So is it true, he's coming back again? What a joke. I really hope he fails miserably, but they do have a damn good team. |

It's amazing how much Favre craves attention and how few people in the media hold it against him. They just continue to hang from the ballsack and go along for the ride. |

I never wish injury upon players, NEVER. However, this is the exception. Nothing life threatening, but I'd love to see him come back and rupture an achilles or tear a rotator cuff. |

Weird. There doesn't seem to be anything on ESPN.com. You'd think they'd devote their whole site to any news of Favre's latest decision not to retire. Is he really going to play? |

Cowherd was saying this afternoon that several Viking players are expecting him to be reporting soon. Nothing concrete yet though, just speculation. |

I heard early this morning (though I was half asleep) that several Vikings have said Favre has told them he still wants to come back. I didn't hear about training camp, though. I got the impression that, if true, he wanted to join them during the season. And you know he wants to. He doesn't want his career ending on the 2008 sour note; leading the league in interceptions, derailing the Jets down the stretch, with his last memorable play being the interception to a Dolphins defensive end on a screen pass. He wants to either go out on a high (like what 2007 could've been) or get injured - snapping the streak - and have his body force him to stop. |

I'll second that. Another thing to add I just heard Mark Schlereth through out the "THAT'S VINTAGE JAY CUTLER" reffering to a strong throw. He had one good fecking year where he imploded at the end. I hate the ESPN NFL Team. It's horrible. :furious2: |

Why do you guys bother with ESPN if you hate it so much? There are options now, namely the MLB and NFL Networks. |

Well, there's something we can agree on. I'm not a huge fan of Mark Sanchez, but one thing he has going for him, he's not Brett Favre. One year of that guy's diva crap was more than enough. I have no idea why anybody who paid attention to last season would want to subject themselves to this guy's garbage. |

Jets were smart staying away from that bitch Cutler, even if Sanchez is a huge bust, Cutler won't ever amount do anything. He'll be a journeyman problem child his whole NFL career. As far as ESPN goes, I pay them no attention other then visiting their site every now again to see what latest headlines they have. I'll listen to a little Mike and Mike and Cowherd here and there, and watch a live sporting even they are carrying that I"m interested in. I watch none of their bullshit shows, SportsCenter, Basetball Tonight, PrimeTime, GameDay, Stuart Boo Yeah Scott, f*ck all that sh*t. It's all crap. |

Huh? Cutler is 25 or 26 and is already one of the elite QBs. He's got a cannon arm and good accuracy, he's mobile and, not that it always translates on the field, but he's also one of the smarter quarterbacks. He'd have easily been the most talented QB in your team's history. If you want to knock him, you can question his leadership or maturity and demeanor. But you're way off in saying he'll never amount to anything. He's already amount to a Pro Bowler (although Rivers was more deserving). Do I think he'll light it up with the Bears? No. Will I root for him? No. But you can't deny his abilities. |

Aside: I'm curious to see Sanchez at the Meadowlands in the winter. I still haven't been able to get a great gauge of his arm. Some of his deep balls at USC were lovely and others hung and fluttered like crazy. He has a good spiral, accuracy and OK velocity on short and intermediate throws over the middle, but his passes outside don't have much zip. I wanna say definitively that he's got a weaker arm, but then I can't discount those perfect deep balls. How I'd call it now: He's got decent arm strength (good enough), good accuracy, some mobility and they like his work ethic and hope it translates to him being really smart on the field. He does work hard and he is dedicated. If things work out, that + his talent could make him a good QB (though probably never great). But that's the one thing about a QB you can never determine until it happens. The talent and drive can be there and he can study and work his ass off, then on game day he's throwing retarded picks and shitting himself at the sight of a rush. |

Cutler is a little bitch but he's still one of the better QBs in the game and Sanchez won't ever come close to matching him.

Cutler is a whiny little bitch. I think McDaniels proved his point just by allowing Cutler to bitch like he did when leaving Denver. In a system like the one Denver is now running there is no room for ego's and immaturity like what Cutler posses'. I think he is talented but the quarterback is the one supposed to be keeping everyone in line. Not calling out his wide receivers like he did to Hester. He also had a very good line in Denver, and will look for excuses every time he fails at something. Quarterback is more a mental position than any other in sports and I don't know if Cutler posses' a proper one to be successful. But I am open to being wrong on this so I will wait to see. |

If he did match Cutler all he would be his a head case and a soft pussy, so I hope he doesn't match that. You could have all the talent and the biggest arm in the world, when you have the head and lesbianism that he has, it all amounts to nothing. Million dollar arm, but he has a dollar for a brain and heart. No thank you. Jets were wise to pass. If he proves me wrong I'll be the first to take the hit, but I don't have any faith in Cutler. |

ESPN stole Adam Schefter from NFL Network. He made his on-air debut tonight after some previous work on the website. That's a hit to NFL Network's coverage. Of course you love ESPN. It's NESN2. |

I don't care how whiny a little bitch somebody is if they're good. Cutler is a good QB, Sanchez has proven nothing yet except that he can handle the media, good for him. I hope he proves me wrong but for now I'm going to be backing off the 'next Joe Namath' talk. Edited by Yanksfan03, Aug 18 2009, 12:22 AM.

Anyone who calls anybody the "next" whatever is a complete moron. You said the keyword there; Cutler is a good QB. Will he be anything more? Maybe, but I doubt it. Sanchez is what any draft pick is, potential. You can't crown this guy the next anything just like you can't say right now that he's going to be a bust. We don't know, only time will tell but I'm glad they went the route they did and went with the kid. A guy we can maybe groom for day 1 to be the guy. Not some head case that some other team doesn't want. |

I would hope Sanchez isn't the next Namath. If he completes 50% of his passes and throws 47 more INTs than TDs, you'll hate him and he'll be a backup somewhere by the time he's 27. Yeah, I just took a shot at the Jets overrated "legend." Vin, you're going overboard with the Cutler hate. Despite being an asshole, Cutler is one of the top QBs despite having just three years of experience. If Sanchez does what Cutler did in his first year as a starter, you'll be on his dick. He's got a lot of talent and, with youth on his side, he's got upside. He might be an elite QB for another 8-10 years. He was 13-1 in games when the Broncos defense gave up 21 points or fewer. You talk about him like he's Trent Edwards. |

Matt Cassel will out perform Jay Cutler on the field next year and for years to come. McDaniels was right for wanting Cassel instead of Cutler. |

Cassel has a weak arm, holds the ball too long and can be erratic in reading defenses. A lot of his flaws were covered up/compensated for by having a supporting cast that broke every offensive record the season before. He's got good accuracy and can run a little, so maybe that translates into him being a good QB. But he hasn't proven as much as Cutler and is nowhere close to him in terms of talent. I think it's 50/50 that he sucks in KC. Dwayne Bowe is a possession guy so he doesn't have a deep threat who can draw a secondary deep (Moss) and open up the underneath, and with Gonzalez gone, he doesn't have a dominant underneath guy (Welker). Plus Bowe and Toomer do their best work on the outside, running curls and hitches. Cassel, with his arm, is best suited for throwing over the middle. Plus the Chiefs offensive line isn't good and Cassel took 47 sacks behind the Pats line last year. And unless Larry Johnson is healthy and has his mind right (which hasn't been the case in three years), he's not gonna have a great running game to alleviate pressure, either. I wouldn't be surprised if he's injured or just ineffective this year. |
