That we added 3 bloated washed up fat bags of sh*t .... Berkman is breaking down at 34 yrs of age ....looks to be carrying a gut around these days ....never left Houston .....now he's in pressure cooker having a his worst year ....and he's slobbed ontop of Nick Johnson Bloat signing by our lazy Gm You can make the case that Austin Kearns is a career bust , hanging on in a beatup city like Cleveland and he too looks a bit porky to play the OF these days..... And you can make the case we added the biggest bust in sports since Tony Mandarich to our Pen - a guy whose as brittle as a some of the brittle legends Lindros Nick Johnson, Carl Pavano...A guy who has a 6.80 ERA a makes Joba look like Sparky Lyle... You can make the case we we REALLY NEEDED UTILITY MAN - WHO CAN HIT AND PLAY 3B 2B 1B OF - OH WE HAD HIM ....BUT HE PLAYS IN SAN DIEOOOOOGO NOW........ You can make the case we needed a real Starting pitcher not Dustin Mosley - one that would allow us to stick Phyllis back in the setup role that Joka and Kerry Wood cannot and will not be able to handle ... 2010 Deadline? While everything you posted could turn out to be true, Cashman is taking a chance on these three players while losing only Mark Melancholy and Jimmy Gristedes. Heck, the Astros and Indians are picking up a lot of the money for Berkman and Wood. The Yanks were the best team in baseball without these three players. If they all suck, the Yanks are still a top team. If one or two of them pan out, then the Yanks are that much better. |

Look around the league and who was actually traded. We gave up nothing and all the moves are low-risk, high-reward. For all 3 guys, we're paying only $5 mil. Are they going to be David Justice? Probably not. But the team is better today then they were yesterday. |

I agree with Rob and Moo. The moves are so low risk, they had to be made, and there is upside with each of them. The bench is strong, the lineup is stronger, and the bullpen is possibly stronger. They didn't give up players and a large chunk of the salaries are paid for by their former teams. It is also key to note that Tampa Bay didn't make any moves, unless you consider getting a reliever with an ERA over 8.00 a move. They really needed a Berkman-type move for DH, if they weren't going to get the impact bat in Dunn. |

While you could be right, we gave up little and was worth the shot. |
