The Raiders are so stupid. This is the move that's gonna put them over the top? They were a player away from being a Super Bowl favorite? Now watch them go 5-11 and give the Patriots the 7th overall pick. Some teams just never learn. This, after they spent like $150M on three free agent defensive players last year and it got them nothing. In fact, two of them (Gibril Wilson and DeAngelo Hall) were released. Add to it, Seymour is a free agent at the end of the year. Nobody wants to stay with the Raiders so if there's any chance of him re-signing, it's gonna cost them a shitload. Bravo. Just when you think an organization can't make any more obvious, first-guessable stupid mistakes. |

Yeah it really was a steal. The initial shock of the deal was the first thing that hit me but it really was a good deal for the Patriots. It will probably end up being anywhere from 1-10. The Raiders are just dumb. First Moss for a 4th and now this. How many players in the league over around 30 could go for a first. Brady? Manning? I really think the Raiders are lost as an organization.

Dumb move for the Raiders, but I am surprised New England would make the deal as it leaves their front 7 even thinner. Added bonus is it's a 2011 pick and the odds are there will be a cap on rookie signings so New England will have to pay less for their draft choice. That year is going to have some ridiculous eligible wide receivers and with Moss nearing the end by that point you can bank on Julio Jones tearing up the AFC East with Pat Patriot on the side of his head. |

Who would've thought a Randy or a Chad would've been anything? Hell how many black Jerry's do you know? And Larry Fitzgerald sounds like someone you call when you have a slip and fall. |

Randy Moss is a name with star potential. Chad Pennington sounds like a solid backup. Chad Johnson sounds like the name of a decent to better than average player. Julio is a boxer name. Sounds like a guy who suffers a career-ending injury early and is quickly forgotten. Wouldn't be surprised if the injury came this or next year in college and he fell to the fourth round. Just like I told ya'll in March that "Crabtree" wasn't a name that could become a star in the NFL. |

I still think receiver is a name that bucks the trend a bit, for whatever reason. Calvin Johnson? Sounds like the friendly, black UPS driver with a big smile. Steve Smith sounds like the dickhead nerd in accounting who goes over your expense reports. And I'm pretty sure Greg Jennings is the name of the guy that lives across the street from me who walks to get the paper in the morning wearing boxers and a polo. |

Posted Image I'm playing. Steve Smith's cool. Both of them, actually. Those are all normal names, though. Most of the top receivers have normal names. Guys with regular names are in the middle (some normal-ish names with a little uniqueness can have star potential; Santonio Holmes sounds like a star), but for weird names, it's case-by-case. And "Julio" isn't an NFL name. It's not even a good MLB name. I'll give you Larry Fitzgerlad. He defied the name test. I watched him at Pitt in his freshman year and the announcers were raving about him and he was making a bunch of acrobatic catches. Except for him looking a little skinny and not running crisp routes, I didn't have a knock on him. You could definitely see the talent. So I figured he'd suffer a devastating injury and end up a slot receiver in the NFL. Nailed it on Craphonso Thorpe, though. He did get injured. |
