NEW YORK -- Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was struck in his left leg by a line drive during batting practice at Yankee Stadium before the Bombers' contest against the Red Sox on Saturday afternoon.

With Lance Berkman taking his cuts, Rodriguez was manning third base when a hard-hit ball off the bat of Berkman struck the New York slugger just below the left knee. Rodriguez stumbled into center field and collapsed face down behind a protective screen, holding his head while writhing in pain.

He was attended to on the field by medical staff and Yankees trainer Gene Monahan, who had been summoned from the clubhouse by players.

Rodriguez eventually got to his feet and was able to limp off the field accompanied by Monahan. Rodriguez was in the Yankees' lineup in his customary cleanup spot and set to play third. The team had yet to announce whether he would play in the game, which was set to begin at 4:10 p.m. ET.

Lance Berkman is a bumbling idiot. Everything he does is wrong.

I laughed when I heard. Also funny is the fact that the ball caught A-Rod in the lower leg. How much of a line drive could that have been if it was already sinking by the time it reached third base? You see low liners back up the middle, not when the ball is pulled and "smashed" to the hot corner. In batting practice Berkman couldn't square it up and elevate the ball. That would've been a groundout in a game.

Berkman, who was batting right-handed, ripped a one-hopper down the third-base line that apparently caught Rodriguez on the left shin as he was taking grounders. "Look out!" Berkman shouted as the ball left his bat.

Blame it on Joe Buck. Alex took his eye off the ball to respond to Buck saying hi to him in foul territory.

That was probably the hardest hit ball for Lance Berkman since putting on Yankee pinstripes. Useless imbecile. And it's like A-Rod, who's already had enough of his own problems this season needs this. I can't wait to see what pile of sh*t Cashman pulls out of his ass next. It'll be impressive if he adds another player sometime this month even more despicable to watch than Granderson, Johnson (when he was actually on the field), Vazquez and Berkman.
