Codename:
Iron Man

Real Name:
Anthony "Tony" Edward Stark

Nickname:
Armored Avenger, Spare Parts Man, Shellhead, Man of Iron, Metal Man, Tin Man

Age:
32

Gender:
Male

Race:
Human

Appearance:
Tony Stark has the build of an athletic man, measuring up at 6 feet and 1 inches and weighing 185 pounds. All of his black hair is usually slicked back or untidy and a well groomed goatee adorns his face as well. Stern blue eyes peer out in contrast to his dark hair, but the oddest feature about Tony would be his R.T. node in his chest that helps maintain his body functions.

Clothing:
Tony's clothing is nothing too exciting or extravagant. For his usual business or formal events Tony will wear a nice suit with a tie and a good set of sunglasses to boot. However, when not in a high end suit, he'll sport anything comfortable ranging from a tee shirt to a cashmere sweater and anything a normal person would wear.

Asides from this Tony sports his Iron Man armors for combat and transportation situations. These suits vary in size and color but for the most part he dons his Extremis armor.

(The armor's descriptions and capabilities will be elaborated upon in the armor/gear section.)

Weapons / Armor / Gear:
Tony has one piece of gear that works as his main form of defense and offense, the Bleeding Edge armor. The Bleeding Edge armor is much more streamlined and compact, requiring no motors or servos for any motion. The nano-machines that make up the armor are like a second skin and flow and react quickly to Tony’s mental commands. Keeping with the traditional red and gold color scheme, Tony’s Bleeding Edge armor keeps the arc reactor in the chest area as well. However, smaller glowing reactors are located on his shoulders, collar bone, on his pectorals, abdomen, and hips. When flying, flaps pop out of his upper back, lower back, and back of his calves.

Bleeding Edge Armor:
Asides from the capabilities already listed from the Extremis armor, the Bleeding Edge armor has a couple news upgrades. The armor is also stored in his bone marrows, simply requiring a mental command to form on the outside of his body and into his armor.

Skills / Education/ Training:
Genius level intellect: Considered one of the 3 smartest people in the world Tony is a pioneer in engineering. By pushing his suits beyond the limit each time, his intelligence is unquestioned. This intelligence is what allows him to improvise effectively to escape near death experiences and tough situations.

Expert Engineer: From repairing or creating suits to repairing any other kind of machinery, Tony is at the forefront of engineering, constantly pushing the envelope.

Expert Tactician: Not only can Tony plan elaborate and brilliant battle strategies but he is capable of adjusting plans on the fly and adapting to situations.

Skilled Combatant: Tony was trained in the use of hand to hand combat and is highly efficient in it. Though he uses his armor, he is more than competent in hand to hand combat and can fend for himself if need be.

Powers:
Tony has no real powers as he's simply a human, his Extremis armor and exposure to Extremis has given him several new abilities.

Direct Cybernetic Interface: His entire exo-armor is stored inside carbon nanotubes and can be controlled and manifested by brain impulses alone. This direct cybernetic interface also grants him wireless communication and he can link to any satellite, cell phone, or computer world wide as well as project his voice through a sound system all through electric transmissions coming from his central nervous system.

Superhuman Reflexes: The Extremis virus that Tony took has granted him increased movement reaction and speed.

Since upgrading his armor to the Bleeding Edge Armor, The following has been upgraded:

Regenerative Systems: Though still capable of repairing the armor, the new Bleeding Edge armor doesn't repair Tony’s own bodily injuries as quickly, as it relies more heavily on improved shields to compensate.

Superhuman Strength: With the jets at full thrust, he can optimally lift around 500 tons.

Flight: The new Bleeding Edge armor allows Tony to fly 5 miles in a second at top speed, and a cruising speed of 200 miles per hour.

Sensor Array: The Bleeding Edge armor comes equipped with sensors that detects radar/sonar, night vision, and physiological/medical. This scanner allows him to detect people's heart rate, vitals, and brain waves as well as scan the environment for atmospheric content. The suit now also gives him a full 360 degree camera view.

Energy Shields: The shields have been improved to last up to an hour now at 100% but still weaken other areas when at full power, making it less efficient and optimal.

Energy Blade: A blade of about 22 inches extended out of the wrist portion of the suit, giving him a close-quarters combat capability.

Superhuman Speed: Extremis armor grants Tony the ability to move and react at very high speed.

Power Cells: Tony's suit is powered by solar converters, an inboard generator that uses Beta particle absorption as the fuel source in conjunction with Tony's Arc Reactor.

Energy Conversion Power Recharge: The armor absorbs and converts solar, heat, magnetic, and electrical energies directly into the batteries as energy. It can also drains some sources of energies for recharging purposes.

Self-Contained Life-Support System & Environmental Protection: The suit is completely sealed off and is capable of work in vacuum and underwater operations. The suit also protects Tony from radiation, biological, chemical, corrosive, kinetic, and electrical attacks while providing him with a self sustaining life support system.

Sensor Array: The Extremis armor comes equipped with an sensor that detects radar/lidar, night vision, and physiological/medical. This scanner allows him to detect people's heart rate, vitals, and brain waves as well as scan the environment for atmospheric content.

