Joe Girardi said that if Swisher doesn't hit in the first two games at home that Matsui playing the outfield isn't out of the question.

Swisher needs to get going. Imagine if he got hot? He's been an automatic out all postseason.

I'd only do that if Swisher still looks lost AND if Matsui is hitting the hell out of the ball. He's been doing nothing but hitting ground balls to 1st and 2nd lately, we don't need to put him in the field if he's going to do that.

 Girardi also said he's not committed to a 3 man rotation. Imagine the Phillie Sluggers :minigun: feasting on Gaudin (followed by Aceves and Marte no dought) in game 4 . . . :wtf: :no3: :pope: :scared2:

I'm torn on this, I don't mind Gaudoon getting a start in this series, not sure about how I feel about AJ and Andy on short rest. All I know is I want CC in 1, 4 and 7. My question then is do you let Gaudoon get a start in Game 5 and then go either Andy in 2 games or AJ in 2 games, I prefer Andy in 2 games but if you do that you start AJ in an NL park and I'd rather keep him and Molina together at home. If I start AJ in an NL park in my mind you have to catch Jorge with him for that game. I'm not sure how I feel yet, AJ actually is really good in his career on short rest, so maybe you go with this...

Game 1: CC
Game 2: AJ
Game 3: Andy
Game 4: CC
Game 5: Gaudoon
Game 6: AJ back him up with Andy if needed
Game 7: CC

That keeps AJ at home the entire seriesand actually I believe CC would be the only one going short rest with it lined up that way. I'm not sure. :bag:

Gun to head.......Let Gaudoon pitch Game 5.

And we can lick our chops against any starter they have not named Lee. Pedro?? Fat Blanton? Hamels? Haap.....whatever. We should do well with the bats but then again we know how gutless our offense can be this postseason.

It really depends on the situation. If the Yankees are down 3-1 heading into Game 5, there's no way in hell Gaudin should start. Girardi should see how the first few games play out before announcing starters for the remaining games.

I really wish there was a way to avoid having to pitch Gaudin but there isn't that extra off day. So there's one loss for sure. Brunette starting twice makes me feel sick. The Phillies will assrape him no matter where he pitches against them. I don't trust Pettitte completely either but I think him starting twice and having a chance of winning once is better than Brunette's chances of getting one win for us. He pitched like a total whore in Game 5 against the Angels and the Phillies are an even better hitting team. With all the free passes Brunette hands out, it will be two long games for us with him on the mound.

Basically to have a chance, CC is going to have to win all his starts but I don't care who you are, asking somebody to beat this Philly team 3 times is asking too much especially since he'll likely be matched up against Lee each time making things even more difficult.

Pedro pitched well against the Dodgers, our lineup had a tough time hitting the Twins pitchers and Joe Saunders made us look foolish too. I wouldn't be shocked at all if Pedro were to shut our lineup down.

Key word there was Dodgers, our lineup is much better then the Dodgers and that goes without saying. If these whores with the bats step up and do their job they should have no problem with Pedro, Blanton, Haap or even Hamels who is a shell of what he was last year.

With that said, who knows if the bats step up. The Phillies starters just don't do if for me though after Lee. Their lineup is impressive, best we've faced yet, but the Angels lineup wasn't sh*t either and outside of Game 5 we did a hell of a job shutting them down. Should be good......Yankees in 6.

The thing with Pedro is, even if we do get some runs off him, all he has to do is pitch better than Burnett. After how Burnett pitched against the Angels and knowing what the Phillies are capable of, I wouldn't count out the possibility of him throwing another shitfest or two.

The Phillies pitchers suck, and I don't even trust Lee. He got BOMBED by some NL teams and we've hit him before. I am not worried about the Phillies pitchers at all.

What I am worried about is the bats! Carl Pavano shut them down!! Lee could pitch like total shet and still only give up 2 runs in 7 innings. That's just the way our offense works at times. If they get hot, watch out. If not, every game will be a frustrating nail-bitter like the ALDS and ALCS.

True but Burnett could also come out and pitch how he did in Game 2 against the Angels or even better. He's just as capable of throwing a gem as he is imploding, which is why I probably lean to just throwing him once if the choice is between him or Andy for two games. Either way, with the pitching advantage in the rotation and at the closer spot, if we can play good defense and get some timely hitting which this team is due for more of, I like our chances.

Don't know how I feel about Pettitte going on 3 days rest given his age and history of shoulder trouble. That could be a disaster.

What shoulder trouble!? My God it's the World Series!!!!! There isn't going to be another game for him after his second start. Let his arm fall off in the 7th inning for all I care.

CC, AJ, Pettitte, THAT'S IT!!!

Shoulder, elbow, whatever, the guy has had a history of problems with his pitching arm and I could just see things go very badly if he goes on 3 days rest. Of course, the other option is Gaudin so I obviously wouldn't be opposed to Girardi taking his chances with Pettitte and seeing what happens.

Stop it! What the f*ck is one less day of rest going to do?! He's going to magically get injured? How many pitchers have gotten injured going on 3 days rest? Name one!

I didn't say he's going to get injured, but his injury history has been thrown out there by people as a reason why you might be cautious with him. I'm actually more concerned about him going out there and having nothing left by the fifth or sooner. But thinking about it, I wouldn't trust Gaudin at all so I'm on board for the three man rotation.
