I have no confidence in this team full of soft lesbians in the post season. I'm officially moving on to next year,,,

This team needs a major overhaul: Get me Lee and Crawford. Switch Gardner to right and bat him leadoff. Sign Jeta on a 2yr $30mil deal and bat him ninth. Make Swisher the DH (He can make spot starts in the field when resting ole timers). Sign Ty Wiggington as a super utility guy. Make Nunez the backup infield guy. Bring Montero up to share catching duties with Posada. Resign Thames for a bat off the bench. Pitch Nova as our #4 (embarass that cornhole AJ by putting him #5). Resign Moseley for the end of the pen. Move Wood to 8th inning setup and Slobba way down in the depth chart. Resign Boone Logan. He's done a good job. Resign MeatTray for depth. MeatTray, Cervelli and Pena to AAA for depth.

Cut ties with lesbos NickJohnson, Berkman, Kearns, Vazques, Guardin.

Let Pettite retire. (If he wants to come back, let him take AJ's rotation spot and shift AJ to the back of the pen...)

CC
Lee
Hughes
Nova
AJ/Pettite

Mo
Wood
Aceves
Logan
Joba
Robertson
Moseley/AJ

Gardner
Crawford
Texiera
Arod
Cano
Swisher
Granderson
Posada
Jeta

Thames
Montero
Nunez
Wiggington

Now that's a team you can bank on......

Naaaah, son. Three decent starts doesn't earn that. If he's a starter next year, the rotation is flawed.

It would more embarass the Yankees having a fifth starter who makes $16M and doesn't contribute anything but Cool Whip in towels... And you know that won't happen. The lowest he'd drop is fourth, and that's if the signed Cliff Lee and Pettitte comes back.

Aside: I'm also not going to like the Cliff Lee contract - if he does sign here. He'll be overpaid (not that big a deal) and have too long a contract. I can see him getting six years because this front office is shortsighted when it comes to stuff like that. Plus they'll feel desperate to offset/compensate for the Burnett mistake.

Mr. Can't Miss will probably lose his index finger opening a can of Dole pineapple chunks in the offseason.

I was gonna just throw in a LMAO smilie, but I thought, "Is there a manager who would do that?" That's a hypothetical because Girardi will be the manager and, when asked, he couldn't even admit that Jeter's name and reputation is part of what's kept him atop the lineup. So he's even afraid to set foot near the egg shells. But just wild wondering: Is there a manager who would come in, not worry about what's sacrosanct, and be like, "You're batting at the bottom until you prove you belong elsewhere"?

Honestly, if Jeter ever dropped in the order, I think it would be more of a big deal among the fans. Whether he's as classy as he's perceived or he's just smart enough to maintain the polish on that image, he'd put on a good face and try to come off as a team player. Say he's coming off a terrible year and has to redeem himself. It's the fans who'd be up in arms. "And it was a travesty when Joe bat A-Roid 8th one time in the playoffs? This guy's gonna put Jeter at the bottom the whole year! And the Steinbrenner family is gonna allow this? This is classless! This is a disgrace! They're gonna get cursed for 200 years!"

Sorry but I don't really even want Jeter back (He's Done). I understand he's coming back and will get his $$$ but from a baseball perspective, this team is better with him at the bottom of the lineup and only giving him a shorter term deal. Screw the clueless fans. I'm more concerned with winning championships. :peace:

You think he wouldn't be batting 8th or 9th right now if I had my way? And I'm the person who always disliked his contract, even during the good years, and folks probably thought I was an asshole who just liked to talk sh*t. I've always said that Jeter is not a superstar, he's only perceived as one and in order for him to come close to deserving $19-20M/year, he'd have to almost average his career highs - hit .330+ with 20-25 homers, .400+ OBP, 25+ SB every year. Coming off a .260/10 homer season, he's a $5M/year player. And the only reason I'd say that much is because he's just a year removed from a .334 season. I'm serious: it'd be one year, $5M. So I'm not one you have to convince. But there's what I/we think and what's reality. Reality is, he'll make at least $15M/year on the extension (it was a lock to be $20M per, but this crap season might allow them a little leverage... might) and he will bat first or second in the lineup next year. All we can do is hope this year can be blamed on injury (whatever injury makes you swing like a pussy and not be able to square a ball up) or straight fluke and he rebounds well next year.

Regardless, my bigger concern is 2012 and beyond. I do kind of expect him to bounce back in 2011. But as he approaches and turns 40 and there aren't any bounce-backs and we're stuck with another piece of sh*t contract. I won't be appeased my milestones. A-Rod, too. I don't have this profound awe for baseball records anyway. And if he's getting $30M to hit .264 with 1923 type power numbers, I wouldn't be able to muster half a f*ck if I tried about him breaking the home run record. sh*t, he might not even get there. He's got Bernie Williams power now.

Agreed. I hate that they're putting themselves in that position. Heading straight for a train wreck, can see it plain as day and yet they still move forward...... Feck these "records". I'd rather have Championships. You'd think they would have learned something from Posada's contract. 2yrs max on these geezers (I would have gone yr to yr on Jeter; give him his $20mil/yr but don't lock in on a multiyear commitment!).
