This was one of the worst umpired games I have seen in a long time. Tonight is the kind of performance that should result in an immediate firing. He threw two Blue Jays out of the game for no reason, and he made the whole Nova/Bautista thing 100x worse than it should have been by charging out from behind the plate and issuing a warning for a pitch that was two feet away from Bautista in the first place.

That pitch to Granderson was on the US side of the US/Canada border and dickwad called it a strike. What will he do if anything, some stupid apology.

How does that kind of strike call not result in an automatic firing?

Automatic firing? You out yo f*ckin' mind? Because that pitch, according to GameDay, was maybe 8 inches outside. That's well within the range for a called strike depending on the particular umpire's "interpretation of the strike zone." Is eight inches not enough room to fit in the "human element"?

I'd love eight inches to be my "human element".

Too bad you're not Puerto Rican :D

Why is there a strike zone in the rule book if Umpires get to change it to whatever they want? What happened to Questech? The sad truth is Umpires see themselves as part of the game rather than facilitators of the game, and the only criteria for judgment of umpires is how old you are and how long you've been an umpire. Get me 4 robots and some kind of lighting system and put all these assholes on the street.
