I expected the Giants to start 1-1 and they are 2-0, so I am thrilled. But this team HAS TO get better in the redzone. It's been a joke the first two games. Coughlin needs to correct that ASAP. |

This win was like f*cking a slut. Sloppy, but thrilling. I wanna give the offense props because Eli had a 110.6 QB rating with two touchdowns and when's the last time you saw two Giants wide receivers get 10 catches, go over 130 yards and each score a TD? But this game should've been won by at least 14 points. The wasted opportunities make me sick. And luck was on their side. That deflection went right to Manningham. |

"And what does it feel like to silence 100,000 plus? Ask Eli Manning and Jason Tynes." That's why Bob Costas is the man. I wished the hell YES would have snatched him up and dumped Kay into the Hudson. Instead he goes to MLB Network. <_< |

It's been a problem for years. It's not going to be fixed. I think the problem is the play calls. This isn't a power offensive line. They're not maulers, they're technicians who are good at pulling and playing together. In the goal line area, when the space is restricted and the playbook is trimmed, it's power vs. power. And the Giants haven't been able to win those matchups consistently. It's been like that for several years. Why hasn't the coaching staff figured this out? Them saying "We need to get better at that" = them saying, "Do a better job of blocking your man." But that's like telling a dyslexic kid, "You need to read these chapters of Shakespeare." Maybe, just maybe, they is what they is. f*cking scheme better. They drafted Beckum and Barden and you heard all about how this opens things up in the goal line and how they'll be able to get more creative. Have you seen it? Have either of them even been on the field? Got a 6-6 receiver who didn't do sh*t in college but run fade routes (and he ran them damn well in training camp when I was there) and he isn't even on the field in the red zone to create a decoy? Not even as a decoy? You have a Chris Cooley type in Beckum who can catch those passes Hedgecock always drops and you don't put him in, flex him between TE and FB, go play-action and try to get him in the flat? Come the f*ck on. Their philosophy is too simplistic: "Beat your man." It's good when it's working. But when that hasn't been happening (and the only Giant who was beating his man with any regularity in the red zone now looks over his shoulder when he bathes). Try something else. sh*t. Where the f*ck is Kevin Boss down there? I saw the Bucs get Jerramy Stevens wide open in the end zone on a delay route. He stayed in to block for a couple seconds and then slipped into the end zone uncovered. And the creative plays that do work down there, they don't become staples. They get used once and forgotten about. What happened to that trips left with the slot man getting the corner on a short flare? It worked to perfection against the Chargers in 2004 and hasn't been seen since. What happened to 4-wide with the slant from the slant? Worked to perfection with Toomer whichever year that was agaisnt whichever team. They'll continue to struggle as long as Gilbride and Coughlin are able to sniff their own sh*t. It is an execution problem, but the coaches are supposed to pick up on the fact that if the execution fails so many times (and no team reached the red zone as many times as the Giants last year, so there's a big enough sample size) and give them something else to execute. |

Collinsworth said something similar at half time. He said something to the effect of, "I feel like this has been a one-handed affair if you take away a couple of Romo mistakes". I was stunned. I was kind of like, "yeah the Cowboys have been running the ball well, but the Giants have squandered MANY opportunities in the redzone". If anything, the Giants should have scored 45+ points in that game and it should have been a BLOWOUT for the Giants. |

People automatically look at the rushing stats to determine which team is "dominating," so that's probably where it came from. But the Giants offense was moving the ball with relative ease and if not for the 0-for-4 in the red zone (they had five touchdownless trips, but the last was the winning FG), they would've blown the Cowboys out. It doesn't make sense to say one team deserved to win more when their QB has a rating in the 20s, they turn the ball over 4 times and the other team puts up 427 yards on their defense. f*ck the rushing stats. Turnovers are always the biggest determining number and the Giants beat them 4-0 there. I'll consider this dumb sh*t analysis as reason #2 why Dungy will suck on TV. And how many f*cking people is NBC gonna have on that crappy Sunday night show? People laughed about their overloaded roster (in which nobody gets enough talk time to earn his salary, thus making the experiment counterproductive) last year, and they go out and add Dirtbag Harrison and boring, creepy-looking Dungy. NBC is f*ckin' up. |

I can't watch Sunday Night pregame.. I actually think Dungy is a great guy - but a great commentator no not close. I hate, hate, hate Keith Olbermann and Rodney Harrison. I kind of like Bob Costas but mostly because I grew up watching him during Yankees playoff runs as a kid. Tiki Barber I don't mind. Strider, do you generally watch Fox or CBS for Sunday pregames? I have enjoyed Strahan on Fox as a commentator myself to be honest with you, and I think I automatically by default have to like Bradshaw since he is the only one on the show that picked the Giants to beat the Patriots their Super Bowl year. 5-1. New Orleans, dawg.
I used to watch FOX, then I had a phase where I'd flip between FOX and ESPN, then I stopped caring as much and would just leave it on ESPN until 1:00. But I haven't watched any pre-game shows - at least non consistently - in the last year or so. |
