The Giants are behind the Eagles, Falcons, Cardinals and Titans. I disagree with all those. I'd have 'em third, behind the Patriots and Steelers.

No way the Cardinals are the 5th best team in football. They got lucky period.

I'd have the Giants behind Patriots, Steelers, Eagles. The Eagles roughed us up on our turf in the playoffs and they had a phenomenal draft. The Giants had a good draft but they also lost Plaxico permanently.

The Cardinals are a joke, smoke and mirrors. Lucky isn't even the word.

No, football has always been my least favorite sport of my big 3.

1. Baseball
2. Basketball
3. Football
4. Hockey

I've never been a football nut.

And STOP!!!! There are MANY teams who have never won a championship or who have a worse history then the NY Football Jets, we are by far not among the worst teams in sports history.

The Eagles didn't rough them up. The Giants outplayed them for most of the game and should've had a lead throughout. Would've had a lead throughout had Eli been able to complete a pass in the wind. Top to bottom, the Giants are a better team. In fact, top to bottom, I think the Giants have the fewest flaws of any team. They don't have a compensator (i.e. a dominant QB, lock-down defense) that can make up for when the other parts of the team aren't clicking and that's why I won't rank them first. But they have fewer holes than any other roster if you're going position or unit-by-unit.

The Eagles' only standout draft pick was Maclin. And he kinda reminds me of Troy Williamson. Good upside, but he's raw as a route-runner and the adjustment from a spread offense (and not facing elite competition) will probably keep him from having the immediate impact many are expecting.

Plaxico was and has been very overrated. His impact has been overstated and his absense wasn't what derailed them. People just like to point to that because it's simple and the quick "that explains it!" reason. He was having a down season, was one of Eli's least reliable receivers (I know he bailed him out with a lot of acrobatic catches on bad balls, but he caught a low percentage of the balls thrown to him), didn't get open too often and had his share of drops. I can't knock him completely because they'll miss him in the red zone (where the Giants get predictible and Eli doesn't make reads down there, he just locks onto his primary or throws it away) and run blocking. But last year Hixon was their best deep threat and caught 59% to Plaxico's 53. Smith was the most reliable at 70%, which ranked him among the league leaders (though he was almost strictly an underneath guy). I don't expect Ramses Barden to be all that productive and he's raw, but if he can only learn one thing this training camp, I'd hope that it's how to run fades in the NFL. He killed that in college (there's YouTube videos of him catching nothing but fades for TDs) and if he can use his 6'6" frame and basketball-ish ups (he's got like a 40-inch vertical and basketball was his first love), he should be able to at least approximate Plaxico in the red zone. Plus with Travis Beckum (who, for whatever reason, I almost expect to get injured in pre-season), they should be able to run some quick outs and flat routes like the Redskins do with Cooley down there. All things considered, if the key players stay healthy and Eli is able to protect the ball and manage games like he did last season, I think this year's offense has potential to be better than last.

The Cardinals were one of the teams I feared last year. That's an explosive and relentless offense. Not only can they strike fast with the big play, but they can sustain drives and dink n' dunk you down the field, converting third downs. They're like the Saints with a better defense. Yes, they struggle to run block and are one-dimensional and their defense can have the ball moved on them, but they're not a bad team. They're not a luck team. Hell, I think the Titans were more of a luck team than them. That defense actually overachieved and the offense, with no receivers, an OK offensive line and Kerry Collins at QB, probably should've been even worse than it was. The Cardinals can flat out-talent a lot of teams. Do I think they'll reach the Super Bowl? Hell no. But they've got a relatively easy schedule and I see them going 10-6 (not much competition in the NFC West, so that's a divison title) and, depending on the matchup, winning a round in the playoffs.

I felt the Cards getting to the Super Bowl and almost winning it discredited the season.
Yes, the Cards had talent, but they NEVER showed the ability to be a championship team the entire season. They were a soft team defensively, they couldn't run, their O line wasn't great, their special teams wasn't that good.

Like Brock Lesnar said about Frank Mir, they had a horseshoe up their ass. They were a Frank Gore tripping and a stupid up the gut run by Michael Robinson from finishing tied for the division with the Niners. The Patriots and Vikings wiped their ass on the Cardinals face. They got lucky to host a team with a better record in their first playoff game and could have easily lost it despite ATL playing poorly. They played the best they possibly could have and Eagles still should have won that game in the NFCCG. It still turns my stomach that the Steelers didn't treat them like the doormats they should have been.

As for the rankings, they seem sh*t. Just doesn't feel close to accurate across the board. We'll see though. Football always has surprises. I have no idea what to expect with the Giants. I like the defensive signings, but ain't happy with the lack of WR.

Not always about who is the best team all season, it's usually who's the best team in January. The Giants got hot at the right time in their Super Bowl season and the year before Indy's D was pretty weak but shored up in time for the playoffs.

Fans do. Most times they're inaccurate or there's something stupid in 'em, so it gives fans a reason to complain and debate. That's their worth. I could give a sh*t who Yahoo or ESPN thinks will be great before training camp even starts (a lot of the times they can't even get it right during the season), but it's like the first thing in getting a football discussion going.

But they had a passing offense that was scary as f*ck. That's the first thing I look at when judging a team's chances. It's obviously not the only factor and it's often not enough to carry a team the whole way, but it's very important and a great passing attack can compensate for a lot of other sh*t being sub par. The Colts weren't that good last year. The Defense was their defense, the line took a big step back and the running game wasn't much, but nobody was surprised they made the playoffs and few would've been surprised if they'd made a run to the AFC Championship. When you can attack from anywhere on the field at any time and throw up a lot of points, you have a chance. Defense and running game and all that sh*t take a step back when it's 8 minutes into the game and the scoreboard says 14-0. I wouldn't be shocked if the Saints make a run like the Cardinals' this year. I'm scared shitless of those teams.

I'll give the Cardinals this, they made it a very fun and entertaining Super Bowl. I think they are one of those teams that just got hot at the right time and there is some luck involved in that. I mean Delhomme absolutely crapped the bed against them and handed them the game against the Panthers. The Giants lose to the Eagles meaning the NFC Championship game is in Zona instead of them traveling to Jersey. Give them their due though, they held their own in the Super Bowl.
