What do you expect from Pettitte in Game 6?

An older pitcher, who didn't look good in Game 3 by the way, going on short rest against a team that has been given new life. I'm not saying this is the wrong move either by the way because Gaudin tonight and AGay in Game 6 is a crapshoot as well. I just want to know what you all REALISTICALLY expect from Pettitte. Honestly, if we get 5 ip and 3 runs out of him I'll be stunned. I'm thinking we'll get a 3-inning, 6-run shitfest. He's old and his stuff is not that good. Pedro was great his last time out and this f*cking team doesn't seem to feel like hitting until it's almost too late. I think we're in big trouble.

I'm worried. I'll take 5-6 innings of 3 run ball. The key is jumping on Pedro early. I'm hoping he will have his own issues with "short rest," which are in quotes since he hasn't gone on regular rest in awhile.

As with Pettitte many times in the past, you just don't know what you will get. You get solid starts more often than the stinkers and hopefully that will be the case again, short rest notwithstanding.

I expect him to pitch fairly well. Throughout the season, he and Sabathia have been the only starters I've had confidence in (and YF should know because I was defending him to you mid-season). I trust that he can deliver a "quality" start. But I also know he's lost the last two World Series Game 6s he's been in, including that ******fest against the D'Backs. My prediction was Yankees in 6, so I'm riding with 'em. I'll say... 5-4, Yankees.

Maybe it's the flu, but for some reason I am confident in Pettitte. I think he'll give us 7 only giving up 2 runs.

I hope so. There is a good chance we will all be celebrating if he puts up a game like that.

I just want it to be nice an easy. Why can't it be easy? Why can't we just score 5 runs in 3 innings off Pedro, score 4 more off the horrible bullpen, and win 9-2?

Even the "blowout" games we have had this postseason weren't easy. They were close games the whole time until the bats woke up in the 7th and 8th.

6 IP, 3 runs, and the 7th will be an adventure to get through but then you go Mo for 2 ideally.

its gona be another walk off tonight so be ready for it..

the phillies pen is scared they saw what happened game 4 and last night just re-enforced their fears thats why lidge didnt start the 9th

I hope all you guys who are putting confidence in Pettitte end up being correct. The guy has come up big before but what concerns me is he didn't seem like he had much in Game 3 and now he's being asked to do something he hasn't done in a quite a while. Situation is what it is though, hopefully he comes through for us.

I think this game is going to be slugfest. 4 IP 5 runs for Pettitte but we get more off Pedro and their pen. Mo, Joba, Hughes, Marte etc will need to outpitch their pen guys.

its all gona be up to the pens this is the game that we are gona see who has the better bull pen...i wouldent be suprised if both pitchers go only three innings...

all of pedros starts in the playoffs have been on atleast 7 days rest and now to pitch on 5 days rest is like 3 days rest..

the key is gona be the crowd man they gotta get in the game early and presure his ass start the whos your dady chants and dont stop them till he is out of the game...

thats the thing that i havent liked about the new stadium it doesnt sound as loud as the old yankee stadium it fells like all the rich people in the front are so up tight that they just dont wana cheer or scream thats what this stadium misses the noise

Haha well I quoted Homey. And why even put that back in the universe? For shame.

I had to bump this, because I doughted (like I've been doing for too long now). He nutted up tonight, absolute money and would've been even better had that ump not jobbed him. I wouldn't blame him one bit if he decides to take this and ride into the sunset. I wouldn't mind it if he wants to return either.

I think they need him to come back. Can't count on Wang for anything next year and as is, they're gonna have to deal with Joba and/or Hughes' sh*t in the rotation next year and the only good free agent will be John Lackey, who might be too expensive.

Yeah, I'm going to worry about all this stuff after the parade and everything. But I agree it'd be great to have him back.

Wow, I was pretty close. When I made that post I knew I would take a performance like that, but didn't think I'd be happy with it. I was and I think he needs to come back if possible.

He was much better than the final numbers indicate too. If he doesn't get jobbed by Joe West. It's proably 6 ip, 2 er.
