Sadly Rob speaks the truth. I like to throw the word gutless around sometimes but the simple fact is, Burnett, like Hang 'em, is just a totally useless pile of shet. Not gutless he's just flat out bad. |

What's Cashman, like 1-for-10 on big starting pitcher signings? |

Burnett was one of those free agent pitchers that you just knew was trouble. I wanted to sign Derek Lowe instead, of course he's been garbage for the Braves so it doesn't matter. There really were no better options. The other free agent pitchers were Ryan Dempster and Oliver Perez. Stupid quitter Mike Mussina screwed us and screwed himself out of a World Series championship. Moron. |

At least we got Game 2 of the 2009 World Series out of him, plus a couple of other good starts mixed in with of course a couple of sh*t postseason performances as well. Unfortunately that is probably all he will ever have to hang his Yankee career on. He's been brutal this year. It would take a work of god for him to straighten himself out for October. This team is in trouble. Our rotation is very thin, would have been really nice to have Cliff Lee but at least we'll have him next year. |

People point to the rotation all the time, but I'm actually more upset with the offense. The rotation sucks now because it's got suckers in it. Burnett isn't someone we should have ever trusted to be good (I don't give him any credit for the playoffs last year because I remember the implosions and his overall 5+ ERA), Javy is Javy, Mosely/Nova are freshmen and Hughes is essentially a rookie starter. It's this underachieving offense that's pissing me off. Last year at this time, they were looking like a championship team and steamrolling. Teixeira, A-Rod and Jeter were hot and getting clutch hits and Cano was just starting to hit w/ RISP a little. This group has had waaaaaaay to many "what the f*ck was that?" lay down games. You look at the record and some of the games they've just given away, you could easily make the argument they should have 5-7 more wins. Easy. The AL East race shouldn't be this tight. Even Cano, who I love (no homo). When this season's over, if you zoom out a little, you'll realize it was kind of a disappointment. The way he started and with what we know he's capable of, the overall numbers will fall well short of what it could've been. Seems like he hasn't had a sustained hot streak since May. And I keep thinking about what the 2014 infield is gonna look like. |

I agree with you for the most part, the offense does concern me as well and I've been quite upset with it. I think where you have to give AJ props for last year despite the bad postseason starts is the fact that he pithced the biggest game of the year for us in Game 2 of the World Series. If we lose that game and he implodes in typical fashion we don't bring home #27. He went out and pitched a gem and stepped up in a big spot. I know I've been an AJ apologist but I can recongize sh*t and what he is, right now he's straight garbage and this is why he's not more than a .500 pitcher his entire career despite his great stuff. Game 2 was huge though. huge. |

He can stick Game 2 up his ass. I was actually confident in the Yankees winning that series. As confident as I've been since 2000, and I still think they could've afforded a Game 2 loss. Not saying he didn't do well and it wasn't important, but I wouldn't have buried them if they'd lost it. My prediction going into the series was Yanks in 6 and, like in the Mets series, I never doubted they'd win. And I think Game 2 wasn't Burnett bearing down and delivering a clutch performance. It was just the coin landing tails that day. If he was capable of locking in and putting in work like that, he wouldn't be the pitcher he is. There's guys that you can say: when he has his stuff, he's good or when he's really focused he can dominate. Burnett isn't one of those. It just happens when he does well. It just happens when he sucks. After 10+ years, it just is what he is. That Game 2 performance was as by chance as winning $20 in a f*cking scratch & match. |

What exactly do you think Robinson Cano is capable of? He's gonna finish the year with around a .325 avg, 200 hits, 30 HR, 45 2B, 105-110 RBI, 110 runs, a .940 OPS, 75K/60BB, and a gold glove. If you expect much more than that I think you may be overestimating what he's capable of a little. If you believe in WAR he's pretty much tied with Miggy for the best player in the AL. Could the numbers be a little better if Genius Girardi thought to give him a day off ever? Yeah, probably, but saying the guys career year (probably) is a disappointment is giving his talent a bit too much credit. |

The offense certainly has to take a hit, Jeter has sucked, A-Rod when he was in there hasn't been as good as he's been in the past and I don't think much will change when he returns, Tex took way too long to get going and still hasn't exactly been that trust worthy and Damon and Matsui weren't replaced well because Johnson proved to be the useless waste I expected him to be (so much for dhing him preventing injuries) and Granderson was a major disappointment, I honestly thought he could give us .270-.275 with 30-35 homers, but he's a total pile of sh*t. Despite all that, I still think this team would have a shot in the playoffs if the pitching staff was better. If Sabathia can keep pitching the way he has for most of this season and Pettitte can pick up where he left off that'll be a big boost, but one of the two out of Hughes and Burnett needs to step up. Hang 'em is another letdown of an offseason pick up, if that jackov had just pitched 'ok' we'd be in better shape. Too bad dipshit Cashman didn't get another starter at the trade deadline.