Enhanced Durability and Energy Shields: Tony's armor can withstand high caliber bullets, rockets, torpedoes, and concussive blasts while sustaining minimal damage. It automatically protects Tony from underwater and outer space pressures as well as having shields against psionic attacks. The shields drain energy and can only be up for roughly 45 minutes at 100%, so Tony runs it at the lesser rate of 2% which can withstand a head on missile explosion.

Repulsor Rays: Tony's main offensive weapons, this particle beam that can repel physical and energy-based attacks while having enough power to blow clean through 2 inches of steel like paper.

Lasers: Basic lasers that can be used as weapons or used simply for welding.

Smart Missiles: These smart missiles can be combined with Tony's onboard computer to locate weak points on it's targets and then be shot at it.

Unibeam: A powerful blast that can use lights from all spectrums and can destroy whatever is in it's way, it's stronger than the repulsor rays but uses up more energy.

Weakness:
Alcoholism: Due to the hardships he's gone through in his life in conjunction with the pressures of his business and super hero life, Tony at one point fell into alcoholism. He managed to fight it off the first time and come out okay, but with new mounting pressures and the death of a friend heavy on his mind, the temptation to pick up a drink is ever present.

Energy Recharge: Tony's suit runs on the energy from it's batteries as well as the Arc Reactor in his chest and as such he needs to charge it every so often to keep it working at optimal levels. His suit needs to recharge after 10 hours of intense combat or less when he uses one of the suits features at higher than optimal rates such as a full powered force field. Also to compensate at times for low energy supplies, Tony will have to move energy out of one area into another, for example, move power from repulsor rays to shields or other such tools.

Arrogance: At times, Tony allows himself to underestimate an opponent. Though he is a strong fighter and an incredibly intelligent individual, he can be bested at times and his arrogance is to blame for that.

Personality:
Tony is an man with many layers like an onion. On the outermost layer is the playboy, genius, businessman that the world has come to know. He tends to be narcissistic, over confident, and an incredible flirt. He's not afraid to voice his opinion and not afraid to talk to any woman he finds attractive.

His next layer is the philanthropist, kind hearted, and caring person he is. In his adulthood, Tony matured, realizing how reckless he was in his teen years and how the weapons he created are harmful. Thus now in his life, he wants to rid the world of the weapons his company created to make the world a better place. Tony is also a good natured person and loyal friend, he goes beyond what he needs to in order to do what's best for the people he cares for. Tony's desire to make the world a better place is the main driving force in his actions, inventions, and life.

The deepest layer is the troubled and dark side that he deals with alone on a daily basis. With the pressures that he faces and the constant reminder that his technology is used for evil Tony fell into alcoholism. Though he hasn't had a drink in a long time, Tony finds himself constantly fighting to keep sober because he wishes to never fall into such a downward spiral again. His drinking problem led to him losing sight of his goals, abandoning his responsibilities, and adding pressure and shame to his loved ones. This is something he never wants to do again. However, with the death of a dear friend of his on his hands and the torn community of super heroes before him, Tony finds himself struggling to keep a hold on the less reckless side of his persona.

History:
The son of Howard Stark, a brilliant industrialist and inventor, Tony showed that at a young age he was gifted intellectually and mechanically. By age 15, Tony was enrolled in the undergraduate electrical engineering program at MIT. Tony ended up double majoring in Physics and Engineering and by age 21 inherited Stark Industries from his father. The company soon became a multi-billion dollar giant that did contracts for the government in the advanced weaponry and munitions department.

Sometime later Tony made a trip to Vietnam in order to watch the trial of his mini-transistors amidst warnings of lack of security on site. It's here that Tony is captured by the warlord Wong-Chu and a piece of shrapnel is lodged in his chest. While captured Wong-Chu proposes a deal to Tony: build weapons for him and in return Tony will have life saving surgery. However, aware that this is a lie, Tony agrees anyways in order to find a way to get out. With the help of well renown Nobel laureate and physicist Professor Ho Yin Sen, they built an electrical suit that needed to be charged in order to be used.

While lying inside the suit, waiting for it to charge, Wong-Chu felt uneasy and went to perform a random search on the two captives. In order to buy Tony some time, Yin Sen confronted Wong-Chu and his men, ultimately sacrificing his life. Once fully charged, Tony got rid of Wong-Chu and his men then started to make his way back to an American base.

Tony managed to make his way back to the States where he started to work on a new more mobile and compact chest plate to help keep his heart pumping and the shrapnel out of it while hiding under his regular clothes. Completing a newer, slimmer, and more compact version of his "Iron Man" armor, Tony brought its existence to the public.

Recognizing that the suit was his way of combating evil and ridding the world of his weapons, Tony found a new purpose in his life, becoming the super hero Iron Man.

Most recently Tony was on the Pro-Registration side of the Superhero Act enacted in the USA which requires heroes to document their secret identities and go through training and evaluations before fighting crime. The super hero world was split down the middle of this law and both sides, as well as super heroes as a whole, have gone through some life changing situations as a result. Here is where we find Tony now, trying to find himself after a very heavy and trying time recently.
