I was thinking about this the other day. I feel like this whole "he's paid his debt to society" nonsense is because he's black. I hardly feel 2 years or less is near enough punishment for an adult harming and torturing defenseless dogs for profit. The inhumane nature of his crime is beyond heinous. Yet, there's a consensus out there, it seems, that he's paid his debt and should be able to play. Now my question to you is what would Michael Vick's story be if he were white? I think he might have gotten the same prison sentence, but he'd be completely out of football after that. Crimes follow people the rest of their lives and can prejudice employers. With a white guy, the league could wash their hands of that person and not have to worry about any fallout. With a black guy, there's this PC element of society that's always looking to find racism. Thus, his career will be able to continue. I'm sure there will be disagreements. Some may believe he wouldn't have done prison time, or he'd have done more. If he was white he couldn't run like he does, so he'd be completely worthless with his inaccurate arm.......yes, he would be out of football for good. |

If a white guy with Vick's resume (someone who had his status and talent) came out, I think he'd be in a similiar situation, if not a better one. I think people - white people - look at Vick not just as a f*ck-up on his own, but it's like, "Another ****** who's been blessed with talent and was fortunate enough to have it carry him to riches f*cks it up because he's stupid and wayward." It's that way because it's happened so often. And you look at the black athlete, even if you're a 70-year-old white owner who doesn't have an ounce of racism in him, and think that he's more likely to f*ck up again and embarass/cost your organization. Based on others and past evidence, he is. White guys in the NFL do dumb sh*t, but they don't get into serious sh*t like this at nearly the same rate as the blacks. Let's keep it real. How often do you hear about some star white athlete who "has the wrong people around him and needs guidance"? If you're an owner, you already feel more comfortable and are more trusting of the white player (simply because you like your own) and the stats on the graph says it's less likely that he'll f*ck up again or have friends/family who'll bring him down. And I do believe that if you have two of the same - duplicates of each other, just one white and the other black - our society will pick the white one. A black criminal who commits the same crime is more detestable than a white criminal who does the same thing. I think there's a feeling like, "It's bad enough you're a coon. You had to be evil, too? You big-lipped beast!" It'd be easier for that NFL team to present the white guy to the public and have them be more forgiving. Also, a white guy probably wouldn't have been spotted in a strip club with Allen Iverson days after getting off house arrest or video taped last weekend outside a club hanging out with Young Jeezy (and Vick used the n-word in the video). The mainstream media hasn't gotten hold of that yet, but if white people find out about that sh*t, they ain't gon' like it. And I do think Vick has paid his debt to society. Actually, he didn't do sh*t to society unless there's a dog city. What he did was heinous, cruel, retarded and just flat-out f*cked up. But animals are killed all the time. Whether it's a woman spraying Raid on a roach or Joe Redneck going hunting every Sunday so he can mount deer heads on his wall and brag. We overlook that because it's not cruel and doesn't elicit a WTF! reaction like dogfighting and dog murder. I'm not equating what he did or anything like that, but killing unnecessarily is killing unnecessarily. People hate hearing it, but there has to be a separation between person/animal. I like dogs - had two as a kid - but he didn't kill people. And Vick lost two years of his life, in the prime of his career, lost $100M, he has to start over and that sh*t'll be hanging over his head the rest of his life. The first thing you think of when you hear his name now is "dogs." Or "******." He'll be lucky if he's able to re-earn 1/10th of what he lost. And if you believe the purpose of prison is to rehabilitate (I don't, btw), then he probably is because I don't think there's any way he'll ever do that sh*t again. I think the debt is paid. |

Vick signs with the Eagles. I'm almost certain he'll do nothing this year but find a way to f*ck the Giants. |

I would like to agree with that statement, Strider. That's basically a lock to happen (the Giants part). I do think he will have an impact in some other games though. |

It's a good spot for him and having gone to school in the area I have a lot of friends who are Eagles fans and now I have yet another thing to get them crap about. Everyone wins. |

I hope Vick does well in whatever role he has this season just so people can cry more about this. It's hilarious to me how people say he doesn't deserve another chance, he lost the 'right' to play in the NFL, blah blah blah. What he did is despicable and I'm not defending him for that, but the fact of the matter is there are guys in the NFL who have done some pretty bad things to other human beings. On top of that, I can't think of a person on Earth who is perfect and has never made a mistake. Unless somebody can claim that, shut the hell up. Enough of this he hasn't paid his debt to society and other crap.

look at barry bonds people have said that he is blackballed because he is black but they dont make a big deal of the whole thing(about it being racist).. i think a white guy would get the same treatment...lets say it was a white guy that could run totally off subject but you know how their is all black schools and no one says that that s racist what if their was an all white school...how many people would say that that is racist i have always wondered that. :smirk: |

They're called historically black colleges and they don't exclude white people. They were created when colleges were excluding black people before the civil rights movement. |

That's true, watch some of those black college football games, every so often you'll see a white kicker. Can a white dude go there on a minority scholarship? |
