Is it fitting or ironic that he and A-Rod are having the worst seasons of their career the same year on the same team?

Next year they can both have huge comeback seasons the same year on the same team.

It's funny though, A Rod's worst year is still going to be a year he probably drives in around 120 runs or so.

He's on pace for 25 homers and 134 RBI! Somehow he will figure out a way to get to 30 homers.

Nah, it's just coincidental. What'll be fitting is when they're both having the worst seasons of their careers at 40 and making a combined $50M. I'm curious about who'll be the DH and who'll be the embarassingly incompetent fielder.

I thought A-Rod's 10-year extension at 32 was shortsighted and idiotic, and I'm going to hate Jeter's $100M extension. By 2015, this team will either suck or have an extremely high payroll trying to compensate for all the high-priced geezers.

While people are all swept up in this pursuit of 600 (which I won't give a sh*t about when it happens), I think a lot of them are overlooking the fact that A-Rod isn't having an A-Rod season. It's not really a big deal that he hasn't homered in 43 at-bats because he's only got 16 all year. He's probably had longer stretches. The big deal is that a .300+ career hitter is batting .260-something and not walking, and a guy you expect 40-50 homers from, we're in high anticipatation of him hitting his 17th... some time in August. And we've got seven more years of bad hips and whatever the f*ck else is wrong with him.

Not that it matters, but I noticed Jeter hasn't hit an over-the-fence homer since June 12 and he's gotten just six extra base hits since then.
