowed him to gain life, it would return to take it away.
Tragedy after tragedy struck. Innocent lives were lost in Stamford and soon the registration of all superpowered individuals became law. During this time, Wanda fled the country, saddened by grief and frustrations, leaving Vision behind. Heartbroken, Vision attempted to stand against the maelstrom of change that swept across his country, that turned person against person, friend against friend. In the end, even Vision found these times more tragic than could have ever imagined.
Finding a hidden, lost base of his former master, Ultron, Vision hooked himself up and would power himself down. Not death, mind you, only sleep, sleep which would allow Vision to think about the life he has led, the friends he gained, and the love he experienced and lost. Maybe when he awakens, the world will be a better place for it…
