He hasn't hit the ball hard all year. If he asks for anything more than 4 years, $60 mil that should be the end of any discussions. Say thanks for the memories and move on.

That picture says all you need to know about this overpaid jackass. If we miss the playoffs, he will be a huge reason why.

Four years?! Are you f*cking insane?! Did you not learn from Posada?! One year $8 million. Max is two years.

I'm not happy about the fact that he'd be here four years but I don't think the Yankees have the guts to go any less. If they gave Posada a 'thanks for the past even though you really did nothing' four-year deal there's no way Jeter gets less. However, they can cut his pay significantly and if he throws a sh*t fit about it, which he would, you tell him to feck off.

I care more about the years than the money. I'd rather he get $60M for three years and have sensible fans call that a victory.

I'd be happy with anything under 4 years but I don't see that happening. They gave Posada a 4-year deal there's no way they're giving Jeter any less.

I know. They'd give the fourth year to be certain he's here for his 3,500th hit.

4 years, $80-85 mil. It's going to happen so I've accepted it.

Does it really matter? Of course he doesn't deserve the contract, but its not like Jeter's contract is going to hinder any other spending. Let him finish out his career, get his 3,000 hit and so forth. Its a good story. Its not like Hanley is available anyway, so it doesn't really matter. Plus the addition of Crawford and the hopeful subtraction of Granderson will make the line up that much more solid next year anyway.

I don't think any of us are concerned about Jeter's contract hindering the Yankees' spending. We're concerned about having a black hole at the top of the order, which is what he very well could be.

Derek Jeter should be batting 8th next year.

I was thinking the same thing. He needs to be dropped in the order. Hell, Bernie was batting 8th his last few years, right?

Yeah, and there is no reason why Jeter can't hit 8th. Shove the team captain garbage up Suzyn Waldman's twat, a light hitting slap hitter who is unable to pull any pitch needs to be batting towards the bottom of the order.

I also agree, but I don't see Girardi dropping Jeter to 8th in the order, certainly not next year. It'd be nice to be proven wrong though.

In fact, it would illustrate how much of a leader he is to bat 8th, not complain and get on with playing hard. He won't though; he'll be lead-off and will earn $20mm a year for 4 years with an option.
