Listen to Joe Budden's "Who Killed Hip Hop" series. It's three songs, each about 5:00 of him shitting on the shitty and speaking the truth about the embarassing aspects of rap. Very creative, very honest. You'll love it.

Priceless, a song like this was needed for a long time and if someone else spoke on the subject I just haven't hard it. What's happened to hip hop is a sad shame, but I will say this, Budden is a breathe of fresh air in this stinking ass mouth of hip hop.

"Mike Jones went platinum off of Slim Thug's joint"

:bc: How'd that happen? lol

Anyway, it's crazy. I've bought like 2 CDs in the last 4 years. Q Tip's new one he put out and Little Brother's "Minstrel Show". That's it. I think a lot of people just don't buy CDs anymore, you can find sh*t online still, you can subscribe to Napster or many other programs like that and download sh*t on your computer. People don't want to waste their money on a CD when there are so many other ways to go about getting the music nowadays.

But the bottom line is that hip hop is sh*t. Ever watch Rap City anymore? Well actually I think they may have finally did away with that show, but as a kid I loved it. Man in the mid 90's, that was the show to watch. Great videos from an array of different artists. I think they cut the show in 2008, but if you watched it within the last few years it was a disgrace. I mean the videos and music on there were straight up AWFUL, unwatchable f*cking crap. What the hell happened? Kids these days just have horrible f*cking taste. Souljaboy Tell 'em? My son listens to that guy, what the f*ck is that sh*t? STOP!!!! Mike Jones? WHO? What? NONSENSE! Boy it went down the shitter. Was it the South? I don't know, Budden's says no. I mean Outkast was the from the south and they were one of the better groups in the industry. I don't care for them anymore, but in their day they put out a few classic albums. Seems like some bad music is coming out of the south, but I've even seen artists from NYC who I can't name by name cause I don't recall but they sounded as if they should have been from Atlanta with the sh*t single I heard.

All in all is the golden era of this music was from like 94-99, maybe you can extend it a little further, maybe P f*cked the whole sh*t up as in No Limit, I don't know. Nothing but garbage out there, you really have to dig for the good stuff because it ain't showing up on Sucker Free or 106 and Park.

Okay, on Part III I heard him say a New York rapper on the south tip, he said Mims? That sounds familiar, that might be the cat I'm thinking about, but there are WAY TOO many cats from NYC on the South tip, that sh*t has to stop. East Coast was always the illest, with the best sound in my mind, but that's gone. Everything sounds the f*cking same!

Remember Slim Thug's first single, that "Still tippin' on four-fours" sh*t? Mike Jones and Paul Wall both went platinum off that. People loved Mike Jones from that song (because he just kept repeating himself and people are stupid) and it was more popular than any of his own singles. But people flocked to buy his sh*t because they remembered him from that. Then his second album sold 8,000 copies the first week.

The last album I bought was... I think "Reasonable Doubt" (I had some songs off it, but didn't own the whole album) and that was a few years ago. The last album I wanted to buy was Budden's "Padded Room," but I didn't see it in any stores and wound up downloading it. I might buy Eminem's "Relapse." But half the tracks off that have already leaked and I've got some in the iPod already, so I might just wind up downloading it.

I hadn't watched "Rap City" since Big Tigger left. I always thought the show sucked, even when I was in high school, but I'd watch every now and then for the booth freestyles. After Tigger left and was replaced with talentless clowns like Mad Linx and Q45, who just settled for dick-sucking interviews and never spat. I haven't sat and watched a BET show since like 2004.

The thing that pisses me off about rap is how people support the dumbest sh*t. Budden's new album sold 14,000 the first week. Lupe Fiasco, who's talented and witty as f*ck and is also well-connected (he's Kayne's boy; Jay-Z was executive producer on his first album; he's got good production), he sells 300,000. Soulja Boy's first album went platinum off "Crank Dat." More troubling than the retardedry in the industry and monkeys getting record deals, is the stupidity of listeners. They're the reason real talents don't sell and don't get exposure while the fools are all over TV and radio. It's like people want their music to be stupid. Someone - an educated person who's older than me - had told me about a year back, "Who cares about lyrics in the club? Metaphors and social commentary won't get bitches on the dance floor." That's why it just gets harder and harder to defend rap to (particularly to older white folks). From their perspective it's like, "Lyrics? Neil Young had lyrics. I've heard some rap. When they're not talking about killing each other and degrading women, they don't even bother to make sense. What was that song? From that guy? Tornado? No. Hurricane. Yeah, that Hurricane Chris guy. 'Ay Bay Bay.' You're telling me rap has complex lyrics and I'm supposed to be impressed by 'Ay Bay Bay'?" I don't know if there's a genre that succeeds in consistently putting its absolute worst foot forward.

