CUT THROAT WINS THE RACE OF LIFE - - THE CARING , SENTIMENTALIST WINDS UP WITH HIS FACE IN THE DIRT ....TRAMPLED BY THE WASP

5 WS - NUMEROUS ACCOLADES .....thank you and Goodbye - you were paid $189 M and you fulfilled your contract to the highest level and for that ....we will have a Day for you in the future - a small monument and possibly a candy at the stadium "Jolly Jeter Jellies"

Goodbye to:

Derek Jeter

Johnny Damon

Hideki Matsui

Xavier Nady

Andy Pettitte

It's time to turn the page and rebuild - I would take the new found cash and sign John Lackey - maybe Matt Holliday as well - give the SS job to Ramiro Pena - go CC, AJ Lackey , Hughes Gaudin and see what happens - and move Austin Jackson up ....

Be Smart here ....don't go buying trophy players or hanging onto old trophies ....players are like stocks....and right now the aforementioned are a short term high .....ready to collapse .....

Move along ..... you'll Derek when the Mets play the Cubs and he's wearing a Cubbie "C" on his hat ....

Not even worth bringing up how well he played during the regular season and playoffs. You're smart enough to know that he's not going anywhere.

Nobody is stupid enough to take Jeter and the $21m he's owed.

I tell you what, Jeter better realize a pay cut is coming if he's staying here. Plus nobody else would pay him anywhere near that kind of money. I say 3 years 40 million for the Captain when is contract is up.

No way he gets traded, but when the contract negotiations happen next offseason it'll be interesting to see where they go. If the Yankees have a bad year and he doesn't play well or gets hurt, the Yankees have leverage. If he stays healthy, has a good season and the team does well, even if we were to get bounced in the ALDS, he'd have the leverage.

I don't know why you can't accept the fact that he'll be making at least $20M a year on his next contract. Half the money of his next deal will be for sentimentality, marketing and the good vibes that'll come with him chasing milestones. He'd whip his dick out and slap Cashman with it if they offered him $40M for three years. Jeter and the fanbase would not accept The Captain making less than half what A-Rod is getting.

Exactly. It's going to be a 5 year, $100 million contract with player options after that. I understand the reason why you'd want to do otherwise but its happening.

Unless he's willing to shift positions (if the Yanks ask him to) and take max $45mil on a 3 yr deal, I say cut ties with Jeta. He's been a great Yankee but sentimentality is for Losers. We need to start transitioning to a younger more atheletic team or we'll be in 4th place in a couple years with a lineup filled with ova-da-hill veterans. :agent:

I agree with almost all the above. I think given his good season stretching to $15 per and 3 is worthy (see what 2010 gives us) but otherwise I'd cut ties.

I also think it will be $20m per and 4/5 years because of the reasons listed above.
