Hello, HOL students(and possibly fellow Staff members)! Welcome to the forums for the class "Magic of Comic Books"! This forum will be used in the future for class updates(such as when the assignments and lessons are posted), and for any other announcements that may need to be made. You may also use the forum to talk to your fellow classmates, and to get constructive criticism on your artwork/comic pages from your peers(friendly criticism only, though. :).) For those of you who don't know, Magic of Comic Books is a one term class where you will learn everything about making your own comic, aside from how to draw the characters(unfortunately, I can't teach you that, as that strays outside the G rating.). You will learn how to write realistic characters, what kinds of panel layouts there are, what materials can be used for what kind of comics, the basics of cover layouts, and more. :). Homework is not difficult, and should not take that much time, but it is still challenging. Most of the time, homework involves answering a couple of true/false questions, and usually a drawing or writing assignment(nothing too hard, though. I promise.) If you get stuck on any assignment, there are examples that have generously been provided by former students. :). Also, artistic ability does not determine how many points you get. As long as I can see that you tried, you will get the full amount of points. I do not expect you to be a good artist to take this class. :). Artists of any ability are welcome here. :) And finally, in order to earn your quill, you must turn in 3 of the 4 assignments, and the final. I hope to see all of you who read this in class! -Prof. Iruel Riddle |