Yeah. He's the one who made "This Is Why I'm Hot." It's not only the south's fault, but most of the dumb, lyric-less music has come from the south. And they've had the most hits since, I'd say, 2003. So some New York guys have hopped that tip and tried to sound souther or tied themselves to southerners in hopes of selling. Fat Joe is a big culprit. He moved to Florida and now almost works exclusively with DJ Khalid, Lil' Wayne, Rick Ross and them. Dick rider. In fact, on one song he said, "Why's everyone so mad at the south for?/ Change your style up and switch to south paw." Dick rider.

You know what was funny? Prodigy, before heading off to prison, said the worst rapper in the business is Budden. Joey addressed that on the second verse of "Blood on the Wall." Got in his ass.

What the f*ck wrong with Prodigy? Of all the people to dis and he goes after Budden? He's one of the rare good ones left out there. Talk about a group who sold out, that would be Mobb Deep. One of the best groups of all time and put out one of the classic albums of all time in "The Infamous" and then each album there after was weaker and weaker till the finally got with 50 which was just ridiculous.

Anyway, Reasonable Doubt is a Top 5 hop hop album in my opinion. You can argue between that and Illmatic as maybe the two best hip hop albums ever. I downloaded that sh*t probably about 5 o 6 years ago and finally listened to the while thing after just hearing bits and pieces of it, great f*cking album. No doubt. Just take that one song with Foxy off of it, I hate that f*cking song. Illmatic is skip prove, every song is classic so I give it a slight edge.

Wow, Fat Joe went down south? That's just silliness. f*ck him, I actually like his first album, not a classic by any means, but good sh*t. After that though, nothing worth listening from him.

In regards to Rap City, that sh*t was the best when Prince Dejour and then Joe Claire and Big Lez were hosting the show and they also had the Top 10 Saturday mornings. Good sh*t back in the day, seriously. Dejour was like 92-93 and Claire was 94-98 or 99 and Big Lez was around that same period as Claire. Tigger took over after Claire and I was never a fan of his, that's when it went to the whole Basement deal and to me it died after that. I think Claire might have been in the basement the last year or two, but that also may have started right when Tigger took over, can't remember. Tigger was much better then the last host's Mad Linx and q45. Garbage!

Prodigy's a little bitch who's become more than a joke. Tru Life made him strip, Saigon snuffed him (and it's on tape) and he can't rap for sh*t. He's pathetic.

You're the second person in three days to tell me that. The other guy was like, "So he really is a rapper? I thought he was just an actor." He had a beef with Budden, actually. Saigon and Mobb Deep had some issues (probably from some dumb sh*t Prodigy said), so Saigon showed up at their show in Manhattan, jumped on stage and started rapping. Havoc (the level-headed one) says, "Please clear the stage so we can carry on with the show. We're all just here to enjoy ourselves." Prodigy, who's like 5'1", steps to him and says, "Suck my dick." Saigon decks the sh*t outta him. So, of course, all of Mobb Deep's bodyguards and posse rush him. Saigon gets into track star mode and jets out. They chased him down Times Square and couldn't catch him. Fast forward. Budden does a freestyle where he has a line that goes something like, "As soon as my wife's gone, they climb on the python/ But they don't know I'm out to hit n' run like Saigon." Saigon took offense. Budden killed him in the battle (check out "Pushing Buddens" and "Letter to Saigon"). Saigon's pretty good, but he's not in Joe's class. They eventually squashed the beef. Joe said he had some real dirt on Saigon and that Sai knew what it was, so if they went another round with the diss songs, he was gonna air him out. In a radio interview, Sai said Budden called him and told him and they agreed to stop.

I found out about him through Entourage but I knew he was a real rapper not an actor, I think it mentioned it in the closing credits or some sh*t. After I viewed that first episode of him in Entourage I liked what I heard and downloaded some of his sh*t, he's decent. Hit and run like Saigon, lol, that's funny.
